I went to the doctor today to get a physical and the doctor's assistant weighs me and then measure's my height. I then cracked a joke that I didn't get that extra half inch because I don't have any hair. She laughs and the proceeds to tell me that I'm lucky because I have a good shaped head and that not all guys look good with a shaved head. I tried to assure her that I have yet to see a dude that didn't look good with a shaved head but she kept arguing and saying that I was wrong. I think I visually started getting angry :Xo! because I could tell that she tried to change the subject. So, then I had to bust out the fact that I run a website with several hundred men with shaved heads and I cannot remember seeing a guy that looked bad with a shaved head. She decided not to respond to that and then proceeded to take my blood pressure. Well, it was a little higher than normal...I wonder why? About 10 min later the doc said that she wanted to take my BP again because it seemed a little high. It had dropped from 130/74 to 124/70...LOL! Think I was pissed?
Anyways, I hate when people say that not all guys look good with a shaved head. Sure, maybe not 100%, but it's pretty damn high, like 99.99% that do.

Technically she's probably correct because there's an exception to every rule. But the guys who don't look good with shaved heads are few and far between indeed.

While hearing people make such comments is aggravating does it really matter in the long run? I mean, being sly is about the confidence and freedom it gives YOU not someone else. Many of us have faced negative comments from family and friends after going sly but maintain that lifestyle anyway. We feel that we look better and that is all that matters.

I'm going to side with the nurse only because she probably has a hair fettish and can't accept bald as attractive.
I've updated my Match.com photo to reflect my sly look. I expect there will be women who say to themselves "I can't do bald".

My uncle tried shaving his head a few years back and honestly, he didn't look that great. His head was knotty looking and not smooth at all.

The "Shavee" and his view is paramount, as Paul points out. But objectively, I can't think of any guy w/ MPB whose appearance isn't improved w/ the Sly look. I mean he might not be "handsome" as the popular "good looking" movie star to begin w/, but he's going to look neater, cleaner and generally more attractive Sly than w/ a dying or dead mop. Even those w/ the "meat head" problem--bumpy ridges all over the scalp, look better if the "meat head" issue is apparent w/ the remnants of the mop. But if HE feels better and self-satisfied Sly, then for him that's the only way.

In my years of being bald, I've run into more than a few people with shaved heads that are definitely not suited to shaving... it's been the head shape itself (lopsided, pointy, bumpy, etc).
However, most of the time the opposite is true...

You really cant put "all guys" into any generalization other than "have a penis" or "lack a Vagina".

That comment is usually made towards me, so I take it as a compliment...
meaning it suits me and looks GOOD...other dudes might not be so lucky.....

I dont think it was intentional, after all, no one can tell with that lipstick on.

I can think of one man I have ever seen who had a slick bald head that didnt suit him. He was a Japanese guy that I used to work with, Takaya was his name. Very cool dude but the back of his head was as flat as a piece of drywall. Unfortunatley he didnt pull off the look too well however his attitude reflected how he felt and the ladies always flocked to him even though his English skills were questionable.

Dude Ive seen a couple guys that look weird with a sly head.
I was stationed with this one dude who shaved his head to skin with no warning. He had the pointiest head and his ears stuck out. He looked like Sloth from the Goonies!!

I agree that not all guys do or would look good with a shaved head. However, maybe it's just something that would have to grow on ya.

Generally, any bald look that wasn't working right could be fixed with some facial hair or clothing adjustments. It's all in how you accent it.

Blondeguy, I'm afraid you are mistaken... bald doesn't work for everybody. Some people spent WAYYYYYY too much time in the 'ol birth canal, and unfortunately, when a baby's head is cone shaped, unless it is fix early, it stays cone shaped. I bet the Japanese guy mentioned had a flat head from layin on a flat surface too long as a baby lol

I've seen only two or three guys with the bald look when it dont suit them but 100's more where it looks cool and attractive. Most guys heads seem to suit the sly look as far as I can see. 8)

In all honesty, if a dude is ugly with hair, he'll likely be ugly without hair.
I've seen pics of a few guys on SBG before they shaved their heads (some have MPB and others are BBC), and without exception, they ALL look better sly.
Bear in mind, I like the sly look on me, though I'm indifferent as to whether or not it improves my appearance.

Ever since I shaved my head back in July of last year I play this little game with the wife. If i see a SLY guy in public or on TV, i'll look at her and say, "That guy just wouldn't look right with hair.... would he?". And EVERY single time she has said, "No, he wouldn't".
We were in a restaurant yesterday and a SLY guy walked past us on the way to his table and before I said a word the lovely Mrs. Koz looked at me and said, " no he wouldn't". I busted out laughing.

The woman has a point. Not every1 looks good with a sly look. I've seen lots of guys where the slybald doesnt suit them really. But look at Skinner from the X-files, his halfbald hairstyle just looks great on him, couldnt see him with a sly dome really.
I feel lucky that it suits me, i've never had any problems with mty hairloss, neither do the girls (most of em) O0.
I think it just all depends on your headshape and confidence, Mother Nature doesnt care if you get hairloss or go bald cause in the end it doesnt really matter. In the end its all about your character.

I agree with the Nurse, however, the guys she is talking about aren't very common. I have gotten quite a few comments lately from my friends telling me that i'm more "pretty with hair" (their words not mine). I personally like the sly look on me. I know my mother doesn't but thats another thing all together.

It's true that not all guys look good with a shaved head. It's equally true that not all guys look good with hair, yet we seldom hear people saying anything about that.
I saw a guy in the men's room at work today trying to do God knows what with his Rastafarian braids. Whatever he wanted them to do, they weren't cooperating. I wanted so badly to see what he was doing with them, but didn't want to get caught staring at another guy in a public restroom, so I just left, resisting the urge to tell him to just shave off the whole mess. I don't understand how any grown man could stand to deal with a high-maintenance 'do like that.

Funny how people suddenly become very opinionated when they see a shaved dome, and delight in saying 'it don't suit everyone' etc, yet in normal situations how often do you hear people tellin each other their hair doesnt suit them? hardly ever. I had a few (usually older women) tellin me my bald dome didnt suit me when I first went sly (they have now given up on it!). They were women with dyed hair, perms, styles of various sorts, not allof which suited them, but I'm too much of a gentleman to tell them what I think, and anyway I don't feel its anyone's business to pass comment.
You never hear people saying 'His hair doesnt suit him' (except on SBG's!!) 8) ;)

Hey guys this is how I would look from both sides. Does it suit me? I have been told that good head shapes should not have any protrusions or undulance or any angular features. There should be perfect roundness from the top to the occipital bone. Also that for aesthetic reasons it needs symmetry.

I think it is more a question of how you feel with a shaved head. It's a state of mind actually.
