It's been interesting to read about the progression of some of our new members along the road to slyness. Lately most seem to be taking the journey in stages. I'm curious to know how long it took you to make the leap from zero-guard buzz to slick bald. It took me about ten minutes. I did the zero-guard buzz and didn't have any intention of taking the rest off, but when it was done I was soooo close and I just couldn't resist.

Well I wore a zero guard for a while before I shaved. This site inspired me though!! I lurked for about a week then decided to take it all the way off
-
From O guard until slick bald took about 1 week.
-
Well, not actually very long. I had been wearing a #4 on top with the sides shaved pretty close. Somewhere between a #1 an #1/2. I did this for 2 - 3 years. Once I started visiting the forum, I started taking the top down to a shorter length. Somewhere between a #1 and a #2. I did this over about a 2 week period. Then I couldn't take it any longer and came home from work on a Thursday night and went up to the bathroom and took it all off. And the rest is history....

That's exactly how I was, except the time frame was much more compressed. I'd been going shorter and shorter with the buzz cuts for about two years. I got down the zero and after a few minutes I just said, f**k it and gave in to the urge to finish the job.

I'd been wearing mine buzzed real short for the last seven years..... so it took me about two seconds to make the decision once I realized that I wanted to do it......

I was wearin mine at number 0 for about a year before I shaved it slick. Got fed up of buzzin it to '0' and just thought what the hell and shaved it. Took about ten seconds to actually take the final plunge! 8)

From zero guard to sly took me about 3 minutes! O0
-
I buzzed for 10 years, but it took me a week (and some encouragement from you guys--thanks!) to go from zero to sly.
-
My "Buzz Time" was short, just over a month, and once I got to 1/8", it was three or four days to zero, at about 5 :30a on the way to the gym, and once back, breakfasted & coffeed, I showered and applied the blade about 9a, the feeling of freedom was overwhelming. Got dressed, and went and did my errands. Then when the wife got home in the evening--I had the day off--it began the "What have you done, it looks awful!" routine. She's quiet but not happy now--last weekend was, "It's too shiny!" Well, maybe that's an improvement. Since that day, I've kept it smooth, clean and shiny--sometimes buffing up w/ my t-shirt before puting on the shirt & tie! Loving it smooth.

About 1 year from no guard to Sly. Before that, it was a steady decline of numbers #3, #2, #1...the numbers reduced as my hair did.

I always kept my hair pretty short. I had a little bit more than a buzz cut going on when a friend convinced me to go sly. We used the shears and took off what hair I had, down to stubble. I sat for a few minutes, psyched myself up, and said lets do it! This was back in late 2002/early 2003, and I have been sly ever since.
-
Technically, it was about 12 days from no guard to sly.
For 2 years, I kept gettting shorter and shorter butches, then buzzes, then skinned sides and back high and tights. Once my barber peeled it down with the #000 all over and I lost the carved out flat deck on top, it took one more trip to the barbershop and about 20 minutes after I got home, I finally took the advice handed to me by the bros here.
Lathered up and put the Mach III to work and washed my worries down the sink.

0 to sly took me about 2 years. What was I thinking? I should have gone slick immediately. Why did I hang on to the hair. Oh, the waisted years! :'(

From a 0 buzz to totally smooth took me just about three weeks. I had been gradually going lower and lower for some time. I had always said if I keep losing it, it's all coming off. I knew which direction I was going. Once I had the 0a buzz, I knew it was just a matter of time, and my buds here helped me finally take that leap. O0

Me too!

I'm another one. Never was going to wear the hairy toilet seat.

About 45 minutes.
Prior to going sly on 1-1-07, I wore it at a #1 setting for all of Dec. 2006. On New Year's Day 2007, I buzzed it at #0, went for a 4 mile run, then took the HeadBlade for its maiden voyage.
-
I did the #0 fro about 8 months, give or take a month. It was a weird situation when I decided to go for it I had seen the HB a couple of years ago in the back of playboy, and thought that was a graeat idea, but never could find one. I was in Jacksonville FL for work and was shopping and I came across one and I had to get it, but I still wasn't sure when I would actully do it. The HB sat on my desk for a week. I thought I needed a fresh buzz so I gave myself the 0. When I was done I turned and seen the HB and I thought WTF and I went to scraping it down and I'll never look back.
-
I went from"0" to HERO in about 3 min.
-
I went from the no. 2 to a bic in exactly a week. I originally asked the barber to take it all off, but he thought I should have some hair on my head (?). I had no way to maintain it other than taking a disposable razor to it, so that's what happened. I like it better this way.
-
It took me like a month and a half to go from the 2...then the 1...then razor time.
and i never went back!
I just love it.
