hey guys!
My name is Beau, i'm 22 years old, just about 23 and have been losing my hair for about 2 years now or maybe 3. I'm just now starting to accept the fact that there's nothing i can do about it, but i'm still really shy to take off my hat in front of people that i dont know.
I keep my hair really short. i.e just cutting it with clippers without a guard on. I'm very fortunate to have found a GORGEOUS girl whom i've been dating for about a year now, and she loves the way i look. anyways, i'm still pretty new at keeping my hair this short being THIS young and all.
anyways, i just thought i'd introduce myself to yall and i'm looking foreward to talking with some of you guys!

I know a lot of guys that wear hats for that reason...a funny thing is that I would do that before I went Sly, now I proudly show my dome...Maybe it's an alternative you should try...You can always grow back what you had before... O0

Nah i haven't tried shaving it completely down the to skin just yet... but i'm sure that day will come soon tho! The sad thing is that i see that a lot of the guys here have goatee's and i think that's a good look with a bald head, the sad part about it is that i cant grow one! lol, i've got a baby face and when i DO have to shave it's nothing thick!

Welcome brother, give the shave a try and you'll have nothing to hide anymore (literally), give it the 30 day trial and you'll be saying the same thing everyone else here has said "Why didn't I do this sooner???"

she's game for it i believe...she said that i have the right head shape for a bald head and that it would be a good look for me also... all i'd really have to do is tan that puppy up!

Being young doesn't mean you can't have a short/bald head. I Love it, my family likes it, my Girl Loves it. You just gotta do what you gotta do, and don't think about stereotypes, whatever makes you happy. I mean, Im 17 with a completely bald palate. So what, people say "white power" and "heil hitler" and "sigheil" when i pass by, but that's just people. You just got to turn the music up, and tune them out.

Hey Beau, I was one that always reached for a ball cap first thing in the morning. Now, I love going without a hat, especially after a fresh shave after going on a run.
Going sly is truly a liberating feeling. Obviously you won't know until you actually take the plunge. You have one thing going for you that I don't.....your lady supports the sly look. The Lovely Mrs. Schro hates the look on me, even after a year! Oh well, her loss.

Dude, like Tucker said, go with it and wear it with confidence, no matter what your age...a bald head does look cool bro...makes you seem like a straight forward, no nonsense type of guy to the world...and that is something to embrace!
The goatee thing...dude, most younger bald slick dudes don't have them these days...the "Mr. Clean" look seems to be the trend ....
a goat with a bald head looks good, even great...but it's NOT a requirement! ;)

Welcome, Beau. Don't worry about the goatee much...I can't grow one for the life of me.
When I finally took that last 1/8 inch of hair down to the wood (took me about 5-6 months going shorter and shorter to get up the nerve), I let the whole beard and facial hair go for about 6-7 days.
Then when I had the barber clipper it to the skin with a 00000 blade, I went home and shaved face and head...going from scruffy 5 o'clock shadow on the face and noggin to slick Mr. Clean like BALDANDRE suggested.
You'll dig it, bro...instant confidence boost. Just take the leap!

Beau, welcome to SBG! Sounds like you've got some great support from your GF so take the plunge and shave it off and then the hat issue won't bother you anymore. I had practically lived in a hat until I decided, much like you have, that there's really nothing more I could do, so just embrace it, beg for a few head rubs, and you'll be good to go. I haven't worn a hat once since I went SLY almost a year ago! Good luck and keep us posted!
