hello fellow chrome domes: have U ever participated in bungee jumping or sky diving? i'll start: well... i've tried bungee jumping (once). i remembered like it was yesterday. i was in my early 20s and my girlfriend and i were spending the weekend in panama city beach, florida. anyways... we were having a good time and she "dared" me 2 go bungee jumping. anyways... being young and "dumb"... i said... "sure... i'll do it". anyways... while i was in line waiting. all the potential bungee jumpers like me had 2 sign these insurance papers in case if we got injured that we wouldn't sue them. i shoulda stopped and turned around but being young and "dumb" i signed the papers. :/O
while waiting in line... i noticed that the "jump" was equilivant to a 20 story building. well... it was my turn and me & the bungee employee went in this cage-like container in which we were up 20 stories. :-\ as we finally stopped... we were 20 stories up and i was having 2nd thoughts. :-\ :-\ :-\ well... i couldn't back down and look like a "chicken" or coward in front of my girlfriend. right??? anyways... i closed my eyes and free-falled. man... what a rush!!! that was fun but i don't think that i'll do that again. :o
so... how 'bout U? have U ever participated in bungee jumping? sky-diving? thinking about? wanna try it? or heck no... i'm never doing either. what's your story?

Well Mel,
First they'd have to have one heck of a strong bungee and a high enough platform for me to try it, I'd probably hit ground before it snaped back up. Having said that, I'd realy love to try sky diving or even hand gliding, even if only just once.
-
I havent tried either...although I almost took a dive off my ladder this evening while working on my siding and I was only 2 stories up...I dunno...always said I would be brave enough to do it but have never done it. One thing that I seen at Panama City Beach was that thing that they tie you to and pull you back and you go soaring thru the air like you are flying..now that might be cool...but to jump straight down in hopes teh cord isnt long enough to hit the ground...I would be shittin my pants...Maybe I will bungee with my red and whites...anyone wanna come watch??

I'm with Tom, on the bugee, I've never seen one that didn't have a weight limit that I fit into so dam I guess I'll never be able to bungee $c#m
As far as sky diving goes I ain't getting a perfectly good plane let alone jupming out of the dam thing :px :/O
-
I'd go skydiving, a guy I used to work with was going to take me, but he quit before we got the chance. After riding bulls, there's not much I wouldn't do.

I've bungee jumped and loved it. I would definitely sky dive.
-
Never done either activities and you could not pay me enough to try.
I have an intense fear of heights, I get cold sweats and panic attacks whenever I am more than 20 feet above the ground. I freaked out in a glass bottomed elevator once that went up the outside of a casino. Got to about the 40th floor and had to sit down and close my eyes. My palms were literally dripping with sweat.
Kudos to anyone who has the balls to have bungee jumped or sky-dived. My best friend went sky-diving a few years ago and he said the adrenaline rush that he got from it lasted all day.
-
I don't think my back could handle a bungie.
I had a trip planned in J-ville to skydive with a co-worker who did it all the time. 2 weeks before the trip he slipped in his shower and had a blood clot form in his neck, he stroked out and it paralized him. He told me he thought he was gonna die, was a bad deal. Took a while for him to learn to speak again. I gotta say he has made the best of it though. He doesn't have full use of his right arm, but he actually does archery by pulling the arrow back with his teeth.
Anyway, I just didn't feel right booking another trip since then, haven't met anyone I trust enough to show me how to properly pack a chute!

no way no how not happening.
-
I went bungee jumping in New Zealand...what a rush. I'll tell you, jumping 550+ feet sure cures a hangover quick
-
And why would I want to leave an airplane if it was still working????
-
No to both. I've leared many times that gravity is not my friend.
-
I don't like jumping out of bed ;D
-
Never done either....... Bungee jumping no way........... I would try sky diving...
-
I'd do either one/both given the opportunity and the extra cash to afford it.
I did ride the Royal Rush skycoaster at the Royal Gorge in Colorado. It's like what Timmay was describing, but you swing out over the Royal Gorge so when you look down, the ground is 1300 feet down. :D It was totally wicked :o They screwed up my DVD of the ride though, so that sucked.

My skydiving experience was back in the early 90's. I took a class, and then jumped out of a perfectly good airplane. When I exited I bounced off of the wheel and the whole plane dumped to the side for a moment. They thought I had been knocked out but I was fine .. just trying to finish peeing my pants so I could enjoy the trip. It is kind of like, "AAAAAAAAAA", then your shute pops out and its like, "Uh, wow, this is pretty cool. Im suppose to land where?"
I didn't land quite right and ended up in a crumpled ball on the ground amist a cloud of dust. I spent the next month in a knee brace.
I saw no need to repeat the experience.

I would do either in a flash. Sounds like fun. The closest I have come to anything like that was the Big Shot on top of the Stratosphere in Vegas. That was awsome!
-
I thought we were all gonna sky dive in for the convention....like Viva Las Vegas Elvis style........
-
Oh sure, and I bet you want the Red and White parachutes, eh Timmay?
-
Of course....
-
Weird thing is...I dont even like Red...not my favorite color....maybe that is why I dont wear it that much...
-
I used to fly them and I had to wear one but there is no way I am jumping from a perfectly safe airplane.
-
I don't think there's enough room in that little backpack for the extra underwear I would need after I got done crapping myself.
-
I haven't done either of those activies but.... Parasailing and Zip Lining is a total rush man.
But this Inverted Bungie/Parashuting (http://www.fhm.com/Site/Article.aspx?ID=23806) would be AWESOME!

Many years ago, preparing for an "orientation flight" in a Navy A4T, part of the training was an ejector seat simulator. They had a mock-up of a cockpit and the seat rode up on a rail. The fun part is that they actually blasted you out with a 1/3 the actual explosive charge that is used in the aircraft.
The instructor told us that of the three triggers, the preferred method is to reach up over your head and pull down on the handle with both hands. A little nylon screen covers your face, he said, "The people who designed it will tell you that it is to protect you from the wind blast as you exit the cockpit at 500 MPH, but really, its because you don't wanna see what's gonna happen next..."
I survived getting blasted out of the simulator, but I have no desire to leave an aircraft that has any chance of staying in the air.
Bungee jumping, I don't think my back could take it.
Now, parasailing, I'd like to try...
-
I get over excited just by jumping up and down on a trampoline!! :/O
so definitely not either.
-
Parachuting is a BLAST!!! I've done it a few times and would love to do it again, but bungee jumping? Not a chance in HELL I'd even go near one!
-
NO NO NO! :o
Give me a parachute even for jumpin out of bed, man! :D
-
I was in the 82 Airborne in the mid 80's, Yes I would and have jump from many perfectly safe airplane, and from one that was not so safe. (That one was an unscheduled jump) but I would never consider strapping my ass to a cord used for tying down cargo in my truck, no matter how thick it is, and jumping. Why you may ask? Well simple. In parachuting, you have a reserve chute that you can pull in case the crap hits the fan with the first one. I don't see people being attached to a reserve BUNGEE........ :*))

I tried jumping from the top of a apple tree with a bedsheet when I was around 8 years old....thought for sure it would work.....didn't break anything but sprained my ankle pretty bad.... :/O
