I'm newly bald and hail from Northern Virginia.
Funny thing about my story. I'm a big New York Giants fan, and after beating Green bay in the NFC championship i made the comment that should the Giants win the Super Bowl, i would shave my head. Low and behold they pulled it off and some people with good memories called me on it. So one night, slightly intoxicated, I went about butchering my head. Clippers weren't fully charged but I got most of the hair off, then went straight to the razor. I wore out several blades and cut my dome to shreds. Finally quit about half way through and went to the barber the next day to finish me off.
I let the hair grow back, but the whole time I thought about how nice it was being bald, but refrained from putting myself through the torture again. Then, bored last night and through the magic of the internet I stumbled across this site and read the tips/product recomendations etc for a good hour.
Stopped by wal mart this morning looking for some of the products mentioned and wouldn't you know, they had none of it. i came up with my own concoction with mixed results.
Here is how i went about it.....
Trimmed the hair with clippers
Soaked my head in warm water (per recomendations on this site) and coated with Neutrogena Body Oil http://www.drugstore.com/qxp16993_333181_sespider/neutrogena/body_oil_fragrance_free.htm
used a Norelco electric razor to get the stubble as close as possible.
Once again soaked head and applied the oil.
Used a Gillette Fusion to shave
Applied Witch Hazel, let dry and applied more body oil.
The electric razor really helped make it easier to shave since i was only shaving fine stubble, but I still have some irritation and a few minor knicks. I really need a better shaving oil/gel/cream. Of course it could also be that i am a chronic multi stroker, even on my face I'll make way too many passes to get every stubble I feel. I'm going to go around looking for some of the tried and true products mentioned here.
So thats my story, sorry for the long winded post and hopefully 'll continue to be bald.

Get this....
A few hours ago i went to the Exxon station less than 1/4 a mile away. there is a chick in there who is uber hot, most lilely out of my league.
So i buy 2 12 packs...now, they know I'm a alchy and know 2 12 pack really isn't out of the ordinary for me. but this hot chick makes the comment and asks if I'm having a party, i says yeah, a party for one. She says she would come by for the party. I tell her sure, right down the road. So a few hours later, i run out of beer and have to go back (again, i have an extremely high tolerance, I ak no where near buzzed).
The first time, i wore a hat, this time, I rock the new do,. i get my beer and she gasps 'what did you do"? I say, "Oh, my new hair cut? what, is it not me?" She says "No, but it makes you look cute." When she said no, I said it would look better once the noggin got some sun, talked right over the "it makes you look cute" part. So againb, after i shut up, she says.."it makes you look cute."
She totally digs the new me. O0

A little update... I bought the Head Blade, head slick and head lube matte.
I like the head blade, but can't say i am really soldon the head slick.
I'll keep trying different things to find what works for me, my brother in laew asked a blad guy he knows what he uses and he said Noxzema to shave with.
I'm still getting a little too much razor burn, but i've been trying to get some sun on it and see if that helps (using sun screen of course).
Just wanted to say thanks again fro the support and the advice available on the site, I hope you allknow exactly how helpful this place is to guys thinking of shaving.

(Giants fan myself).
Anyway, it's cool to hear you plan on staying smooth and slick and you're having a positive reaction from the uber hot chick, go with it bro! O:O
Also, stick with the HeadBlade, once you get used to it and master it, you'll be glad you did.
Enjoy the forum and the new you. O0
