Right this week is the week when i finally decide that it is time to get in better shape. The annoying thing is that only two years ago i was in great shape when I was rowing, but that has all changed.
Current weight around 17st, Height 6ft 4.
Regime:
Monday: Circuits 1hr
Tuesday: Badminton 1hr
Weds: Indoor Rowing
Thursday: BAdminton/Squash
Friday: Indoor Rowing
Weekend see if i can be bothered.
I also thought i would try and answer Noner's question on another post, I may copy it onto there also but am tight on time tonight.
My girlfriend is a fitness instructor and certainly when we have worked out we always used to alternate muscle groups on each day, so we would start with legs, then biceps and chest and abs, then triceps, and back. This meant that a) we didnt get bored and b) when we were feeling keen and exercising several days in a row that we had time for DOMS (Delayed onset of muscle soreness) to take effect and go away.
We usually accompanied this with atleast half an hour CV, and some days only did CV for about an hour.
The main benefit however was that workouts lasted around an hour which was a manageable time within our schedule.
Not sure if that is any use but if you have any questions, i will try and prime her for advice.

Sounds like a plan Argyle!
Squash, eh? I've played a few games of squash in my life. I used it as a training when I competed in racquetball.
-
racquet ball just isnt something that has taken off over here at all

HHhhmmm....I used to play racquetball to train for squash ???

Fair dues to you Argyle, I wouldn't have the motivation these days.
I used to work out like crazy, haven't done so in years. The only sport I have played regularly in years is handball (kinda like squash/racketball but without the racket) which makes you work like hell but never seemed to get me fit.

Being that you're Irish... maybe playing handball with a beer in your other hand was a bad idea! ;D ;D

I eat squash.
-
I'll eat squash if it is heavily buttered, seasoned and I put it on the grill in aluminum foil

Yeah, and squash hasn't done as much here either. Though, racquetball is also declining, especially here in Californina.

No better workout than running, though.

I agree, I'm still fairly young and I already have arthritis setting in on one knee
-
pig, you were a bull rider. everything will hurt eventually. i know my brief fighting career is showing now.

I've had two ACL re-constructions as a result of soccer. I could probably play again, but the stop & go / lateral movement probably isn't the best idea.
Constant running is not good for anyone with bad knees. However, running a little each week is actually good for your joints (similar to resistance training). Not sure where I read that, but I remember seeing it recently.

I don't run... use the hell out of the elliptical machine though!

and it shows, you stud!!!!

With that, take a Vidalia onin, cut the core out, add a pat of butter, fill the remainder with Dale's, wrap it in foil and put it on the grill. Excellent

we grew yellow squash and zuccini in the garden last year. squash zuccini and onions cooked down with a little seasoning, you can't beat it. unless it is my wife's zuccini cassarole. very good, lots of cheese. damn i am hungry.

Tore the ACL in my left knee skiing. Tore the meniscus in my right knee when I was still wrenching. Since then, I jacked up my right wrist unloading a barrell of chlorine. Went dancin with the wife a few months back and thought I tore the meniscus in my left knee. Went to the doc a couple of times and got a Cortizone injection once, not much trouble since then. I'm freakin fallin apart man! They told me when I went in for the trouble with my left knee that arthritis is starting to set in also. However, I believe I can attribute my joint problems to more than just bullriding. Some of it is hereditary, and some of it is just bein a dumbass kid.

got a Cortizone injection once...
OUCH....I hear those smart pretty good.
-
I didn't think it was too bad. They did the same thing on my wrist about a half a dozen times before they elected to cut on it. Maybe I'm just a glutton for punishment.

Were you trying to do the splits?

Nope, just a little western swing and when I tried to turn on my left foot my boot didn't slide like it should have, but my upper leg did...felt reeeeeeeeal good. Then I jacked it up a couple times after that too.
