My three year bald anniversay is April 4th, just recently i started growing a goatee,
should i keep the shaved head and goatee look or just have a shaved head
-
go with the goatee. and ewlcome to SBG.
-
Keep the dome shaved. Welcome to the group, fcb
-
Obivously, keep the head shaved, but post a pic so that we can give you better guidance on whether to keep the goat or not.
-
It's hard to go wrong with a goatee.
If you have a wife/lady/significant other -- they're pretty good judges.
-
I just shaved on Dec 6th. I started to grow a goatee. So far people have said it suits me. Post a pic, and we will judge. We promise not to hold back.
-
Go for it. A goatee almost always looks good with a shaved head. In fact, I think most guys with shaved heads look better with some facial fuzz. I grew mine a little over a year ago, mainly because I have a weak chin which the goatee helps to camoflauge. I became a lot more comfortable about my appearance after I grew the goatee. The bald head just seemed to draw attention to the fact that I didn't have the nice square jaw that I'd like to have. It took me a while to figure out that the lack of facial hair was the reason the bald look wasn't quite working for me.
-
could someone either PM me with instructions how to post a photo, i will have a picture of me taken with the goatee soon, i have a digital camera but i dont know how to convert pictures i take to the computer yet
-
For myself most times I don't completely shave my head, but trim it down to a stubble on the sides. So my question would be for a look like that, do you
A. Grow a goatee
B. Go with the rough stubble look on the face too.
C. Go clean shaven
Decisions, decisions, just can't decide.
Phil
-
I prefer the goatee

Try them all out, see what you like the most. Then stick with that.
-
I"m a fan of the BigJeffrey soul patch....i see that BaldRob also sports this look. It's a good one.

Below are pics showing rough stubble vs. goatee....my wife, my kids and I like the goatee. CLICK TO ENLARGE PICS
<-----------As you can see in my profile pic--a little variation of the goatee--I prefer to shave the hair from my lower lip almost down to the bottom of my chin. A little different from the shirtless pic.
-
:D :D Welcome, fcb2001. In general, I agree with Razor X, a goatee goes well with the shaved head, in most cases. But everyone is individual, so I can't give a definitive opinion without looking at your pic. I have worn a goatee or beard for over 30 years. Have a good new year, Professor Melon

So is our logo...LOL
I bet people will ask you "Is that you on the shirt?" when you wear it.

Any of you ever tried that stuff that gets rid of the grey in the beard/goatee? I think it's by Just For Men.

I think David said he's using it to darken his beard. I'm starting to get a couple little grey/white hairs popping in. It might not be too long before I try it out.

Naw... just kind of punchy! Couldn't sleep in the hotel last night (good thing too because the hotel lost power and the alarm clock shut off), so I've pretty much been up since 1 am central time (it's 8:40 pm now)... :XX

they would be carrying me out before i gave up. and pig knows how much cowboys like stretchers and ambulances. :XX

When ya sees us, could ya buy a drink for a poor man in pain?

i was at a buck out one time when this dude got his head busted. he wouldn't even let the medics LOOK at him. we went to my buddy's truck and got the equine stapler, and put three staples in this guys head so he could ride again.

WOW....we carried a guy out on a tailgate one time because the medics weren't there yet
he was a big ole boy too
-
my partner blew his knee and sat in ankle deep mud for about 45 minutes waiting on the medics. that was ugly. his leg turned 90degrees at the knee.
-
ouch
-
luckily i never got hurt that bad. ok back to the topic. goatees.

Yup, I got one
-
me too. anyone have suggestion on goatee trimmers. tired of fighting big clippers.
-
I bought a cheap andis trimmer from the PX a while ago (actually for the boy's head) it was about $20 and it is great.
-
Well, I'm kinda biased on the subject... ;)
-
Found out that what PigPen, I, Paulie and Lone Wolf here are sporting isn't technically a "goatee"
It's actually known as a "Van Dyke"...
A goatee is only on the chin = not connected to a 'stache.
I found it to be an interesting clarification.
-
In other words something like what i have in my pic

If you mean what I think you mean, there really wouldn't be much chance of that now, would there?
Unless you mean the proper term of ditch, of which, you'd quite possibly stand more of a chance.
tsk,tsk, Mr CanadianHeadblader!! :-\
-
well call 'em smigs. Smig, funnily enough, is Irish for chin.
-
http://www.banjo1.uwnet.nl/beard/BeardStyles.htm
That ought to cover most any facial hair style.

Why not I'm always UP for a challenge ;D
-
I basically go back and forth on the facial hair deal. If I have a race coming up a usually start growing it but after the race weekend is over I shave it....Its basically a superstition I guess. .......Its my MOJO!
-
the wifey says i am not alowwed to shave it off. something about my personality changing or something. my VAN DYKE is just part of who i be. lol
