hello fellow chrome domes.... hope everyone is doing fine. just wondering....what's your employer giving u 4 Christmas? i'll start: as most of u know..... i work as a RN at a hospital in the beautiful gulf coast. anyways.... we received R Christmas "gift" yesterday. it was a $15 dollar gift certificate for a turkey. >:( >:( >:( my co-workers and i were sooooo humiliated by the gift. i know that its the thought that counts but come on. no wonder there is a nursing shortage. we work so hard and are very understaffed and unappreciated and they give us a 15 dollar gift card to purchase a turkey!!!!!!! atleast give me a target/walmart giftcard so that i have a choice. i'm tired of turkey!!!
okay...okay...sorry 4 my rant but u can't blame me. >:( >:( >:( so.... how 'bout u? what did u get from your employer 4 CHRISTMAS? i hope u got a better deal than me. what's your story?

We usually get a small bonus depending on tenure, with a cap of course. We also sometimes get "tangelos" a tasty mix of oranges and tangerines. Not bad, but it could be better.

We're getting the week off between Christmas and New Year's.
Paid time off with the family is the best gift my employer can give me.

well my boss is taking us all out for a nice steak dinner at an upscale restaurant...plus I get a cah bonus....which is equal to about a weeks pay plus....we get off work from December 21 thru december 27. Cant beat that......unlike a place I use to work at....a grocery store. I was their department manager and we were always use to getting about $150 cash bonus...well the last year I worked there we got a notice that we were no longer having the company party...in which they furnished all the food booze and dj nor were we getting our cash bonuses. They instead gave us a time....say..on sunday between 1pm and 5 pm to come in ..do our grocery shopping and save 20% off our total......????? 20 %? That freakin sucked... i dont think anyone took advantage of it....wasnt worth our time. My mother in law still works there as the deli manager and last year they got a lawn chair...that reads Valu Foods on the back....whoooopieeeeeeeeeee

We're having a Christmas party at a local country club and usually get $100 in a card. Can't complain, it's more than I've gotten with other employers.

25$ gift card and half off anything in the store for 1 day >:(, except smokes, gas, or lottery. The only things I would actually buy. I miss the contruction company I worked with: $400 cash, a Mag lite, and a steak dinner prepared by the owner with all the beer you could drink. O0

we are given the choice between a) a bottle of moderately-priced pinot noir b) a turkey c) a 'gift basket'. i chose the gift basket, just because i'm intrigued by what lame crap they're going to stuff it with.
on a side note: what's up with all the turkey-giving? i mean, if you wrapped a turkey and gave it to your sister for christmas she'd think you'd lost your mind.

WELL... I work for a fairly small family owned company here in the ghetto of DETROIT. THEY'RE barley keeping the doors open so ...Like Paul n Stewie for the new year I get to keep my job and have no cash or benni's taken away. I have the best work record of anyone here INCLUDING the family ! I've been here going on 18 years and only missed 1 day of scheduled work . and THEN i was in the hospital TRYING to get here to work . Another time i had a slip n fall on the ice and broke my wrist on the WAY to work and WAITED till morning to go to the hospital to get it set . BOY was that fun, it was my writing hand, so i had to learn to write with my left REAL QUICK ! including wiping my a** with my left , think im kidding? try using the oppisite hand , it just aint natural ! 2 days after i broke my wrist , the boss's came to me and said" pork , ya know what? its sad that youve been writing with your left 2 nites and your writing is better than any of the drivers ALREADY !"( i work in he office and do ALL the paperwork that doesnt get done during the day shift ) ACTUALLY... Im a BIG guy,so learning to wipe with my left was HARDER than learnin to WRITE ! MAYBE ... we'll get a card with 50$, but I'm not expecting it ! times r real slow here

Nothing..I work for the Government. We go out to lunch and have a departmental Christmas party (this year it is called a "Festive Season party") and we pay our own bill. I have worked for the Gov't for 18 years and have never received a bonus. Can't complain though, it is a good job with good benefits...

Well, I'm a contractor for a water & electric company here in phoenix... The company that cuts my pay check is throwing a cheesy "Christmas party" with Pizza and soda, and the owners brother dresses up as Santa.
the company i actually work for is catering dinner for us and gave us a $50 Visa gift card. My boss gave out a gift pack from a local movie theater chain (2 tickets, shirt, 32 ounce cup that gives you free soda refills for the year)

We will be having a nice Xmas party on Sydney Harbour with all the beer/wine/spirits you can drink though, which always makes for an entertaining evening.

At the rate my boss is pissing off people, he is gonna wind up getting an ass kicking by a disgruntled driver for Christmas. ;D One of our delivery guys about took a swing at him today. He's not a bad guy really, just speaks without thinking first.

Just found out during my Cali trip that's LOTS (about half of an 1800 + employee company) of my former coworkers are getting the boot during this season and a couple months ago!

Yeah my company just laid off 40 people and cut some employee target bonuses. However the board of directors all got a nice pay increase. That is what happens when your company goes to bed with a corporation.

Same thing happened to me back in 2001. The company I was working for eliminated my job in a downsizing on December 15th. Merry Christmas. The only severance was a weeks pay for every year that you'd worked for them and I had to sign an agreement to not persue any legal action to get that. It seems the bigger the company, the less humane and friendly they are towards their employees. It really shows in the way they handle difficult times.

That sucks hard SHDWWLK, I get 2+ weeks off from school. I feel for you.
I have a position in the residence I live in, and as a thank you for our last day of work this semester they made us breakfast. Hah! It was good though, hit the old spot.

seems to be a trend: corporations lay off people before the holidays, and retail shortly after. I worked a the now defunked K's Merchandise for a little bit. A buddy and I broke store sales records during the holiday season. Our reward, cut our hours 50% by the second week of Jan.

By dumb luck I scored our Wii today!!! went to wally world on my lunch got on the waiting list. Left work an hour early. 20 minutes after I walk into the door they call my name. you only got one if you were on the list and present when they arrived. I was #11, one woman left the store for 15 min. and lost her spot. 16 were given out all together.
....work gave my wife and I 25 dollar gift cards, and she landed an extra 20 for getting the most Toys for Tots donations. over $450. Even though I don't agree with the way our company selected the toys, I'm still proud of her. What sucked most is when we dropped the toys of at the Marine base. They didn't show an ounce of gratitude. Not even a half ass thank you. It was worth the trip watching my boss almost fall flat on his face checking out a marine lady he thought was cute.
