Just so happens I have a Panasonic Linear Wet/Dry shaver.  I'll give this guys method a try in the shower this morning and report back.  I've always been a big fan of shaving oil but never considered just using it on its own.

How do you like that shaver?

Mike,

I had barely used this shaver until this morning.  Here's the routine I used.  It's much like the guy's routine in the You Tube video that RazorX posted.  Got in the shower and scrubbed head with St. Ives Apricot scrub (this should be a Sly Bald Guy Law as 80% you you swear by the stuff).  Followed up with Bald Guyz Head Wash.  Rinse all that stuff off, then put about ten drops of shaving oil in the palms and rub it thoroughly onto your scalp.  I used the Panasonic shaver all over my head feeling the stubble and re-shaving as necessary.  Once out of the shower I applied a generous handful of Clinique for Men Scruffing Lotion (astringent).  It burned like hell.  Leave on a few minutes then splash with very cold water.  Followed up with my usual moisture lotion (using Bald Guyz Gel at present.  To date I haven't had a smoother dome.  Also got that extreme shine going on that so many of you crave.  I usually go for a more matte look.  Phase 2 tomorrow when I follow-up with a blade shave after the Panasonic shaver.

Did you find the Panasonic to be any easier or a quicker way to shave?  I always thought the main advantage of electric razors was that you could avoid using shaving cream, gel, etc.  But if you're using the oil anyway, it doesn't seem like it would be any easier.  It's amazing, though, to know that there's an electric shaver that can actually shave as close as a blade.

Red,

I use a dry Braun electric and love it! I am quite curious about the Panasonic wet shave like in this vid. I looks like it mows down real good!

You know I would love to give an electric a spin over the 'ol noggin...just not sure if a foil shaver or rotary shaver is better.

I can 100% from evperience tell you that a Foil is ultimate over a rotary. My dad has a high end rotary and it was garbage compared to my high end braun foil. He even like it so much he threw his rotary away and bought a Braun. They are sweet man!

Excellent! Thanks for the advice, Nick!

Since I'm only one week into daily head shaving I can't say whether or not it's quicker.  I don't have my routine perfected yet to get my head shave done as quickly as possible.  I'm concentrating on getting it totally smooth.  After a couple more weeks I should have it down pat.  The Panasonic enabled me to go over the stubble again and again without irritation, however I would not do this without the shaving oil or razor burn would probably occur.  This morning I used Anthony Pre-Shave Oil, Gillette shaving gel and a Schick Extreme 3 razor to do my whole head.  The result are pretty smooth.  I still need to learn how to feel for all the stubble with my fingertips to get it all totally smooth.

Nick do you shave twice a day?
The Braun is great for the "second" shave of the day.

Red, stick with your HeadBlade. You'll never get as close a shave as you can with a blade.
Unless you have baby fine hair, electrics just don't cut it. no pun intended.

Panasonic Linear Vortex Head Shave:  Phase 2

OK, I'm on Day 13 of daily head shaving.  Today I used the Panasonic Linear ES8078S again.  Washed head with Bald Guyz Head Wash, rinsed.  Applied about 10 drops Anthony Pre-Shave Oil and started shaving.  This time I was careful to not over-shave the middle of my neck at the hairline to avoid irritation.  Followed the 'shave and feel' method in The Definitive Head Shaving video.  Once again I got a head shave comparable to a blade shave with no razor burn.  Had just a slight burn when I splashed on the astringent.  Today I used Matte for Men Head Care Lotion.  Did the head rub test . . . feels good.  The noggin must be toughening up after almost two weeks of shaving.

Between SimplyRed's and Nick's reviews on Panasonic and Braun electrics, I'm truly torn  ;D

I will say I have had prior experience with a Braun electric...no real complaints except that it did not give my neck a good shave. There was no burn or anything like that, it just didn't pick up everything on my neck, where the hair seems to grow in all sorts of directions. But I only used that electric on my face, not on the dome.

Alright, well, as many of you already know, I normally use an electric, and in fact use the ES 8164 s which is almost the same as the one in that video.  It still goes constant at 13,000 rpm the entire shave, and it really does work amazingly well with little to no irritation.  I still do enjoy using my fusion a few times a month, but this really is an amazing shave.  And yes, it really does shave almost as close as a blade if now just as close.  I know it may be hard to believe, but a friends wife is a hairdresser and she gave me a head rub the first time she saw me sly and asked how long it takes my to shave it and I told her maybe only an extra minute or two in the shower with the electric and she said she thought it was done by blade.  So yes, I still stand by my Panasonic and always keep it charged and take it with me everywhere.

This is the one I use, and I know you'll see the price, but that's in Canadian dollars, all said and done it was about $200 for me cause I'll show around and get each store to price match their competitors price match and so on.

Tell me what you do 'pre-shave'.  Use oil, HeadSlick?  I seem to have the best luck with just oil and plenty of it.

If you're using products please name them specifically.
