Title: newbie and not shaved yet.
Post by: Bensen on May 12, 2008, 02:23:33 PM
hi people! just joined that forum here today. i'm from germany and found nothing similar in german. it's a good forum so far i can say that.

me? i'm 34, a balding man and had never shaved my head, just keeping it short. the more hair are gone, the more i think about to shave it off. but i still have doubts about the reactions around me and how it will look like. i guess it's feeling like beeing naked at the first couple of days. or so.

greets to all the baldies here!

Ben, welcome to Sly Bald Guys!  We have a couple German guys here.  From your picture, I would say that you're not too far off from shaving it.  Keep buzzing it down closer and closer to see how it will look.

Welcome Ben!

Look at it this way, if you think other guys look good completely shaved smooth...why wouldn't you look great too? If you also think about it,how come they can run around totally hairfree and shiny without getting flack from those around them...why would you be so different from any of us...and be looked down on by the world around YOU?

Go shave your head bro if that's what YOU want (and like)...and everyone else will just have to get used to the new "slyer" you! ;)

Let us know how you do! O0

Welcome to the forum.  Its great here, as i'm sure you'll soon discover.  Keep taking the hair down closer and closer and in a week or so you'll be ready to shave it, believe me.  that's what happened to most of us here.  When you do there'll be no going back to hair again! 8)

Ben32, that short buzz does look awesome, so I wouldn't hesitate to keep it like that or completely smooth.  Either look suits you perfectly.  NO MORE FUZZ, NO MORE FUZZ, NO MORE FUZZ!  Go for it, sir.

Welcome Ben.  As low as you have shaved it you won't look much different once you take it all the way down.  But you feel a whole lot better.  O0

Welcome and don't be afraid to shave it off.  If you just don't like it, you will be grown back to a short buzz in about a week.  My feeling is the same as so many that have already posted, once you do it, you will wonder why you didn't do it years ago!

Also bear in mind that while this is a very big deal to you, it isn't to anybody else.  No offense, but the rest of the world sees you as a bald guy already and they've seen you with a very short buzz cut.  No one's going to bat an eye when you shave it smooth.  It will just be seen as the logical next step.

We all had doubts about shaving, but since you keep it so short anyway, it'll only be a couple of weeks before it grows back to normal if you don't like the sly look.

I shaved from a number 1 buzz.  I had been wearing that short for about year before finally shaving it bald.  Very few people ever noticed the difference.

i guess that is also my way to go.
it established the 1/4 inch step 4 weeks ago, and it seems to work for me.
(next on my clipper 1/8 and than 0)

i begin to feel kinda stupid to think too much about it.

Special Thanks to Rick (SLYinKC) btw.

It is amazing how stressful it is to go from 1/8" of hair to bald, I thought about it long and hard before I finally did it.  Once it was gone I was so very happy with the results and wondered "why did I worry so about shaving?"  You will not regret it!

No problem, Ben.  You'll get there.  Just don't put too much thought into it.  We all tend to make a bigger issue of it than it really is.  Just be true to yourself and what you really want.

Hey Ben, welcome to the SBG's!, good to see you are slowly taking it down. For some guys that seems to be an easier way to go. I did myself, but I can tell you the space of time from a 1 to 0 went very quick for me.
The best thing you can do is get your blade of choice and just do it. This is the advice I got from all my bro's here, and trust me, it works.
You will soon find yourself saying " why didn't I do it sooner"?

Good luck and keep us posted.
