Title: How to put a picture in the avatar

I'm a newbie and not very savy with the computer stuff.

I have my pictures in photobucket, but I can't figure out how to put the pic in my avatar.

Post by: Tyler on June 13, 2008, 06:17:05 PM: At the top of the screen there's a menu. Click on "Profile".

You'll be take to your profile.

Then click on "Forum Profile Information" on the left side of the screen.

When you get into that screen, you'll see a radio button that says "I have my own pic" with a text box next to it.

Paste the link from Photobucket in this text box.

Scroll down and click save.

I pasted a link and all I get is an empty box with a little red "x". Tried uploading a pic from my PC and get the same "x". Am I doing something wrong or is this just a setting that needs to be changed?

Uploading the original jpg file should work though.

Post by: The Noggin on February 13, 2011, 07:41:04 AM: Perhaps it is too large. The forum software shrinks large images by itself but seems to have a size limit. Scale it down with an image editing program to max. 300 pixels width/height and save it as a new jpg file.

Post by: The Noggin on February 20, 2011, 05:15:01 AM: Joe, you have to put in the address of the picture not the address of the album. It is shown next to "Direct link" when you hover your mouse over the picture.

In your case it should read

Post by: DAMMAG on April 07, 2011, 02:53:20 PM: I just uploaded mine. I had to make it small, I used Windows picture and fax viewer, went to- edit, image, stretch/scew, changed the stretch percentages until I got down to 28K and then uploaded it.

1. Open the desired picture in your album
2. Copy the address from the "Direct link" textbox on the right under "Share this photo" (click to select, right click, copy). Or right click the photo and select "Properties", the address is shown there too.
3. Paste the address into the "I have my own pic" input box.

Post by: The Noggin on May 23, 2011, 01:42:14 PM: I suspect you haven't marked the picture as public. When I try to reach the address you're using I'm getting the facebook login page. Perhaps it's easier for you to upload your pic to SBG instead of linking to facebook.
