while i am sitting here working the nightshift i was wondering, what kinda hours does everyone work? i work 7 days in a row and then am off 7 days in a row. 12 hour shifts each work day. we rotate 1 week of days and then the next week is nights. gets long sometimes but really isn't bad. so that is my story, what is yours?

I used to work work 3 shifts:
8-430
9-6
12-9
They would be stagered on a weekly basis.
After our departments got amalgamated, I work 1 shift now, 9-6. Kinda sucks as I am home for only an hour before the little one has to go to bed but it's not forever.
For 3 years I worked 3rd shift at Whirlpool dishwasher plant. It was tough to get used to but the job paid very well.
I know a few guys who work a similar type shift Paulie, One friend of mine works in the Iron Ore mines in Western Australia and does the same thing you do only 2 weeks on ,2 weeks off. I dont know how you do it.

As a trucker my hours vary, but as I do a lot of over sized loads I mostly work from sun up to sun down, normally 7 days a week until I get back home again. I usually out for three or four weeks and then return home for a week to ten days.
This last time I was out for three months so I could afford to say home for a little over two weeks to help out with my mother following her throat cancer surgery. I'll be hitting the road again next week.

Pretty much the usual 9:00-5:30.
-
2300-0700, 4 shifts (32 hrs) per week. :XX
-
Being a recruiter, I kind of make my own schedule. But normally I get into work about 0930 and leave about 5:30-6:00. Sometimes there are situations where I wont get home until 9 though.
-
8-5 usually
in the summer it varies quite a bit depending on how fafr the drive to the job site is

I work from 7-3 most days. When I was younger I worked at a dairy that milked 3 times a day, the morning shift was 3:30-8, noon shift was 11-3 then ight was 8-1:30, different shifts had different things other than milking like feeding calves, shoveling feed, etc.

I work 18 days, 11.25 a day, no days off, then off to the next one until I've had enough and tell them I want some time off, which is about 2 months out. When I'm off I'll usually get a week but its usually 2 days travel to home then 2 days travel back to the job so I only get about 5 days off. But I'm doing what I love, and being single who the hell cares to go home or what you may call home.
-
I usually work in the daytime (9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday), except when I'm on a big project that has to be done "after hours".
-
Usually 7-4 m-f with weekends off.

I'm lucky. I work a 9 / 80 shift, that is 9 hour days over a 2 week period, with every other Friday off. Sweet!
-
I work Monday thru Friday 8-5...saturdays 8-around noon. Yes I only get one day off a week...but mondays are the days I can leave and go do things I need to do and get done...because we have a person who comes in on just mondays to help cover the store.
Then I work at the funeral home...but those days are different everytime. Im on call from 6pm-6am every other day except for the weekends( we rotate weekends) I will be on call from Friday at 6pm until Monday morning 6am...this is every other weekend) such as...this week i am on call Tues. and Thursday...next week I will be on call Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sat and Sun.

I am a financial manager for my company our "office hours" are 8-5 Central time, however I typically get to the office about 6:45am and leave around 5:45pm, As you can tell by the hours that I post my job does give me some felxibility to check up on the crew and post some. (just don't tell my employees)
-
I work Monday-Friday, the posted hours are 7:30 to 5:30 but I'm usually here much more than that. I usually show up anywhere between 6:30 and 7, sometimes earlier. I have been here as late as 7 o'clock somedays. I'm salary plus commission, so the boss could care less. Every two weeks I'll put in anywhere from 100 to 130 hours.
-
Monday thru Firday 6:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Off every other Friday.
-
M-T: 8:30 - 5:30/6:00
F: 9-3
Weekends: off
I'm a consultant, so those hours apply to the current client I am on
-
I'm always working, but I have the flexibility to work anywhere I need to, so it balances out.
-
Mine is complicated since my wife and I own our own business. We are open Monday - Friday 8 -5. However, I work Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 7p - 7a at a rural hospital. I'm the x-ray tech.
Here now actually. On the days I work nights I sleep from noon to 5:45pm and my wife takes care of the store.
-
I work 24 hrs on duty....48 hrs off

I think I may have the oddest schedule out there. As most know, I'm in Law Enforcement so I do shift work. There are basically 2 different shifts, the 8am to 8pm or 8pm to 8am. I mainly work nights cause that's when the most interesting things happen. Our rotation is somewhat odd though and rotates every 2 weeks, starting with Monday/Tuesday on, Wednesday/Thursday off, Friday/Saturday/Sunday on, Monday/Tuesday off, Wednesday/Thursday on and back to Friday/Saturday/Sunday off.
Where it REALLY gets odd though, is due to how I'm Federal, and all Federal Government employees in Canada are mandated to work the standard 7.5hr days. LOL, try to follow this now, every 8 weeks, on a normal 7.5hr day Monday to Friday you end up with 300hrs, but on the 11.5hr shifts we end up with 322hrs. SO, every 8 weeks, I get a stretch of 7 days off without having to use any vacation.
LOL so it's weird as hell but makes for lots of time off...
I think that's a basic rule of thumb for any Government though, if it makes sense, works and is easy, then they don't do it.

I work a 40 hour week. I work each day until I finish the work at hand. If we aren't authorized overtime, when I run out of hours, I'm done for the week. I usually run out of hours early Friday afternoon.
-
Week 1, Monday-Thursday, 6:30-3:30, Friday, 6-5 Saturday & Sunday, Off.
Week 2, Monday & Tueday, 6:30-4, Wednesday, Off, Thursday, 6;30-4, Friday, 6-5, Saturday,6:30-2, SundayOff.
I work in the warehouse of our local lumber yard and am on sceduled overtime. If I go over that set overtime limit, i usually try to leave early on Friday so my boss does'nt get chewed out by corporate. 5t*mp
-
I work 130-10p 5 days a week with days off being usually rotating between Monday-Thursday... I've only had 2 weekends off the entire year of 2008!
-
Currently I work when I get a freelance gig...
since I'm an old fart I can't do too many all night work till you drop sessions..
usually start at 9:00am..finish whenever I get the job complete..
but for the record I'm still retired! ;)
-
9:15-9:15, I get every other sunday off
-
My usual hours when I go to the office are about 8 to 6 M-F. However b/c of being a consultant, that changes when I'm at a client or on the road visiting leases. Luckily we are flexible so, Blackberry+Laptop means I can work at home if I need to, however I'm not too productive when I do that.
-
I work 3:00 pm - Midnight, Mon - Fri. Depending on how far behind we are, I'll sometimes work'til 1 am on weekdays and 4-6 hours OT on Saturday.
-
I work second shift, which right now is 1300-2130, due to our adjustment to the time change.
-
M-F 7:30am-4:30pm. My last job was nights and weekends.. its been a nice change.
-
Retired .....work part time in a funeral home when needed......may start doing some consultant work I have been asked to do....but don't intend to go back to any 9 to 5 job..... :)
-
Monday - Thursday 6:30 - 5:00
It's nice having three day weekends.
Besides my full time job, I also have a small business, so I just cram that work in whenever.
-
7:00 AM-5PM Monday through Friday. Sometimes later in the summer months and one Saturday a month. I run a pest control route and have about 9-12 stops a day.
-
I work approx. 100hrs a week, on a 21 days on/ 7 days off shift (but 2 of the off days are paid travel). Alas, it's a young man's game and I'm not getting any younger. ;)
-
