ok pet's aside (no dogs/cats/hamsters) what are you favorite animals? you know you might have a soft spot for some insane earthly creation such as the rhino or the platypus.. now's the time to present your favorite animal!! (if this has been done i'm so sorry)
anyways for some unknown, unfathomable reason i love the three toed sloth... it boggles my mind and it's sooo precious. the damn thing always looks so happy!

Good post Dino.
My favorite animal of all time would probably be the Bear. Particulary the Kodiak bear. The are an ultimate predator and unique animal. I'm always in amazement when I see them on nature documentarys, how they own their territory and have no natural predators in the wild.(human excluded although a bear will easily eat a man if he didnt need a large calibre gun).
Their existence is another great example of the true un-harnessable (sp?) power of nature.

I love giraffes.......... but there is a story of course.
I never really thought much about giraffes in my life. Then when my son was 8 months old he started having 20 seizures a day. It was a very traumatic time for my family. One day I was very depressed and went for a drive just to be alone and think about things. Somehow I wound up in a specialty store with all types of odds and ends including some stuffed animals. As I looked at this table of neatly arranged stuffed animals this stuffed giraffe got my attention..... I don't know why. I bought it (and paid way too much) and took it home.
When i walked in with it my son, Kody, went absulutely crazy over it. He rolled all over the floor with it that evening, cooing and giggling the whole time. Man did my wife and i laugh. It was the first time in months that we had really, truly laughed.
My wife said, "We have to give him (the giraffe) a name..... he looks like a Duncan to me". So the giraffe became Duncan. Kody will be eleven years old in a few days, so that was over ten years ago. Over the years and many trips with Kody to hospitals, specialists and thru countless tests, Duncan was with us. Kody slept with Duncan every night until recently. Duncan has needed a few repairs thru the years from good old wear and tear but he is still with us.
A few months back i sat Kody down and said," Kodeman, Duncan is getting old and if we don't put him away you won't have him for your little boy one day". We both held Duncan and wept and then placed him on a shelf over Kody's bed where he still watches over my little man every night.
Cheers to you Duncan.
Wow..... what a great memory.... in an animal thread..... it's going to be a Great day...

I'm still a "man's best friend" kinda guy. I love dogs. I had a beagle that I got when I was only 3 and he finally passed away when I was 21. He should have been put down before that but nobody in my family had the heart to do it.
My kids have been wanting a dog and I haven't yet broken down and got one for them. One of my clients is the local animal shelter. I'm supposed to be working with them in a couple of weeks. I'm gonna have to check out the puppies.

Wow Mike, what an awesome story. Always like giraffes before, but now even more so. I am a fan of the big cats too, particularly tigers.

Favorite animals in the House of Schro include
Chimpanzees (they crack me up to no end).
Penguins (the Lovely Mrs. Schro has a small penguin statue collection)
Seals
-
I like reptiles such as turtles, alligators and frogs.
But I like them cooked rather than alive. They're a very tasty alternative to chicken. :@`

that badger is one BAD MA'AMA JAMMA.
