so...how 'bout U? do U prefer bottled water or tap water? there is not one day that i don't drink bottled water. so...what's your story?

i kinda like water straight from the garden hose. ha ha... actually i would go with bottled. but i do light to add those little crystal light packs to mine. my favorite is peach tea.
-
Hey Warhawk, I prefer bottled water also, but at home I also have a very good water filter, becaues you know what they say,,,, if you don't have a water filter,,,,you are one!!
-
I buy bottled water, drink it, and then refill the bottles with tap water and keep them in the 'frig. All I drink is water and a cup or two of hot tea a day. No sodas (YUCK!), milk, or juice(too much sugar) for me.
If I had to pay for all the water I drink i would have to live in my car..... and there's just no room for a shower in there. 8)

Tap water only. A good water filter is not only cheaper to utilize but far better for the environment.
-
I think that most studies have found that tap water is generally better for you than bottled water. The bottled water industry is largely unregulated and in some cases worse for you than regular old tap water. The bottled water industry has done a good job convincing the public that bottled water is healtier than tap water.
-
I drink whatever is available. I really can't tell the difference. I also use those little packets to pour in the water bottles. I go through a ton of the green tea (fruit flavored) one. O0
-
At home, tap water. We have a very good water system here. When I travel, there are certain cities I refuse to drink the tap water.
Not being a snob, just a funny taste in the water in certain parts of the country.
-
At home, I'm all about tap water... it's tasty and good!
I do drink bottled when I go to the gym or when I'm traveling though...
-
while working in TX i have been drinking bottled water as the local tap water supplier tastes bad. but when home in KY i drive rhino down to spring on back of farm and get cold fresh water. but there is still a county boy in me that just drinks out of the water hose too.
-
Occasionally, I will buy bottled water and re-use the bottles. Seattle's water supply is collected from Cascade Mountain snow melt. The watershed is in a fenced off area in the National Forest. So it is quite pure. At work the tap water tastes bad because of the pipes in the building. So we have Crystal Springs water in that fits in the dispenser shipped in. I refill my bottle that way.
-
i know this is gonna open myself up but owell.
if you have ever seen the water in La, you would drink beer instead. at least it is purified in the brewing process
-
We have filter on our refrigerator, so I guess it's tap water. Interesting topic for today.... Anyone see the reports of the drugs that were found in tap water across the US? I know the amounts are very little, but WTF?

Yeah I swa the reports......... probably why girls are going into puberty at 10 and 11 years old..........
-
Tap water that is run through the filter in my fridge. If I do buy bottled water, I buy Crystal Geyser since it uses the water I drank growing up.
-
I too will buy bottled water, then refill it with tap water at home, then throw it in the fridge. Bottled water of choice would be Poland Springs...most commonly found on the east coast, but I have been fortunate enough to have a store in town that carries it. O0
-
I dont spend the money on bottled water. Who is to say that it isnt jsut fresh from a tap? The bottled water manufacturers arent regulated. What gets me is back when my grandparents were little...they would drink water from the rain puddles if needed....heck they all survived to be ripe old ages of 90-95. But now that we have our heads screwed on right ....we have all these "Healthy" things to intoxicate our bodies with...and live to be 70....if that. Doesnt sound right does it? I will just stick with the tap water.
Timmayy!
-
I'm with TimmJ, why spend for it if you don't have to...Although I travel a lot for work and bottled water comes in handy on the road..
-
Mojim thats why you do what everyone else does.....keep a bottle and fill er up evertime. I have several in the fridge now....sometimes they are empty pepsi bottles....i just like refridgerator cold water..instead of cold tap water.

Warhawk, does your water have the rotten egg smell? We have a office in J'ville that smells awful, and one of the guys told me alot of Florida water systems have that smell. ???
Anyway, for the question, I recently rebuilt my Kitchen and have a filter on every thing in there. So I drink it from the tap. I will say I bought the line filters that remove parasites as well. I have a friend that knows somebody, so the system itself was really cheap after the scratch and dent reduction ::)
-
Filtered or bottled, baby !!!
I remember as a kid drinking tap water.....but it sorta gives me the jeebie heebies now.

The water in our town is terrible and our water dept is corrupt, having been caught manipulating water reports years ago. Supposedly they're extra careful now because of the scandal, but I still don't trust them.
Back in the 60's a company was dumping solvents (from manufacturing co's all around the country) into an unlined lagoon and it polluted town wells ... then the big cover-up. They finally shut down the company around 1990 but the cleanup will go on for years.
So, we get Poland Springs water (from Maine) delivered to our doorstep ....

That sounds like the bottled water companies doing a little funding of an "AP" investigation to combat all of the positive press that tap water is getting.
Even if it is a legitimate investigation, water contains many natural minerals which are also the base products for many pharmaceutical products, so it doesn't shock me that some traces of various pharmaceuticals show up.
Before I get too worried about it, I'd like the investigation to move further into how these drugs actually got into the water.

TAP.
Evian tastes gross to me, like some French guy took a dump in it.... I chuckle when I see someone insists on drinking it or Fiji Artesian water.

i have a couple of these bad boys around the house. you can put anything in them. hot cold flavored, whatever. they don't absorb flavors and are bombproof.

Tap only. Why help pay the billion dollar corporations to brainwash society?
Bottled water is bad for the environment. How much oil is used to produce all those plastic bottles. Where are they going to bury all those billions of bottles that will not degrade for thousands of years. How much fuel is used to transport those bottles? Almost every municipal water supple is perfectly safe, despite the "scandal" in the news. Don't buy into the hype.
-

Bottled water from one of those so-called springs could be coming from a place far worse than just the tap. Perhaps even a garbage dump.
I play it safe and put the tap water into one of those filtered pitchers....i.e. Brita. At least it gets rid of impurities such as chlorine, lead, copper, mercury, and micro-organisms including giardia.
I know this is going off the topic, but I have friends that pass the cheapest handle of vodka through a Brita filter four times. They say after filtration
they can no longer distinguish it from the top-shelf stuff.

Mixed, bottled Spring Water, from Kentwood for drinking, making coffee, etc. Disani, and filtered tap sold in bottles isn't for me, just bottled actual spring water. Generally, tap for cooking, and of course, bathing. We've got a great water purification plant for New Orleans, but considering all the literal crap and other additives from our neighbors to the North let loose into the River :( :( :Xo! :Xo! >:( >:(, the purified Mississippi River water still makes me nervous.

You can definitely blame Chicago for that. Cook, Lake and DuPage counties pump out trillions of gallons of water per day to the suburbs but it is NOT returned to the Lake Michigan watershed, but instead dumped into tributaries of the Mississippi. As a result, Lake Michigan as a whole, has dropped 18 vertical inches in the last few years. (Ok, off my soap box)

The ground water in sw florida is pretty nasty... strong sulfer smell, and a bad taste... We have a reverse-osmosis system for the house, and a 500 gal water holding tank... I hate watering the lawn cuz of the smell
Ice

I think a few drugs in water is ok, helps everyone mellow out a bit!

I think it's most likely in the bottled water as well, since they've said that there is no practical way to remove it.

The natural spring that I am talking about actually comes out of this rock along side a country road just outside of town. It is tested twice ayear and never have they had any bad reports come back on it. People go there all the time to get water. It especially great in the summer because ifyou are out driving around in the country and you come upon it...always have a cup handy because oohhhh its so cold. I feel confident that it is safe.

definately tap water. Why pay for what you can get free?! :/O

i'd like to say i only drink tap water, but if it's cheap i've been known to buy some bottled water. i'm not a fan tho-- i think it's a bit of a scam. what's so bad with regular water, especially since we have some of the cleanest water in the world here in usa.
i grab sips from water fountains like it's my job. i have some compulsive waterfountain drinking disorder where i'll stop everything i'm doing (late to class, talking to friends, etc) just to stop and take a sip.
oh! fun fact: you know how amusement parks always rip you on the food/drink prices (i'm talking $3+ for a bottled water)? you can ask for ice water (tap) completely free and fill up as much as you like! i never spend a dime on drinks at a themepark, just a fortune on the tickets @c3

Well, I walked right into that one....
I'm just a tap water snob :*))

Somehow big business has confinced consumers that bottled water is better for them. I wish I could see at least one unbiased study that supports this. Anyone know of one? I have seen many that support just the opposite.
-
In Australia, in 1998, Sydneys biggest drinking water resevoir, The Warragamba Dam,located 50 miles due west of downtown was contaimenated with the microscopic pathogens cryptosporidium and giardia. These bugs can give you mean diarreah, stomach pains and make you very sick.
People were instructed that if they drank tap water to boil it. However the fallout from this event means you will not find very many people in Sydney that are game to drink the tap water. Most people have a drinking water delivery service or a purification filter.
I drink bottled water myself. Snowy Mountains Organic Spring Water.
-
Gotta drink bottled or at least filtered water here, especially when the local reservoir turns over!
-
Bottled...Poland Spring.
-
after living in FL for so many years I drink bottled water because of the sulfer water down there, it horrible the smell, the taste, its just nasty
-
I drink tap water that I filter.....through coffee grounds!
I actually do drink tap water but we have a well that we have tested once a year. The state of Wisconsin will send out a test kit and for about $25 test it for everything.

The woman in the photo is Lucrecia Dasani, the heiress of the Dasani family fortune. I googled her (don't I wish) and the word on the web is that the water in the bottles is actually her bath water.
Okay, okay I made it up.....all of it. I can't tell you how ashamed I am right now. I think I'll have a Dasani. Man, that's water!

Yep..since then I have only ever had bottled water - we do try and buy big 10ltr jugs tho.
Tap water here tastes like total shite! AND I'm sorry Jdoggy but when I was in Ohio at the in laws house the water even smelt bad! I didn't even brush my teeth with tap water.
However, we are heavy on re-cycling in our house hold.

We have an amusement park nearby and it is really a class park...but they never charge for soft drinks or water. You pay I think $30 to get in and all the drinks are free. And the food selection is good also. Well Food...whoaaa stop me there because that is a whole other thread...i could go on and on...but check it out ..its called Holiday World in Santa Claus Indiana..
