Hi Brothers, none of us are getting any younger and I got to admit I have a few grey hairs in my beloved Goatee. I have tried to reassure my fans thats its not grey but a few stray blond hairs but for some reason they dont believe me lol.
So Can anyone recommend a good beard dye? I would love to hear from fellow UK brothers as the products that you get in the US are called something else over here!
Does anyone else on SBG dye there beard/hair etc, bet your woud,nt tell me anyway lol
All the best, Jim
-
Oi Jim, just shave the bloody goatee off and go the Mr.Clean route.
-
Mine is naturally black, with some red and white. I use peroxide on it to lighten it up uniformally.

Jim,
I know just what you're talking about, since I have more than a few flecks of grey hairs in my goat.
You have two options.
1] Use a brush in color gel. There are two readily available products on the market. Just For Men and Grecian 5. When I first saw my stray greys I tried both. For what it's worth both products do a decent camouflage of the greys. Just be careful when selecting a color. You want a shade lighter than your natural color. And don't leave the product on longer than the 5 minutes.
2] You can leave it natural and continue telling everyone that the grey is actually blonde strays. That's what I'm currently doing.
Medic aka Rocko recommends using peroxide. Do Not try that Jim.
It only makes the greys white, and they will stand out even more.
Cheers, Tyro

I'd shave it. But then again, a goatee doesn't quite fill out on the Schrodome (looks rather sparse).
-
I shaved mine off....it was getting too grey...and made it looks splotchy
-
I've got quite a few gray bastards in my goat.
Might try the JFM and Grecian just for the hale of it.
Thanks for the info, Tyro

I didnt' mean for my comment to stand as a recommendation, I was just stating that was my procedure. I guess it all depends on what color you want your beard or goatee to be. I like mine a lighter color (than black), so by making everything lighter the gray or white don't stand out as much. Actually I wish mine was all white.

that's what i'll do! O0

I embrace mine!
But my partner uses JFM. It looks ok if you only use it sparingly. If you leave it on too long, it makes your face-fur look like it was painted on.
-
I'm keeping mine.

Like BootedBear, I am embracing my grey. I used to use "Just For Men". But when the eyebrows started going grey, I decided to give up the battle. But I really don't like the Mr Clean look on me that well. I did it once, but I at least like to sport a mustache. But I think dark facial hair and grey eyebrows would look weird. I have seen the other way around however.
-
I use the just for men and have no problems. For my routine I trim my down and then use the JFM once a week. As it grows you can't see the gray until its trim time again. 8)

I'm with bootedbear. Embrace it.

I dont think the Opinionated Walrus would be The Opinionated Walrus without his massive grey salt and pepper goat.
Welcome back Lance!!Long time no see buddy.

I'm with booted bear and Lance, I embrace it. Mine is getting pretty grey now, and I have more dark brown in the stache' and in the center. It looks kinda cool, and I am thinking it would look better all white, like Medic/Rocko says.
I am from the school of leave it alone and just be natural. I always said no rugs, plugs or drugs, and I feel the same with dyeing. I would rather keep it as I really look.
I have seen some guys with it, and they're not fooling anyone. :/O

I've got lots of grey... hell, I earned it so I'm keeping it! :*))

Thanks Brothers for your help and your comments the Grecian product sounds good, will check that out later at my local store. Or I could just swallow my pride and leave it after all I keep reading that Girls find the 'more mature' man a turn on, right ?
Funny when you read article's like that, they always seem to be written by 'mature men' with grey in there Goatee's lol
-
Mine has turned almost white except for a dark streak down the center, I only have chin hair, and I LOVE IT. Can't wait for it all the turn white.

I keep my goatee pretty short. It is light gray but I have seen pics of a couple of guys on the HeadBlade site that have stark white goatees and they look sharp! I'm gonna try the peroxide myself, make it stand out a bit.

Go for it, buddha. If white is what you're aiming for, that's exactly what you're gonna get! The peroxide does its a very good job on the grey and will bleach them stark white.

Well; you can see what i've done with mine ... nothing. I can live with the grey. So I'd say, either embrace it; or shave it (Mr. Clean would look good on you. I shave off the beard / goatee every so often for variety . Then again; if you really want the colour ; try to 'just for men' or Grecian Formula. Hope they're available in UK

You rock the gray goat well John. The peppered look is cool in my opinion. O0

Dye it the colors (at least that's how I spell it) of the Union Jack.

You'll need to use this much safer product, instead of the Just For Men.

Schroman, are you testy because you can't grow a goat ?! , lol. ;D ;)
-
not testy at all. Actually, I'm in a very good mood.
I just find it interesting ..................ah nevermind.

I think all of you rockin' the gray goats are looking sly as can be. No matter how it's spelled.

Tyro, is this something you've tried? I am intrigued. I'd love to get the lighter parts a bit whiter (while leaving the darker patches).

I can only speak from my experience. I tested Medics peroxide theory. The greys in my goatee turned white as the driven snow. And the darker hairs,
the browns, turned yellow with a tinge of green. :Xo!

Yikes!

Just for men works great. Match the color on the box and do not leave it on for more than five minutes. Every 5-7 days you need to repeat the process. After a while no one knows.
