Title: Whats on your: iPod/MP3/CDs/Whatever?
Post by: DeathAdder on January 20, 2008, 12:09:53 AM
I have:
A Bunch of songs from the Alt.Rock Band The Pixies, A Few songs by Guns N' Roses, A few songs by Nena, And a Few by Queen, Also a couple by A Theory Of A Deadman, And a handfull from Cold . And "Hes Not Dead Yet"..
Quote
I am not dead yet
I can dance and I can sing
I am not dead yet
I can do the Highland Fling
I am not dead yet
No need to go to bed
No need to call the doctor
Cause I'm not yet dead.
He is not yet dead
That's what the geezer said
No, he's not yet dead
That man is off his head
He is not yet dead
So put him back in bed
Keep him off the cart because he's not yet dead.
 :x! :x! :x!
Well now he's dead
You whacked him on the head
Sure, now he's dead
It makes me just see red
You are such a brute
To murder that old coot
You homicidal bastard, now he's really dead
Who is the knave who put him in his grave
And who needs to manage his anger?

I mostly have country, electronic, and old school Sinatra type music on the iPod.  I know, weird combo, but it depends on the mood I'm in.

Right there with ya, Tyler. Most notable artists currently on my iPod include Metallica, The Rippingtons (jazz), Kenny Chesney, Nickelback, Terri Hendrix, Jimmy Buffett, Rush, Van Halen, Seal, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Steview Ray Vaughn, and George Winston...just to name a few.

I do a lot of changing out on my portable with my library.  Right now I'm on a bit of a punk kick, so it's a lot of Sex Pistols and Dead Kennedys up to some Dropkick Murphys.  I always keep a good selection of metal on it as well.  Usually Killswitch, Mastodon, Opeth, Motorhead, Metallica, etc.  Most recently I acquired Death is this Communion by High on Fire...excellent album for any metalheads out there.

Okay...before you all go thinking all I listen to is hard stuff, I have a wide selection of other things on there right now including, but not limited to, The Police (Stewart Copeland is a rock drum god, second only to Neil Peart, IMHO) Jimmy Buffett (always in the rotation), Counting Crows, Colin Hay (of Men at Work fame), and so many other I will stop now before I bore everyone to death even more.

DeathAdder...I like what you have listed there...what else are you rocking out to?

Schro and Tyler...Excellent selection as well...except for the country  ;)

I have so much music it is crazy... all different genres.

Currently I have had heavy rotation of the following;

Clutch
Old Crow Medicine Show
Desmond Dekker
The Skatalites
The Beat
Tim Armstrong
Motown
The Heptones
Hank Williams Sr.
Django Rienhardt
Patsy Cline
Matisyahu
G-Love and Special Sauce
Bob Dylan

Yeah, I know it sounds like a lot but I do computer work all day and 80% of the time I am listening to music.

LOL!  Actually, most of the country I listen to is not mainstream country.  It's usually very regional stuff with more of a outlaw edge to it.  For example, check out http://www.railbenders.com.

Also, if you like Buffet, you'll probably like the Zac Brown Band.  http://www.myspace.com/zacbrown or http://www.zacbrownband.com

Tyler...I've heard Zac Brown, good stuff.  I also must admit that I have a bit of a soft spot for certain instruments/styles that a lot of people don't like...all that to lead up to my admission...

<deep breath> I like bluegrass...I really dig roots music!

As far as instruments...banjo (check out Bela Fleck and the Flecktones if you disagree) and bagpipes.

Old Crow Medicine Show (O.C.M.S.) or Big Iron World ... I would lean on Big Iron as it is very a well crafted record but they are all really good. Their older stuff is all pretty much live and has a great Honky Tonk feel.

If you get a chance to see them live I would recommend going.

Wagon Wheel is a cool song!  I'll have to look into getting some of this myself.  Though, this is WAY beyond what my wife would listen to...lol

HAH! Too funny Tyler, that is how my wife was too. She is really an R&B, Motown, Disco fan but after seeing them live, she was into it. She still doesn't really dig the old Hank Sr. and Bill Monroe stuff I listen to but she tolerates it.

Marz, that music is so laid back Southern Cal! Do you have any Julius Welscher & the Baja Marimba Band. I downloaded a lot of their music. TTB's "What Now My Love" and "Going Places" are classics. As for "Whipped Cream & Other Delights", my dad has that album. He admitted to me a few years ago that he bought it not so much for the music, but for the "hot album cover".

I wonder if that's whipped cream or shaving cream??

I think it is shaving cream based on the ability to "hold on" and crush a boys dreams.

I do not have any Julius Welscher & the Baja Marimba Band but I will check them out.

I do however have a lot of Martin Denny and Arthur Lyman 60's exotica music, great stuff.
