OK guys. I'm a pretty avid reader and I'm looking for some good books to read. Topic doen't really matter.
Tonight i'm going to start a book I've had a ound for a few years but have never had the chance to read.
It's called, " When Only the Ball was White". It's a historical look at the old Negro Baseball Leagues. I'm a baseball & history junkie so I'm really looking forward to this book.

one of my favorites was "THE MONKEYWRENCH GANG" by EDWARD ABBEY
-
I like Hunter S Thompson's books, I read "The Rum Diaries" while on vacation in Hawaii and it was a great setting to read that book in.
I am a big Bukowski fan as well, Ham on Rye and Post Office were great.
Sonny Bargers book was pretty cool...

Dick and Jane.......LOL

I like reading motivational, positive thinking & sales type books. Just purchased 3 more from Amazon.
There's a lot of sh** that can wear ya down, plus I love the motivation I get....particularly in applying it to building my business.
Since I can't decide on which one to read first, I read like 14 books at the same time. 12-minute snippets from each book amounts to about 3 hrs of reading. Some nights I'll read from all of'm for the full 3 hours. But I usually read through an hour's worth....maybe 90 minutes worth.
Right now I'm reading ALL of the following:
Chosen for Blessing, by H. Norman Wright
The Power of Positive Thinking, by Norman Vincent Peale
The Sales Bible, by Jeffrey Gitomer
Summit Strategies, by Gary P. Scott
The Magic of Believing, by Claude M. Bristol
TNT: The Power Within You, by Claude M. Bristol
Positive Imaging, by Norman Vincent Peale
The Tough Minded Optimist, by Norman Vincent Peale
The Greatest Salesman in the World, by Og Mandino
Love is the Killer App!, by Tim Sanders
The Little Red Book of Selling, by Jeffrey Gitomer
The Little Black Book of Connections, by Jeffrey Gitomer
The New Life Insurance Investment Advisor, by Ben G. Baldwin
and--of course--
The Bible, by God

Anything by Bret Easton Ellis or Chuck Palahniuk.
I also enjoy True Crime books.

To my favorite authors belong John Irving, T.C. Boyle, Patricia Highsmith, the french Author Philippe Djian, Matt Ruff, Barbara Vine and and and. Of course Tolkien, The Lord of the rings. Sartre, Camus. Nights are tooooooo short.
I just read the recent book of Isabel Allende, Inés; it's a little boring, not her best.
Awesome I found the 3 books of Eliot Pattison, playing in China and Tibet, Water touching, stone, The skull mantra, - I don't know the English title of the third book - the lost son of Tibet in German - , for I lent it to our son.
I like the french crime author Fred Vargas very much - translated in English?

Lord of the World by Hugh Benson
Circle Trilogy by Ted Deckker

As a history teachers I have always had a passion for John Michner's books. The research and detail he puts into each makes you feel you really know the subject.
Tops for me was his "Covenant" about South Africa
"Alaska"
"Chesapeake"
I will also read ANYTHING on Ireland or Irish history. Currently reading two novels that have strong historical research by Cathal Liam, "Consumerd in Freedom's Flame" and the sequel, "Blood on the Shamrock"

Rob-
About 20 years ago at one of the darkest times in my life, a friend handed me a copy of "The Power of Positive Thinking". It literally changed my life. It's a great read.

Try Rutherford's "Sarum". Very James Michener.
