Is anyone else going to see this movie? I have never been more excited for a movie (although I was pretty excited for Live Free or Die Hard, not to mention I have major excitement for The Dark Knight). Ever since I was old enough to actually understand a movie, which was probably 1990, I have watched all three of the Indiana Jones movies about 20 times each year. I can nearly quote the movies verbatim which is embarrassing and awesome at the same time.
As much as Cate Blanchett disappoints me in the trailer, nothing is more exciting than seeing Harrison Ford with the whip and hat again.
I have tickets Wednesday night at 11:59 pm. I cannot wait!
-
I'm looking forward to seeing it but will, as usual, wait for the DVD.
-
Same here. It does look like a pretty darn good flick.
-
i actually think it's going to be really bad. i hope not, just have that feeling.
-
I hope it's good...I love the series!
Let us know what you think!
-
the wifey & i can't wait 2 see it, also! O0
WARHAWK O0
-
Will definitely have to catch that one.
-
I wanted to be Indiana Jones when I was a little kid. You bet I'm going to see this movie!
-
I hate to be a party pooper but the advance word that I've read is that it's a stinker.
Too bad if that's true since I'm a huge fan of Indy........ :-* (my 6 year old daughter picked the smiley)
-
I never listen to critics. They are usually wrong.

Very true. ;D
-
Actually, you are a little off on your hearings. The majority of the critics love the movie. Approximately 75% (out of about 150 of the major critics in the US) like or love the movie. Only 25% think it's bad.
Even through all of that, most of them said, if you love Indiana Jones, you will love this.
I can't wait!

I'll definitely see it in the theater just to get the big screen effect. However, not looking forward to a 65 year old Harrison Ford try and re-create the action scenes from 27 years ago.
I just rented the three movies so my kids could see them all.
-
LOL....so did I but for me to watch.

I wonder if Short Round will make a cameo appearance in the new film? bring back Kate Capshaw!

You call him "Dr. Jones", lady!!!!

I don't know how I missed this thread before. I'm excited about the new movie, watched the other 3 in the past two weeks a couple times each to prepare. I'm definitely gonna catch it sometime this weekend.

No time for love Dr Jones!

I love Short Round! The best character to grace the Indiana Jones screen besides Indy himself.
-
After the weekend, I have already seen the movie twice. I absolutely loved it. If you like the other three movies, this is a can't-miss.
Granted, there are some parts that are entirely cliche and cringe-worthy, but for the most part, the good outweighs the bad. Indy is back!
Harrison Ford is not trying to do the same stunts he did 19 years ago with the last one; actually, he is TRYING to do the same type of stunts, but the outcome of the stunts is what makes the perfect. He actually acts his age. He knows he can't do the same stuff he could do back then.
-
I didnt think it wsa better than say a B-. The story line was silly. It was entertaining however for $10.50 on a sundy nite.
-
Let's be honest, what Indiana Jones movie doesn't have a silly plot?
-
It wasn't a great movie, in fact it was probably the worst in the series, but I still loved it. I'd gladly see it again.
-
this movie was a huge letdown...but not as bad as the star wars phantom menace
-
I'll catch it DVD. I didn't buy a 57" HDTV and a HD-DVD player for nothing. Actually I HATE going to movie theaters. That's a whole 'nother thread. HHMMMM......I think I'll start that one right now.............
-
I saw it last week, and it was ok. I still love the original Raiders of the Lost Ark the best. As unreal as some of the action stunts are in the series, I can't remember ever saying, 'oh come on, that's ridiculous,' until I saw this one. If you're a fan, I'd still recommend going, but find a cheapey theater like we did -- $2.75 per ticket , because it's not worth paying full price at one of the big stadium theaters.

I don't think there is a single person out there that DOESN'T like Short Round!
He no nuts, he's crazy!
I keep telling you, you listen to me more, you live longer!
I'm very little! You cheat very big!
Feels like I step on fortune cookie!
That no cookie!
Wow! Holy Smoke! Crash landing!
Okey dokey, Dr. Jones.
Hold on to your potatoes!
I step where you step! I touch nothing!
You call him Dr. Jones, doll!
You say to stand against the wall! I listen to what you say! Not my fault! Not my fault!
Maybe he likes *older* women.
Hey, Dr. Jones, no time for love. We've got company.
Hang on lady, we going for a ride!
Hey, lady! You call him Dr. Jones!

I always go into a movie with a willingness to suspend my disbelief. But when my wife and I saw this one I had a really hard time staying in the moment. The production quality was limited, somewhat unprofessional. A lot of lines seemed forced or totally out of place. The screenwriters (?) seemed to see things late, for example, there was a scene where the Jones party was walking through a tunnel with lit torches. My wife and I both wondered aloud how they got the torches lit. In the next scene it showed one member of the party take out a lighter and light a torch and then explain why he had the lighter with him. It was one of those moments where I was kind of taken out of the movie for a minute to wonder why they did that. It sort of spoiled the continuity of the story in that moment. There were a number of spots in the script that struck me as being disjointed in that way.
I was disappointed in this one but maybe I'm too critical. It just seemed that the first one, especially, flowed effortlessly and this one was really forced. I always judge sequels against originals which, I think, is difficult to avoid.

I just recently saw this movie with my g/f's 8 yo son. Although I did not find it as entertaining as the others, it did bring a kind of finality to the saga. Area 51, Roswell? :D I don't know. It seems that this group could have collectively come up with a better story line. 8) But in the end I was glad I saw it, though I had to explain a few things to the young one during the movie.
