I'm new to Sly. I had some obnoxious spiked up hair in high school before it was cool, when it was cool, and then after it was cool. :*))
I decided to go 180 and get a crew cut, but no stylist would do it. Three places actually refused to give me the cut I wanted! I bought a set of clippers and did it myself. I've played with the length and finally shaved a few years ago. Pretty wild when strangers come up to you and ask if they can touch your head! 8) As for the gear, I don't use HeadBlade stuff (never tried, but I'm considering it). Edge shave gel and Gillette Mach 3 blades have been the best combo I've found. When I started I was using some 99-cent can of Barbasol and disposable blades. :'( Anyhoo, I'm glad I found this site. Time to go poke around.

I remember being told that a crewcut 'flat top' would cost me extra when i asked for one before going sly. Something to do with it being a difficult cut to get right! :/O The guy who was my barber was sly, so probably he was a little out of practice?! ;D

Don't mess with success. No need to change your shaving gear.

Thanks for the welcome! I grew up in Chi-town but have been part of the frozen chosen in Minneapolis the last 10 years or so.

Welcome Black Irish. I, too, am a former Chicagoan, but I decided to move south to a milder climate (southern Ohio, and it really is milder...)
"Stylists" don't like crew cuts. There's no future in them because they are too easy to do yourself. My DW bought our first set of clippers when the barber I went to raised his price to $9.00. Paid for themselves the third time she used them on me..

I've noticed we have quite a few Chicagoans who have left for warmer climates out here in AZ.
If you try the HeadSlick shave cream from HB, I guarantee you'll like it. It's one of the best you can get.
