Max here, Bill Xam is my stage name. I've got thick curly hair, or I did until this last Wed. evening. I had a lot of thoughts about doing the shave - I had the tire tracks of receding hairline, bad hair days, every 4 weeks I had to grab the scissors and clip, I HATED the way my forehead looked on camera like I was a ground sloth so I always wore a hat on camera.
I thought a few weeks ago about shaving for my 50th. Then the wife announced that she thought that it was a great idea. And then my baseball team lost the first 7 games of the season so I had to do something to change the mojo and volia', now I own 4 very dull razors, one worn out pair of scissors, got to know my styptic stick real good and am the proud owner of a Headblade (jury's out on that deal).
The best news is that it turns out I have a great shaped skull for shaving and the 6 inch long scar (50 stitches from surgery) looks wild. Now I gotta figure out how to suntan it. And I look like a bada** on camera now.
That's me, nice to be here. Any suggestions on adjusting lights to reduce the shine off the cue ball on camera?

Nice dude! I'm glad you like it! Unfortunently, I have no suggestions for you except to not use Glossy headlube! lol.

From what I've learned so far in the past few days, Lubriderm works real well to dull the shine (feels nice too and killed the razor burn in one night) but I probably need some of that there SPF action too.
-
Welcome nla, great story. Have you tried the HeadLube matte to reduce the shine?

Not yet. My local Meijers (believe it or not) had the products but I just picked up the Headblade and the Slick creme. I'm still working on getting the old noggin' down to a smooth surface. We're going to shoot some test shots tomorrow to see how the shine looks on camera. I figure a low level light with a haze filter will do the trick. Gotta keep that scar standing out.

nla...looks cool man. For me I like the shine, but like you said, might not work well with the camera's. What kind of work do you do? I know you say you are on camera lot....but that could mean web camming LOL...just kidding.
Glad you are here...hope to get to know you better and hope you will be an active member..
See ya

We have a cabin in northern Michigan that is powered by a hybrid system (generator, solar, battery bank). I host an alternative energy show called "This Old Shack" in which I drink beer and show viewers how it all works. We're in the third season and actually sold part of the second season until the company that bought it discovered that I wasn't on the same page as their backers. I also do video shorts. Think of it this way: you sit around with your friends (in my case my wife) and joke around. I actually make videos about it like my teenager cleaning the house. I can post links but that should probably in an off topic forum.

YEA!! Another Michigan guy. Welcome Max, great to have you here! Give me a shout sometime.

Welcome nla-entertainment, to the SBG family. Like others have already suggested try using the Head Lube "Matte" as for an SPF try Head Shade, sun block.

We just laid down my first shoot with the bald noggin. I'll post links in the misc. forum. I pitched a mothers day cooking show too - that would be a hoot.

nla, welcome to the SBG's!, glad you joined us in slydom. Good to hear you picked up a Headblade too. Give it a try and be sure to follow the instructions; no pressure on the blade end. Go slow.
I have to agree with my bro's and say give the Headlube Matte a shot.
Enjoy this great forum. O0
