This may sound very stupid and petty but it bugs me..
Today in central Arkansas we got about 4 inches of nice wet snow today. Everyone seemed to be outside enjoying the weather and snow. My lady friend and I built a 7ft giant snowman in my front yard. I was actually proud of it and some of the neighbor hood kids helped. The little girl across the street built a nice one in her yard too.
I look out side about 30 mins ago and mine was knocked down and stomped on and so was the little girl's across the street. That really chaps my ass. Why would someone feel the need to do something that malicious?? :Xo!

nick..that is not stupid or petty. i hate when something like that happens. last CHRISTMAS... this old lady had a beautiful nativity scene (in her front yard) with lights & everything & some loser stole the pieces. then a very generous anonymous (sp?) person donated a nativity scene 2 the old lady & guess what happened that night...that's right some loser stole it that same night. :Xo!

It seems as if kids are getting worse and worse every year. I see some kids now, and think, "God, I hope I wasn't that bad when I was that age". Times sure are changing. I remember as kids, if we messed up, we got our a$$ whooped with a belt, a spatula, a switch, a plastic hangar, or just dad's hand coming down. Nowadays, you crack a kid's backside, and they run to the phone calling DCFS or something. I wish they knew what it was like to not be able to sit on your butt for an hour or better after sassin' mom or shooting old lady Defenbaugh's cat with a BB gun.

I have no idea why that would happen...goes along the same lines as punks trashing jack-o-lanterns on halloween, trashing christmas decorations on the lawn, and various acts of vandalism.

I don't get it either. I shake my head almost daily. Kids are out of control these days; so many of them have contracted a severe case of the 'It's All About Me' disease. Stealing, cheating, lying, and disrespecting people -- it's all about getting what you want and not working for it or caring about who you hurt or what you do to get it. There is a severe lack of morals and decency among many (not all) kids today -- IMO a lot of these problems can be traced to parents acting like kids, political correctness gone crazy, adults from all walks of life caring more about kids' feelings rather than teaching them about hard work, right and wrong, winning and losing, and accountability. My parents would have had no problem with another adult correcting me if I got out of line (never in my case :@`). Nowadays, many parents think their kids can do no wrong and would be doing anything they could to take out 'revenge' on whoever dared question their little angel's behavior. Many kids are extremely disillusioned when they get out into the real world and discover that they are not the center of the universe.
I hope I didn't just open a can of worms; blame Nick for starting this thread.

Wow! That's a real drag Nick. Totally understand your frustration. It's just a spiteful & petty act by a spiteful & petty person I guess. I assume (if we're being charitable) that such acts of wanton distruction come from feelings of disefranchisment but i don't really think that's any kind of excuse (or even valid) ... just a sad reflection on the state of the world today perhaps, I dunno?
Anyway, hope it doen't bring you down too much ... probably best to just go back out & build it back up again ... don't let them get to you ... not easy sometimes, I know. :x!

It really is a sad commentary on our society today. I would think it was probably some kids who were bored and don't know what to do with themselves outside.
When we were kids we played outside all the time, every damn day, we couldn't get enough. I don't want to go on a tangent here, but we went from morning til night. Riding our bikes, baseball (sandlot), wiffleball, football; especially fun in the snow, lol.
We would race our own built go carts made from big wheels, scooters and other various parts we could find, down the block and crash up, in the street no less!. :o
In general we would just always be out, chillin' with music (not an ipod in our own little world, but all together!), bs'ing on somebody's front stoop, hanging out at the corner deli, park, etc. We didn't want to be inside at all.
I also agree with Stu on the parents being able to keep us in line. If someone else's parent had to correct us or give a warning it was fine. People on the block helped keep the kids in line. And the thing is, we all felt safe. We could be out all day and it wasn't a problem. They had to call us in to eat cause all we wanted to do was play and be with our friends.
Anyway, I'm rambling guys, enough for now on this subject.

i am choosing to stay away from this one cause i would probably pisss someone off if i started ranting. but if anyone is interested you can pm me and i would love to share my feelings. btw, it agrees with you guys but i am really really po'ed about some crap at home.

I think kids that are raised in a nerf (overprotective) world tend to long for the things they are being protected from. Kids spend more time isolated with Computers, Video Games, iPods and TV and this seems to rob them of the social skills most other generations learned at the park and in the playground.
That paired with the amount of violent content involved in these media forms is a dangerous cocktail.
I dont believe many kids today have a firm grasp on reality as most of what they are involved in just isn't.
So when they tear up a bus stop, burn down a field or vandalize a home, they dont really think of a "real" person dealing with the aftermath...
