Hey all, just in anticipation of tomorrow being Friday, thought I would find out the answer to the inevitable question;
"Whats yer poison?"
Personally, mine is beer... Stella Artois or Becks to be exact. I used to really be into the microbrew thing but in the past few years I have switched to the lighter side of brews.
Now if you don't drink alcohol feel free to post up your favorite non-alcoholic beverage of choice as well...
I will start that one too... Diet 7up and Cran-rasberry juice.
If you drink Zima or winecoolers and you were born a male... just lie and say whiskey.
-
Beer - mostly Downtown Brown or Guiness
-
H2O
-
Diet Pepsi and green tea. (not mixed)
-
Alcohol has never touched my lips.
-

Oh, well so much for this bottle of Kettle One I was gonna send you....
-
Alcohol has never touched my lips.
You go to hell for liein' just the same as you do for stealin' Schro
-

You're going straight to hell for that blatent lie!!!
-
Shiner Bock, Budweiser, sometimes Heineken, Whiskey and Jager Bombs
-
Captain and coke... or captain and sprite... or captain and ginger ale... or captain and OJ... or just captain!
-
Beer. Sol (shits over Corona IMHO)
-
...Jager Bombs
Blech! Too many bad "episodes" drinking jager bombs!!
For a change of pace if you like "bomb" type drinks:
Ink Drop - Captain Morgan Tattoo and Red Bull
Cherry Bomb - Either Cherry UV vodka or Dr Macgilacudy's Cherry schnapps and Red Bull
O Bomb - Bacardi O and Red Bull

-
Beer - The darker the better or draught cider
-
Jack Daniels...either straight-up in a shot glass or in a rock glass with an ice cube...or right outta the bottle.

My alcoholic uncle used to do a Animal House stunt where he would fill a regular size drinking glass with Jack and chug it. It was disturbing to watch
-
Guinness and I love good tequila........
-

Cocktails...a good old (very old man drink) Rum and coke...
and Nick912, I prefer it with diet coke too! O0

Gawd you've aged me, that used to be called a Cuba Libre! My preference is Dewar's on the rocks, or if I'm flush, The Glenlivet, neat. Martini - the real kind w/ gin--Citronnelle if it's available, otherwise Shaphire, dry on the rocks, w/ a twist, no olive. Beer--got to go with the home teams, Dixie Voodoo, or Abita Turbo Dog, Amber if on tap.
-
abita amber and shots of patron (silver)
-
gotta luv an ice cold brew....my brew of choice is heineken, grolsch, sam adams, yueling, killian's red, corona light O0
WARHAWK O0
-
Water. We may have a glass of wine about once a year.
-
BEER! usually just keep some Michelob in the fridge. I love Guiness, but don't drink it that often $$$$
Ice cold vodka is my favortie liquor. I always have a bottle of vodka in the freezer. Yummy.
Liquor is like steak - if it needs anything on/in it, it ain't worth having.
Besides that I drink a lot of water and Diet coke.
-
Czech beer - my favorite is Staropramen!
J
-
Beer, mostly Carlsberg, and when im really drunk rum and coke O0
-
Ink Drop - Captain Morgan Tattoo and Red Bull
My drink of choice is Crown and gingerale.
I do like a good Ink Drop every now and then as well, has a nice rush to it! O0
-
MGD or a couple shots of hypnotic in a mountain dew or shmirnov Ice. Not much of a drinker now though. Back in the day I prefered the bong over the suds anyway.
-
........... Back in the day I prefered the bong over the suds anyway..........
;) ;)
-
carlsberg and more beer!!!
and dry martiny too!!!

Ya gotta try either with gingerale.......
-
Strong (6-12%) ales.
Single malt Scotch.
Coqnac.
Gin and tonic.
Good wine.
-
Alexander Keiths is a fine Nova Scotian ale. You can pick it up here in Sydney for about 30 bucks a case(compared to 35-45 for domestic stuff).
As far as Canadian beer goes, I'm a big fan of Rickards Red.
-
My current fave, a "Dark 'N' Stormy'.
>1½ oz Gosling's Black Seal Rum
>top with Barritts Ginger Beer
>garnish w. lime
-

I can handle the "gin" or real martini, but make a Gimlet, i.e. gin and Rose's Lime Juice, and looney is a slight description, once during a summer between law school years, I started on those things and woke up at the Plaza Hotel in New York City!

Always wanted to try Absinthe, the real stuff though, not the make it at home crap. Suppose to produce a weird buzz, different from normal drunkeness.

Dan, this is because true Absinthe contains wormwood which allegedley has some pychedelic properties.
-
Definitely vodka and cranberry juice.

Yeah, it's distilled wormwood extract mixed with melissa and other herbs. Thujone is the active ingredient. Which, what I think is stupid is it's illegal to distribute, but yet fresh sage can have up to 50% of that chemical in it, Stonge absinthe only has I think 12-20%. What I've been told is that the psychedelic properties haven't been proven, but it is a stimulant, so mixed with alcohol the 2 substances clash and produce the "weird feeling". There was a book out awhile ago called "legal highs". All kindas stuff you can get messed up on from the grocery store. Eating or juicing a butt load of parsley is suppose to give you a buzz. Another one is smokin banana peels. I tried that one years ago. Didn't do crap for me though.

You're in luck, it's being made again but it's pricey, $55 a bottle, then you need an Absinthe spoon, and even an Absinthe fountain--it holds ice & water, let the cold water pour over a sugar cube on the spoon and into a glass. I bought a bottle, and received a spoon for Christmas, I'll be trying it soon. I've heard they're selling a lot of it in the French Quarter. Las Touristas are willing to foot the bill, we natives are too cheap.
-
Go on The Fine Living Network. They have a series call "The Thirsty Traveler". The host travels the world and samples liquors & beers from around the world. One episode was dedicated to Absinthe. Interesting........
-
don't drink much but I'd say Amaretto Disaronno on the rox (ok, I know it's kinda girly) used to be Gran Ma on the rox but I have mellowed in my old age.

So you can actually buy it locally? (and legally) with out having to order it from over seas? I'd shell out that much if I founds some around here.
-
Just saw in bottle of it the local Liquor store yesterday...... $55. I asked the guy what it tasted like and he said licorice. I'll by some sambuca for $20..... Thank you very much!

Thanks for the info, I'll have to start actively looking for it. Licorice might be one of the herbs used in the distilling process along with the wormwood and melissa. The herbal blend is what's supposed to give it it's greenish hue. It's nickname is the "green fairy" or "green Devil". I've read alot of Huxley's work, I've always wanted to try Peyote once due to the way he described it's effect. Maybe when I'm in the nursing home and have nothing to lose I'll take one last trip.

I have drank Absinthe overseas before and it tastes like doo-doo and I dont think I drank enough of it to "feel" anything. Keep in mind that real Absinthe is really high proof strong alcohol.
