Title: Gas Prices
Post by: hammerdrill376 on July 05, 2008, 07:59:02 PM
Just wondering what you all are paying for gas where you live. Regular unleaded where we shop was $4.04 today.

When at home I ride a recumbent bicycle so I don't buy gas. My bent gets 50 miles to a hamburger.

Thanks. I just can't bring myself to buy a gas burning vehicle. Insurance, fuel, pollution, all that on top of payments just seems crazy to me.

But then I drive for a living so the idea of driving when I am not working just doesn't appeal to me in any way.

On the Kansas side of KC, it's running $4.03 - $4.09.  I was at my parents in SW Mo this weekend and it was about $3.85.  The lowest I saw was $3.79.

In the Upper Penninsula of Michigan, prices are ranging from as low as $4.04 on the Indian reservations to $4.25 or so in some towns.   It is obviously a variance due to state and local taxes.

Yea..Tyro..and we were complaining about $1.59 gas...I cant believe you all are buying gas.  Hell I cant afford it.  I have to steal mine.  Just pull up , filler up and take off.  Hell I wish it was that easy.  IF i tried to do that I would be the one who could get caught just standing there thinking about it.

Gas here is $4.08

In Alberta, we're paying ~$4.76/gallon (allowing for conversion errors).

Last weekend I was in BC and it was ~$5.37/gallon.  Of course it was a long weekend, so you know they're jacking up the prices for the holiday travelers.

And that's for regular, and Alberta produces a huge amount of oil and gas.  Gotta wonder why we pay so much for it when we "make" it ourselves...

My wife and I were talking about this the other day, and she tells me (She's much more a "newsie" than I am - I can get my daily dose of news in under 5 minutes by browsing yahoo and google news) that this drop in gas prices is actually consumer driven. Apparently, people all over the nation have curtailed their driving so severely that it was really beginning to hit those who profit from gas sales in their pocketbooks enough that they took notice, and figured they'd rather have a smaller profit margin, and more gas sales. She also went on to say that because we are creatures of habit, and we've already curtailed our driving so much - it'll take a pretty big change in prices to get us to resume our old level of "mobilization." - I am not saying this is fact or fiction (as I don't know) but it's dang sure an interesting theory!

It's below $2 at some stations in the Crescent City, and it always strikes me as odd we seem to pay more than people in those states w/o oil and gas production and refining.  Oh well, I guess I should be glad I don't have to gas up in Europe.  How's the price over across the Pond Euro-Slys?
