Title: Memorial Day
Post by: Sooner Steve on May 23, 2008, 10:56:30 AM
It seems to me we take holidays for granted.  I'm not sure a lot of our younger generation understands what Memorial Day is.

Just curious, what does it mean to our members?

to me it means a weekend of spending time with family and friends.  Having cook outs and doing outside activities.  I understand the meaning of it as it commemorates those who have lost their lives in wars.  We also use it for a time to remember those loved ones that we lost.

It's a day to remember those military men and women who have given their lives for this country!  It began after the Civil War.  O0

Not to say I won't be doing some BBQing too! O:O

First and foremost I give thanks to all the brave men and women who have given their lives for the freedoms and liberties that so many of us take for granted.

Secondly Memorial Day marks the first outdoor family BBQ and wearing of sandals and shorts. Bought a new pair of cargo shorts at Target just for the occasion. Honoring our fallen heroes and family that we have lost. We also take a day to tend to the family plot. There is no caretaker for that particular cemetery, so it is up to the families.

two people in history have died for us:  1. JESUS CHRIST    2 THE AMERICAN SOLDIER

we should honor our soldiers, fallen and alive. i feel like once you have served your country, you are to be respected forever.  thanks again to all who have served or are serving. you are all heroes.
