Title: Longevity
Post by: Razor X on December 02, 2007, 07:56:12 PM
These people work out in the same gym that I use.  They are truly amazing.  I hope that I can make it to their age in such good condition.  They are truly inspirational:

Wow, I would have never pegged their ages over 90.  I guess I had better get back on track; I have had a hard time getting back to the gym on a regular basis.  My recommendation is to not stop going; it's incredibly hard to start back up after a layoff.

They really are amazing.  I usually see them in the gym on the weekends.  That lady goes around talking to everybody, giving them pep talks to keep up the good work so they can live to be as old as she is.  Last Sunday she came over to me and said she doesn't understand how people can expect to live a long time when they don't want to exercise.  Keep moving, she says. If a weight is too heavy, pick up a lighter one, but just keep moving.

Razor, I don't think I could agree more with that statement. Being healthy isn't about drowning yourself in sweat four times a week, it's just a lifestyle change. And I think that's part of the problem people have with finding a program they want to stick with, and sticking with that program. In my opinion, your exercise/health program should be fun and flexible. She has the right attitude, which makes me wonder if it's just the fact that she goes to gym so often that she's been around for 93 years.

Great read!

Great article.  When I saw the couple's photo I thought they were about in their late 60's at the most.  Amazed to read  they are both 93.

It's an example to everyone. O0
