Title: Finally...against the grain!
Post by: PianoMan on March 12, 2008, 08:45:52 AM
For a month now I've been struggling going against the grain on the back of my head.  As I was shaving this morning there was no stopping!  I took my time, used lots of HeadSlick and was finally able to get it.  Hopefully now that I've gone over it once it will be easier.  So excited I had to share.... :)

I'm feelin' very SLY yoday  ;D

Good to hear, bro!, I fully understand too. I only started going against the grain in the last month and a half or so. I was only going with the grain pretty much all around, with the exception of the sides near the ears.
I finally said "let me see if I can do this", and started doing the top front to back and I gradually got used to it. It's awesome, and I get smoother than smooth. It's slick and clean.
I still can't go from back of neck up to top, it seems the blade digs in more there. Going to have to just go slow until I get used to the feel.

Way to go, Piano Man (great song, BTW).  I have been going against the grain for as long as I can remember.  Like the guys said, it just takes  practice and patience.  Hang in there, you'll get it.

congrats bald brother!  You,ve just stepped up to a new level of total baldness.  Nothing is like that feeling after a total against the grain headshave in the morning!

Nice Job.

It's tough to take that first step.  I know it took me forever to go sly - I used clippers for quite a while.  When I finally went sly a month or so ago, I started going against the grain right away.  I figured if I'm going to take a dip in the water I might as well jump.  :px

I just read a lot on this forum and just took my time.  Just  don't get cocky..one morning I went a little faster than I should have and nicked myself.  Lesson learned  :/O

Thats awesome man! I'm still trying to "break in" my head before I start going against the grain on the back and top.

Take your time bludger.... It took me a while before I could do it.  I just think it takes some time for your dome to "toughen up".  You'll know when you're ready  O0
