Title: Find the Redneck in ya............
Post by: Timmay on December 29, 2007, 09:51:51 PM
Hey...ya know..we are all human ..correct?  Well most of you are....still questionable about myself...but anyways......we all have a little ...just a teeny weeny bit of Redneck in us....so what one thing was the most "redneck" that you have ever done?

I will have to say the biggest redneck thing I have ever done was prolly when we tied a plastic swimming pool to the back of a 4x4 and went sleding on teh country roads.....or the time we lined the back of the pick up wiht plastic, filled it full of water and drove around town, or when i tied battery powered christmas lights to my wifes van and put one of the big green christmas wreaths on teh front...or the time when I thought we could fit a whole bedroom suit into the back of my ford ranger and had a load on the back that stood about three times as high as my truck...mattress and all...and had to drive over 70 miles to get home with it....

...............oh crap...i think i am more redneck than i Thought...lol.....

We used to kill our own Thanksgiving turkey.  My dad's friend owned a little turkey farm, but didn't have the heart to kill the turkeys.  He'd take orders from his friends and family for a Thanksgiving turkey and then give one to my dad if he came over and killed the turkeys for him.  So, I'd go over with my dad to catch the Turkey so he could then decapitate it.  I would then have to go pick up the Turkey after it ran around with it's head cut off.

That's just one example of many redneck things that I've done.

I watched a 2-hour special on History Channel about the history of mountain folk.

It was called "Hillbillies: The Real Story"

Of course the birth of Nascar was in there.  Basically moonshine runners testing there cars and skills on a track.

But I always thought the term "Redneck" came from working hard outdoors and getting sunburned on yer neck.

Not true.  It comes from from a revolt of coal mine workers against the coal mining corporate machine.  So they could recognize one another, the workers ALL wore red bandanas around their necks.

The corporate machine actually got the upper hand and killed quite a few "rednecks"--as they called them--before the leader of the workers called off the rebellion in fear he would lose good coal workers.

Very interesting show...made me wanna set up a still.

Beer in one hand, gun in the other while wearing a wife beater.

Cleaning guns in the living room, while company is over.

DIY fireworks

learning Banjo

eating a whole roast chicken with my hands (while drinking).

using the term "It'l Ride" WAY to often... even when it is obvious it will not ride at all.

Falling down a bank while fishing and not dropping the pole or spilling an ounce of beer.

I can go on forever, my daddy is from 'bama so it musta rubbed off a bit.

Wow, I wouldn't know where to start either. Catchin crawfish and shootin 'em outta the tailpipe of the pickup was fun. Gettin the dogs drunk, runnin around the house in nothin but boxers and a cowboy hat.....the list goes on and on kids.

My dad is from Oklahoma

We northern folk can be a little red too, just don't have the drawl.  I've got too many to list also, a few are the "you had to be there" type also.

- Towing a sit down jet ski around the yard with a 4 wheeler and over an old cadillac hood proped up on an empty beer keg to make a ramp in August.

- More cars not road worthy than are on the property

- Unloading a lawntractor from the back of the truck by backing across the yard real fast and slamming on the brakes with the gate down

- Enduro racing in a cornfield

- My absolute favorite is, holding a wedding reception for about 150 people in my garage with a champangne fountain filled with Orange Jubalee Mad Dog with clay pigeons for drink cups.  Sadly can't get the image compressed enough to send to ya.

I'll be honest Im a yankee but my partner at work is from MS. He told me this story one time that made me fall down laughing it is so country.

He said his wife was spending the night at his uncles single wide trailer when he was at a school or something. His uncle kept a Harley in the Kitchen of the trailer and used to work on it all the time. His wife one morning was sleeping on the couch and his uncle fired up that Harley and throttled it at like 7 am. He had a exhaust pipe going out the window! She fell off the couch scared out of her mind!

Thats redneck..

I rebuilt a carburetor in the kitchen one time.

My wedding pictures include a pic of the entire wedding party in the back of a Ford F-350 sittin on 36" tires, and my wife holding a shotgun.

Thank you!

That is exactly the reaction I shoot for with redneck antics.  Some things are done 'cause their fun others for the reaction and heck, their fun too.

To be honest I tried tying the tractor to the tree and driving away fast figuring it would be jerked outta the truck and land on its wheels maybe bouncing a few times.  Dang rope broke 3 times so figured the old back up and stop trick works every time....
