Title: Headshaving parallels a religious experience?
Post by: waliguy on December 20, 2007, 08:05:30 PM
Think about it for a moment.

From pre-sly to going sly (in many cases, shaving your head)...anyone feel that this "conversion"  somewhat parallels a religious experience?

-- People that undergo conversions often want to "spread the word."

-- People that undergo conversions want to be around other "like-minded" (or in our case, like-headed) people.

-- Questioning, doubt, and dissent are discouraged, and there can be pressure or social punishment when there is disagreement with the rules.

Naw.  I'm overthinking it.

Wali, I agree, there are some strong parallels.  Not quite sure I would call it as strong as a religious experience.  But it is definitely "Life Changing"!!! O0

We have humble people here?  Who are they?   M!55

Shaving your head for the first time can be a memorable experience, but I'd classify it as anything but religious.   ::)

I think I'm pretty humble out in the real world..I mean who wouldn't be with such a great looking skinned head?! ;)

No, I think the act is humbling in itself... because you're letting EVERYTHING go and what you have left is the inner REAL you..hiding behind NOTHING!

Empowering and somewhat spiritual, brutha!
