New guy here and I took the plunge today. 2nd time actually. Tried it a year ago, and didn't show a single person other than my wife. I wore a hat the whole time. I have had short hair for about 10 years courtesy of my 6 years in the Marines. Once I slowly got away from the high and tight, I really realized how much it was creeping in the front. Here I am 30 now, and totally shaved. Trying to get the courage to roll with it, having alot of looks in the mirror thinking...WTF did I do.

josh... 1st of all welcome 2 the sly fraternity. glad that ya found us. i say wear the slick, smooooth dome proud and show the world. that's exactly what i did when i finally "did the deed". like baldandre mentioned give it the "30 day trial". it is the unwritten rule in the SBG forum. after the 30 days... one will decide 2 keep it slick or grow it out. usually one keeps it smooooth. anyways... jump in & join the fun by being an active member of the best site on the internet. post up your headshaving routine in the HEADSHAVING section of the forum.

Josh, welcome to the best site on the net. Don't judge your newfound slyness to harshly at first. Give yourself some time to get used to the look. We usually encourage guys to give it 30 days and then almost all of the time they love it! Don't be shy about asking questions either - a great group of people on here!

Welcome Josh, good to have you here. Don't go thinking you made a mistake, bro. Quite the contrary, as you will find out.
Give it a bit of time, it's always a bit awkward at first, but then it just becomes "you".
Like Warhawk said, give it the 30 day period at least. But I and all my other bro's can bet you will be saying " why didn't I do this sooner?".

Welcome Josh! I wondered what I did when I first went sly, but it really does grow on you. I feel terrible if I even go a day without being smooth now.

Welcome Josh. I grew mine back for about a month. I really missed feeling my head against the pillow though. That and the more people told me, Gee you sure looked better with hair, the more I decided I look better slick. I'd definitely keep it. Its a good look on you ..

Wanted to post an update. It took me about 10 days to really go out in public without a hat. I finally just rolled with it. My dad asked me why I did it, but didn't push any further. Last night, my mom saw it for the first time and said "I think it looks good." Her dad was bald and rocked the look.
So..here I am..with some sun on my bald head (thanks golf!) and I am really starting to dig it. Thanks again for the support guys. I could not have made it without you guys.

Wanted to update guys. Its cool to see this first post and remember the first day I did it.
Since shaving my head, I have gotten a new confidence. It took about 30 days (imagine that) and alot of trips here to read other people's advice to get cool with it and accept it. Now, I will never go back. I have also lost 27 pounds and am happier than ever.
So, if you are thinking of doing it. DO IT! Once you get a routine, and some sun on your head, you can't beat it.
