Hello there fellow bald guys, haha that sounds funny because i'm only 17 years old. I'll be turning 18 next week.
I really don't know why i wanted to shave my head, but i went online yesterday and found this site full of shiny heads... after reading some stuff here and there i decided to do it before i went out bowling. So i clipped my hair down to #1 then no clipper, took a shower, then proceeded to apply shaving cream and start shaving with a mach 3 razor i think... I shaved with the grain to be safe. but it wasn't a close shave at all, it was very unpleasing to be honest, it felt like sandpaper, after that i applied aftershave gel. Anyways, i went out got 2 good compliments, some were kinda skeptical but i could see it was more like a shock.
This morning, i borrowed my dad's electric razor (is that what they're called?) and proceeded to take the rest of my hair off. now is all smooth and stuff, i like it. the only thing is that i'm getting bump and it's getting irritated and itchy. Hopefully the hand lotion will help (with vitamin E). Any suggestions on this topic?
Also, i didn't know my head was sooo white. and is winter so i don't have a chance to go to the beach, even though i live in Daytona Beach FL. what can i do about the "whiteness"?
Well i think that's all for now, i'm gonna try to upload a picture soon.

David, welcome to Sly Bald Guys! Congrats on soon being deemed an "adult" by turning 18.
In regards to the bumps, they are usually due to irritation caused by too much friction with the razor. Check out the Your Shave Routine topic at http://www.slybaldguys.com/smf/index.php?topic=923.0 to find out what the rest of us do.
As for your white head. Sun will help, but make sure you wear sunscreen, even in the winter. If you're looking for a self tanner, Jergen's Natural Glow is getting some positive reviews in this topic - http://www.slybaldguys.com/smf/index.php?topic=3916.0

Thanks tyler, I will read most of the posts there when I have a little more time. Should the bumps get better over time? as in as more I get used to shaving, the less bumps?
By the way, somehow I feel more confident. Like I don't give a f... about what other people think about me. That's very good in my case since I've always been the good guy, and people take advantage of that.
Anyhow, here are some pics.
Oh and those scars were by my dog BITTING my back in '98. I was 8 yrs old. He was an adult rottweiler. I think it adds to the "BADASS" look haha

Cool that you just got it in your head and then just shaved it all off smooth...very cool and very ballsy! O0

Looks great David.
Glad to see another head with scars... chicks dig scars!
-
David, very bad ass, especially with the Oakley Gascans
As for the bumps, they should go away as you find the best routine that works for you and as your head gets used to the shaving.
-
Welcome, David. Glad you found us. I think you'll love your new look. And if not, it will always grow back. Give yourself some time to learn the best shaving routine. The bumps will go away and you'll be left with an incredibly smooth and SLY noggin.

Welcome bro, is there a story behind the scars?
-
Definitely works for you man! Keep it!
-
Hey David,
Looks good.
I get irritation from electric razors, too. And don't get a good shave with a Mach III.
My personal preference is the HeadBlade Sport with HeadBlade Triple blades. But if you read the routines, you'll see that that doesn't work for everybody.
-
David, welcome to SBG! Don't worry about the scars - they do add to the BADASS look O:O Happy Birthday also! Hoping to see you around the forum! Feel free to ask any questions you might have.
-
looks great. wish i had to confidence to just shave it like you did. im still trying to build up the courage to do it. you put me to shame.
-
Looks good David ... a keeper ... and the scar story is a good opening line!
-
wellcome bro!!!
looks great on you!!!
-
Welcome David, you wear the SLY well
-
Welcome David,
I hope you have tried some different routines by now. This first time you get the whole dome slick you will become addicted to it. I would definately stay away from the electric until your scalp gets use to the whole thing, I am sure thats where alot of the irritation comes from.
Looks good man!
-
Welcome to the brotherhood David!
You are rockin the sly look! O0
as far as your ??? like Ty said just check out some of the other threads here and do alittle experimentaion and you'll be rid of the bumps and getting a good clean scraping in no time.
-
David-
Great look for you.... you wear it well. Kudos to you for going SLY so young and when, like many of us, nature hadn't yet taken the better part of your hair.

Welcome to SBG's David, the sly looks suits you well and looks great with the shades!
It's good to hear you've gotten more confidence too; that's usually one of the first things that happens when one finally scrapes the dome free!.
You've now entered the "sly" dimension. 8)
Keep it smooth , bro.

Welcome, David! Way to go.
I'd echo the advice not to use the electric for a while. I've only been sly a few days. Day one went great, and the second day I decided to try my electric razor...big mistake. That's how I ended up with some bumps and irritation.
I use a Gillette Fusion, which seems to be easy on the head and pretty forgiving in terms of nics. Until you get the hang of it there's a tendency to slide the blade kind of at an angle across your head (at least there has been for me, anyway). Despite that, I haven't cut myself with the Fusion (at least not yet).
I read up on skin care at the library today...one piece of useful advice was "Don't do anything to your face you wouldn't do to a baby's." I'm not suggesting that shaving a baby's head is a good thing, but in terms of your routine, find products that are easy on your skin.
Enjoy your prime-of-life slyness!
