Title: Ouch!
Post by: TheSlyBear on July 07, 2008, 01:58:17 PM
So I'm expecting a new washer and dryer that will be delivered tomorrow (what does it say when someone gets all excited about a new washer and dryer?) Really nice front-loaders...

But, that meant doing some prep work this weekend. So yesterday, I moved the old machines out from the wall, and went behind them in order to clean up the dust (it's amazing how much had built up in back there -- disgusting) and to replace some of the carpet tiles that cover the floor and had become loose (due to a water heater incident a few years back).

Then I get up.

Right into a fluorescent light fixture affixed to the bottom of the set of cabinets on the wall over the machines.

Ouch.

Supernovas, not stars.

So today I look like a runner-up in the Gorbachev look-alike contest.

Hopefully, this will heal with no scarring

All expressions of sympathy will be gladly accepted.

(P.S. Apologies for the unshaven appearance. No shaving 'til this heals I'm afraid. I was already overdue for a cleanup when this happened.)

Now I see why you were in such a foul mood with your posts  :*))

Just kidding.  I know that hurt.  Get better soon, then shave properly.  8)

Fortunately the head is very resilient; just don't rush it.  My sympathies are with you in your time of pain and scruffyness.

I'm sure you'll heal up fine, man. It sounds like it hurt pretty bad, but the wound is just a flesh wound. You'll recover. Just hang in there till then.

Ouch ... I just had one like that healed. I've got to tan it ... a white spot on a tan head looks odd.

Holy S!$T BB!!! :Xo!

Had one of those about 2 weekd ago. :Xo! Slammed my bare skull into a low hanging 2X4 in our shed. Knoked myself out and chipped a tooth in the process!  @c3 Cussed a blue streak when I came to!

Ice and aloe helped me out.

I've had a few injuries like that and know it's no laughing matter.  When I do thinks like that, I usually just shave around the wound, and then go lightly over the wounded area with an electric razor.  After the first day or two it can usually tolerate the electric touching it.  It beats having to sport stubble until the area heals.

That doesn't look like it feels good.
I did a similar thing two weeks ago, I was tearing the siding off of a shed and a board fell on my head and a nail got my ear.

You're very accident-prone, aren't you?

Dang BB!

Hope that heals quickly for you! O0

I think xnewyawka said that when you shave your head, you lose the feelers that warn you when you are too close to things.  I believe him!! 8)

one might say that
but i blame some of my injuries on genetics, My padre, my sister and I all have bad shoulders, although, as of the end of the summer, I will be the only one to have 2 shoulder surgeries

Thanks for all sympathy! I needed it. ;)

The scalp is scabbed over and seems to healing well (though still very sore to the touch). And I'm getting antsy with all this scruff on my head!

But the washer and dryer were delivered yesterday and they are amazing! (You know you're getting old when you get excited over a new washer and dryer -- but they're very cool!)

If it's a gadget...I will get excited over it. Plain and simple.

I hear ya!

I actually spent about an hour watching the clothes go through the various cycles through the door. I just thought it would fill with water then tumble. But it actually puts the clothes through a rather elaborate dance.

I'll bet that was much more entertaining that TV BB. I would have been mesmerized and caught up in it's spell and end up wasting the hole day perched it front of it. :@`

While I was watching, I actually thought "I can't believe that I'm doing this" -- but I was mesmerized (good word for it). And the geek in me was trying to figure out the patterns that make it so efficient...

At least that would be a better story!

It's like a few months ago when I hurt my back. Did I have a good story to go along with it? Of course not. The actual story was "I turned to the left".

You know, you could prove your geekdom once and for all by posting a series of "unboxing" photos of your new toys.

LOL! I wouldn't have thought of that! Besides, I didn't do the unboxing -- the installers did.

I am expecting a new pair of custom-made motorcycle boots soon. Maybe I'll do the whole unboxing thing for them!

I know. I was amazed (and very happy). The scabbing was very thick, and when the last of it fell off yesterday, I couldn't believe there was no scar. It doesn't show in the picture, but there's some pink still there -- but you really have to look for it and it will probably fade.
