Title: Question For BBC Guys
Post by: Da_Rev_Juggalo on May 08, 2008, 12:26:03 PM
Ive Noticed The Last Few Weeks My Hair Is Getting Thicker When I Go to Shave It. Its Gooten To The Point I Have To Use 2 fresh Blades To Get Completely Smooth And Its Starting to Get Expensive I  Have To Use My Mach 3 First Then My Headblade Second to Get A Completely Smooth Head And Was Wondering If Anybody Else Had That Problem Or Has Any Siggestions For Me. All Help Would Be Appreciated.

Do you shave both with and against the grain?  What type of shaving cream/oil/gel are you using?

I'll add to Tyler's, do you shave at the sink or in the shower?

I Shave Against The Grain With The Mach 3 First Then Against The Grain With The Headblade Tyler And I Use HeadSlick As My Cream I Also Run My Head Under Ice Cold Water for Like A Minute To Close The Pours Then Use Bald Guys Moisture Gel Its The Same Routine I Been Using The Only Diff Is I Have to Use The Mach 3 Now First Cause Its Getting Courser And I Shave Over A Sink

Do you shower before you shave to generally hydrate and soften the hair, or just "head" into the blade stuff dry?

Have you tried HeadShed or St. Ives before shaving?  It could help break down the hair a bit before shaving.

Are you shaving as soon as you get up Rev, or are you allowing at least an hour?   Also try Warhawks addition of the alcohol, sure seems to give me a smoother, longer lasting shave.

I have (had) really thick coarse hair... At this point I am using a fresh blade EVERY time I shave - which is getting expensive.

I am very new to the sly guy style, so my technique is very young at this point..

It takes me at least 15-20 minutes to shave my head to get it smooth. I make several passes against the grain. Rinse head, dry, feel all over for hair that I missed - and touch up a few areas to make sure ALL is smooth.

I will keep tuned in to your thread to see what other tactics are given as I know I will need to find an alternate method before Gillette takes me to the bank...

try using a blade a couple of times not a new one each time some of us have discussed that the first cut and the last cuts are the worst for blades its the cuts in the middle that seem to do the best.
