Hi guys, just found this site and it is awesome, tons of advice for a new headshaver. I've shaved in the past but tended to grow it back out only to want to be bald again. Just wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions on getting some color on my dome without worrying about getting a sunburn which has ruined the shave in the past. and any tips on keeping my dome from getting razor burn. I only have a small patch on the side of my head but i can't seem to get rid of it so any tips would be appreciated greatly. Thanks for the great site. I hope to get a pic on here soon. And be bald and proud for quite awhile now with the support of other headshavers.

Welcome bro!
Watch the natural tanning...wear sunscreen...things will even out in a few weeks naturally!
Post when it hits ya and post a pic!

I use dark tanning oil. when I'm out at the pool or camping. SPF4. I don't recommend 4 for everyone especially if your fair skinned. For me it works great. I have a lot of Indian genetics in me. It takes a LOT for me to burn.

Welcome shavedbald. I just joined this site today too. I've been headshaving for over two years and experimented with many products.
So here are my words of advice.
To answer your first question about getting color on your dome, this is the perfect time of the year to get it the natural way, from the sun. Put an SPF on and go outside and let nature do it's work. I don't believe in self-tanners. They usually cause an un-natural orange glo.
To answer your question about razor burn, refrigerate spray bottles of witch hazel and aloe vera gel. A spritz of each, and your good to go.

Welcome to SBG's shaved, good to have you with us. There's plenty of info on the topics you mentioned in the Headshaving sections.
Gradual sun is the best way to go, as BJ has said. I don't go for the sunless tanners either.
Check out aloe vera gel for after shaving, or you can try one of the best, in my opinion and a lot of my other sly bro's; Bald Guyz Moisture Gel. Works great and feels good after you're done.
Keep it smooth now, bro! O0

Howdy sb 25. Just a note on the razorburn. You might be pressing on your razor too much. I find myself doing that sometimes always trying to get a slicker shave(I suspect everyone here tries that!).

Welcome shavedbald!!! Glad you found us. There are several tips on avoiding razor burn, replace your blades more often, use less pressure, change gels, oils or other shaving lubes...

Welcome to the group SB! I'm new to the SLY forum too. To answer your questions: I have found that Head Slick shaving cream from Head Blade works GREAT! Best shaving cream I've used and I get no razor burn. A little bit of the stuff goes a long way. To get some color on my dome, I use an SPF15 sunscreen. That allows me to stay out in the sun pretty much as long as I want without burning, but enough of the rays get through to give me some good color.
