I had to buy some more Headslick today and I noticed an aisle display for the Fusion, which gave all the reasons it is supposedly superior to the Mach III. I thought it was rather interesting that Gillette is targeting one of its own products, as opposed to a competitor's, to market the Fusion. Makes me wonder if they are planning to phase out the Mach III eventually. Anybody know?

razor: no... i haven't heard of that. although i'm a big fan of the fusion (manual)...i hope that gillette doesn't phase out the mach III because i know a lot of people such as U that use it daily. i seriously doubt that they will phase it out.

Probably

That's what I think, too. Otherwise, why pit two of their own products against each other?
-
I think it is all a marketing ploy. The fusion may not be selling all that well when it comes to refill cartridges. Think of it as a windows vista/xp thing. Not many want to switch from something that works.
-
Well, if a company competes against itself, it is often called "cannabalism." I think that Gillette is partially doing this, but yet would still like to see the Mach III sell. At the end of the day, they want the Fusion to thrive for some time until they come out with the Mach Turbo Extreme Cold Fusion Holy sh*t 7 Blade Run For Your Life Supercool 2010 razor. That should beat out all of the competition when it comes out.

I hope they dont. I love my M3, although I have yet to try a Fusion. Is there really a difference between these two?

I use a Fusion and love it. I hope they don't go away. Is the Mach III comparable? less expensive?

i have tried both and the fusion (manual) gets me the smooooothest. O0 however... if U love the M3...then i would stay with it.

Cool, I'm going to pick one up. I need another nice razor anyway. O0

The Fusion is absolutely the best razor I have ever used. I use it and HeadSlick on my face and head. Just get it all done at one time.
I use the fusion manual and I am super smoooooooth O:O

Mach III blades are much cheaper than Fusion blades. About $2 apiece.

Razor - Do you get as nice a shave?

I think so. The Mach III is what I started with and I've pretty much stuck with it because if it ain't broke, why fix it? I got a free Fusion in the mail when they first came out. It did a good job, but I didn't think it was any better than the Mach III. I don't like how bulky the Fusion head is, so because of that and the higher price for the replacement blades, I went back to the Mach III.
-
Razor, Have you noticed the new Mach III Jetable (disposable)? They are new and are every bit as good as a regular Mach III. Only the is cost is less than the Mach III blades. I doubt if they phase out the disposible version, since it is new. The Mach III is still a very good razor.

I did see those in the store a while ago, but didn't pay too much attention. I am still working on those blades I bought off eBay a while back for 97 cents each. It will take me another two or three years to use those up, so I don't have to worry about the Mach III disappearing until then.
-
I hope they keep The Mach 3 around a while. I agree with RazorX about the Fusion. Too wide for my upper lip...like shaving with a 2x4 there, but it does a good job on my head. I traded my HeadBlade with one of the SBG members for a Fusion and a few blades...can't say I was diappointed in how close it shaves, just prefer the minimalist approach with the Mach3 and a simple can of Edge gel. I think that the Mach III give the most bang for your shaving buck. The Fusion may do a little better. But for the money, I prefer the Mach III.
-
I'm still annoyed that Gilette still sells Atra blades, but you can't buy the handles. Maybe that's what they'll do with the Mach III. I used to use the Atra for shaving my face until I broke my handle. All I can use the handle for now is to pull my blades out of the package to use on my Headblade. You can buy the handles on ebay, but I am one of probably only 5 people in the world who has never used ebay.
-
I hope not, since I find the Mach III one of the top razors around. I use it on and off with my Atra and I find these two to work fine for me.
I don't use the Mach III as much for my face as it's hard to get in close to detail my goatee, but it is great for my cleanup and touchups on the noggin. I have used it to shave my head a few times and it does work great.
I agree with Stu on the Atra handles, why do they not sell them anymore?, I am a big fan of Atra and it is my blade of choice for both my face and head.
I still have my handle from years back and I don't plan on getting rid of it, it has a great feel and a heft similar to a DE. I may have to check out ebay and see what they have. (I'm also one of those 5 Stu, lol.)
I haven't tried the jetables yet, but will have to pick some up next trip to Walgreens.
I've said this before and will say it again, I'm not a fan of the fusion, I think it's overkill and I remember saying years back, jokingly, what will Gillette do next, eight blades, ten blades?, they're almost there, how far can you go? lol. :/O
-
I'm with Razor on this one. Those Fusion blades just cost too much and the shave, to me, is not that superior to my Gillette Sensor. The Sensor blades cost less than half of what the Fusion blades cost.
On a side note............ WELCOME LUPULUS!!!!
-
Personally the sensor excel was better on my skin than the mach, and now with fusion out i dont know what they would need mach 3 for.
-
The Mach III is on par with the Fusion. I get a much better face shave with the Mach III as well.

Actually Stu I think that number is down to 3 as 2 of the people on the list have started using the site.
