I've always been a DELL guy as far as PC's, but when my DELL goes down (God forbid) I will be looking hard at an APPLE MacBook Pro.  I've heard nothing, but good about it and the Mac OS X operating system, which is now Windows compatible!

I should stop by Apple on the way home from work (I drive by their campus every day) and ask to have a look...though, they'll probably kick me out...LOL   :-\

Really nice device. At $499 it's reasonably priced for what it can do. But
a little too expensive for me...

Guys, if any of you buys it, make sure you post a thorough review with pictures!

Too rich for a teacher's blood - and I'm bad enough with the cell as is.  Seriously, I started leaving the cell in the car a while back to set an example for students ... we have two to three daily disciplinary referrals daily from kids caught IM'ing at school.  I then realized the practicallity of having it, plus the safety factor.  You guys have phones in your offices - we are not lucky enough to have them in our rooms

I love my iPod...it's probably my favorite purchase of the last few years.  However, I don't want all that stuff on a phone.  I just want the phone to ring and let me talk.  I'm kind of old school in that way.  I leave mine in the car whenever I can.  Something about carrying it all the time makes me feel like i'm wearing an electronic leash.

One of the problems that I see now is that even more people will be inclined to talk on the phone at the gym... >:(

The worst is hearing a phone ring in a restaurant.  Makes me want to throw a fork at someone.

Believe it or not .... at the church I use to attend in Atlanta, a woman's cell phone rang during the service.  She answered it and proceeded to have a conversation.  The minister paused his sermon and announced he would complete it when she finished her call.

Wow.   I'm appalled.    First, the phone should have been put on silent or off.   Second after you get the call, have the decency to walk out to the atrium to have the conversation, and quietly come back in when you are finished.   And turn the phone off after that.

don't all cell phones have voice mail? heve some respect for who's house you are in, and leave it in your car. if the call is that important, we would all pray to you.

I wouldn't answer my phone in church period.    But I also either turn mine completely off, or put the ringer on alarm only which means my phone will not make noise.   All I will get is the number across the screen.

When I was doing dairy service, I would take my phone into church, but only if I was oncall. But that was the same with some of the other gentleman in our congregation. Probably more than half of our deacons worked the county electric co-op. When it was their weekend to be oncall, they would have their phone, but it would be on vibrate. I did the same thing. Then we would walk out of the sanctuary and take the call. It was as simple as that.

It really is amazing what a distraction it is.  Not simply because another sound has competed with the pastor's voice for the split second it took the person to silence the ring tone, but because yer suddenly plagued with lingering thoughts, "Didn't that numbskull JUST hear the pastor say to turn those things off? I can't believe people just don't leave them in the car....etc.....etc.....etc...."

One horrifying Sunday, I must admit, I was the numbskull.  I have my phone set on the loudest telephone "bell" ring possible.  So in case I've left it laying somewhere I can find it when it starts ringing.

I play the drums at our church which are on a platform behind the pulpit.  One time I left my phone on the drum platform...forgetting to turn it off.

Yep...that baby went through the full cycle of loud rings with the pastor looking back once then scanning the congregation.  Then he goes, "Well, Rob must be late for his next gig and their trying to reach him."

Same thing happened to me!  In trying to hit the off button, I answered it.  I heard the friend calling, before I turned off, say "He's put organ music on his voice mail"!

My cell stays on vibrate at all times.  I hate ringing phones in public.

That being said, I heard on the news this morning that Cisco is suing Apple over the iphone name.  Cisco (whom I'm contracted to) trademarked the name in 2002 for their IP telephones.  I heard that Apple and Cisco had been negotiating for use of the name and the talks stalled.  But thats just rumor.

The 'BlackJack" just went on the back burner for me as well. Hello iPhone :)

I was planning on getting an iPod anyway, and my Cingular contract is up, so it looks like I'll be killing 2 birds with one stone when I get this.

Most phones are released in very small amounts to select important people in the industry.  Also usually a hits the general market for about 1 to 3 mos before it will be offered with a carrier.  So in June Cingular will start selling them with new contracts.  About April you should be able to buy it from phone store with no service.

It is a GSM phone so it will have to go to either Cingular, T-mobile or another GSM provider.  Or not even be offered here in the states, like a lot of the good phones

Japan is probably laughing at us.  They had touchscreen phones like the iPhone in 1999 when I visited.  AND, they were smaller than the iPhone.

Between FCC regulations approving the technology and the service providers not investing the money in the network upgrading.

I've heard some very bad things about the iPhone regarding the keyboard. Last thing you'd want to do is have to buy a plug-in keyboard.  I'd give it a year or two until newer models w/hopefully better technology.

Would love to have one but won't spend big bucks on something that tends to annoy me a lot.  :/O
