Title: Shave Secret - The best shave you can get from Wal-Mart (ssshhh, don't tell)
Post by: Tyler on November 28, 2007, 02:05:38 AM
The other day I was cruising through Wal-Mart while my wife was looking around and of course I head over to the shaving section to see what products they are currently selling. I'm used to seeing the usual big name brands when I happen to go to Wal-Mart, but this time was a little different. After my conversation with a little old man that was looking for a styptic pencil, I noticed something that I had never seen before - Shave Secret. No, it's not a secret, it a product called Shave Secret. If it was a secret, it wouldn't be in Wal-Mart. Then again, I hadn't heard of it, so maybe it was a secret. Anyways...I grabbed it off the shelf to see how good this Shave Secret product really is.

(https://www.slybaldguys.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.shavesecret.com%2Fimages%2Fblisterpack_trial_size.jpg&hash=1e3d9257135d59a8bae27c088cd500078848d3e4)

The next morning I grabbed the little bottle and headed to the shower. And this is what I found:

The Shave

Like a lot of oils I've tried, Shave Secret provides great protection for your scalp and face while also providing a slick surface to shave on. The instructions state the following:

    1) Generously wet the area to be shaved

    2) Massage 3-5 drops of Shave Secret into a moist palm

    3) Massage into the skin

    4) Shave as normal. (Be sure to rinse your razor often)

    5) No need to rinse the shaved area, just towel dry.

Considering I was shaving my head and it has more surface area than my face, I decided to use 9 drops instead of 5. This seemed adequate as I got a great shave out of it. I was able to do all passes on my head with just those 9 drops and didn't need to re-apply at all.

When it says to "Be sure to rinse your razor often" they are not kidding! This oil provides a slick surface on your skin, but is very sticky on your razor, so it tends to gunk up the razor pretty good.

Pros

This was a great shave and better than any product that I've used that is also on Wal-Mart's shelf.

It was less than $4 and will probably last two months using it on both my face and head.

It comes in a bottle that is only 18.75 ml, which I'm guessing is about 1 oz, so this is perfect for the traveler.

Cons

The smell is a very strong menthol like tree smell. Almost like Eucalyptos, but slightly different.

The razor tends to gunk up a lot, though this didn't really effect the shave, just a nuisance.

Thanks for the review Ty, though I think it must still be a secret here.  Couldn't find it on the store shelf by me, but will check out Walgreens and CVS to see if they have it.

Ty, thanks for the review.  I've used Shave Secret off and on for several years (way before shaving my head).  King of Shaves oil works better for me (less drag and less razor clogging).  Both are good choices and give great protection to the skin.

You can't beat the price and portability.

I have some and I use it mostly w/ taking care of "rough" spots I find after shaving with Headslick and my scalp is already dried off.  The shower shavers might like it alone, but I'm still a sink man myself.  It's good stuff.  The odor is pleasant, spicy but not quite Old Spice.  I recomend it.

I agree with you Max.  Though, this was the only shave oil that the Wal-Mart in my area carried, so that's why it was the "Best shave you could get from Wal-Mart."  They did have KoS Alpha Ge at our Wal-Martl, but I'm not a big fan of that.

It's got clove in it too, T. That is the strongest smell. I love the stuff and use it under my HeadSlick.

I was in Walmart today to buy an ice pack. While there, the shave aisle, was right by me. I saw this Shave Secret, and figured I'd give it a go. I used about 8 drops, and applied it to my 4 day growth (I normally shave every second day, but I injured my knee, and standing has been uncomfortable). I began using my HeadBlade. After only a few passes, the HB was clogged solid. I switched over to my Mach III Power, and finished up. It is definitely the closest shave I have had. I love it better than Head Slick, and other shaving creams and gels I have used. The odor reminds my of Vicks Vapor Rub. Only not as strong. I am giving up on Head Bl;ade, going back to my Schick Extreme III disposeables, and using the Shave Secret oil. I will still be using my M III Power for my face with plain old cream.

MAYBE THIS ISNT THE PLACE TO ASK, BUT... does anyone know if you coud put like scented body oils that come in those lil vials into regular BABY OIL? I was just sitting here at work,(doing nothing but mental calastentics) thinking that SOME essentil oils have like relaxing properties , etc... and has anyone tried to MIX them into regular baby oil for "shaving" purposes ?  if NOT... then next week when things calm down a lil I'll try it in one of the lil travel size bottles of babyoil and just see what happens

This is a fantastic product put under your favorite cream. I bought some the other day and have used it twice with HeadSlick and KOS Alpha. It gives in incredible smooth shave. I hope it helps cut down on my irritation

I've been using this under HeadSlick, and it's good stuff.

My only complaint is that sometimes it stings my eyes ... but I'm not putting it near my eyes!

The clove smell really clears the sinuses.

I like using shave oils under shave creme like my fav, Head Slick, or even regular bar soap.  By itself, it works ok for me, but using it under Head Slick, I get my entire face and head as slick as a ball bearing.  good stuff

WOW!  That had to be one of the best shaves ever!!

I did my normal shower shave routine using Shave Secret... and the smoothness of the razor glide was fantastic, as was the closeness of the shave!  As with all other oils that I've tried, the razor did gunk up, but it wasn't too bad.

The only thing that put me off a bit was the scent... it does smell like Vick Vaporub.  However, a quick wash with Bald Guyz wash after the shave took care of the lingering odor.

This is definitely my travel shave stuff now!

All I can also say is WOW.  I ran out of shave gel yesterday and had to use my electric.  So I ran to Wal-Mart at lunch yesterday to pickup a new can of shave gel.  I see the Shave Secret and I've always wondered if the stuff would really work.  I think I've always been skeptical because it is such a tiny bottle and it says that you only need to use a couple of drops.  I just thought "How could that be????"

Well, I decided to pickup a bottle, but also picked up a can of shave gel.....just in case.  I tried it this morning and I can honestly say that I got one of the best shaves that I have ever gotten.   All of you guys really need to try this stuff.  The only hard part for me is being used to seeing the foam from the gel on my head, I always knew where I had shaved.  Using this stuff, you definitely have to use the braille (feel) method.  It will take some getting used to but based on what I see today, I'm sold on the stuff.

Also, an added benefit is that I think if helps my complexion and skin tone.

Noticed this stuff a while back around here and bought a bottle.  It did give a really good shave but I just can not get over the smell.  It's not a real bad smell just way too strong.  I may use Baldrob's advice and give it another try but then rewash the dome afterwards.

I've used it before too, but like Lance and BR, I can't stand the smell.  Also, hard to get used to shaving without seeing some kind of product on the dome you know?

Naw, you're good Tim.  It's not about you not being open minded or not.  You just have a product that works for you so it makes sense for you not to change up.  Or waste a bunch of money on other things when you have one that works.  It's funny about that...I started out trying the HeadBlade and all of it's products.  Then I went from one product and razor to the next.  Blew, God knows how much money.  Now I'm right back to where I started without a problem in the world.  Using the good old HeadBlade, HeadSlick, HeadLube and other HB products.  I think sometimes it comes down to just not giving something enough time.  With me it was anyway.

I saw this in WalMart a while back, gave it a quick thought and then said, you know what, I've got three products that work just fine for me. I use the KoS oil and I get a good shave from it.
I agree with Lance in saying why just spend the extra money to try every damn thing?. My trio works just fine, and I'm going to stick with it. The only one I do eventually want to try is the Bald Guyz shave gel.

But I do agree with Tim, Headslick is definitely the tops for me.

I've noticed this too.  I tend to use about 6 drops.  Just a couple more than what is suggested.  But it does give the best shave and the best benefit I've found is that the oil gives my skin a great complexion.  Very smooth and clear.

OK, SLYinKC buddy, with yours and many other endorsements, it's got to be good stuff. I've seen it for months in the shaving aisle, but always pass on it. It's pretty inexpensive, too. Anyone use it on their face as well? I'll have to report back. O0

I use it on my face and dome.  I was always getting alot of nicks and cuts around my jaw line with shave gel and I've been smooth and "nick or cut free" with the Shave Secret.

I like adding a few drops of it to HeadSlick. Man, it works great.  By itself, its ok.  I also have used plain old olive oil in the same way and it works great also.  A few drops of that with the Headslick and a fresh Schick Extreme and I am one slick skinhead

I don't know how I feel about this stuff. I used about 10 drops, and there was a lot of razor drag, and I cut myself once (haven't done that in about 9 months). This is the first time I've ever used a shaving oil, so maybe I did it wrong. It said to massage it into your hands and area to be shaved... and that's what I did. On the other hand, it seemed like I got a better shave with less passes. Should I just put it in my hand and  then rub it onto my scalp? Or really try to work it in?

Cam did you use an old blade? thats what usually causes blade drag.
When i use it I make sure my hands and head are wet and rub it in real good and reapply water as I go. No nick or drag at all and the smell isn't bad at all.

Actually, I did. I usually change my blade once a week (usually Saturdays) or else it irritates my head. I forgot to change it before I shaved tonight. I'll give it another go tomorrow with a new blade. Thanks for the reminder!

I got this stuff back out of storage and gave it a try this morning.  It did, as before, gave a good shave.  The smell was still a little on the strong side for me but I could probably get use to it.  But something I didn't notice before...Does anyone have a clue of the actually ingredients in this stuff.  I mean, I'm not a health freak(no offense to any who are) but if you read the package all it says is something about "clove" and something else.  Then just states, "other oils."  I've looked on their web site too and can't find any exact ingredients.  I guess no biggie since people have been using it and it gives a great shave.  But I just would prefer to know exactly what I'm putting on my skin.  I went under the contact link on their site and have wrote them to ask this question.

Clove oil, menthol, peppermint oil, I suppose the base is mineral oil. I like using cream over it for a visual aid.

I've used Shave Secret for years (first on my face, now on my head too).  10 drops covers the whole area.  I just rewet if after the first pass to do my touch up.

Lance, I haven't done any research, but I'd bet the oil products are more natural than creams or gels.

Thanks for the tip, Rick! I admit I was skeptical of this little bottle of oil. I tried this for the first time today and it's awesome. I keep the routine pretty simple with Edge gel and a Mach3 or Fusion. But a few drops of this really gave a slippery slick shave. I put a thin layer of shave gel over it and the results were excellent. I thought the scent was great; not overpowering at all and very natural. And it left a great natural shine to the dome. My skin was smooth all day on face and head. It's a keeper.

Oh, heck yeah.  I ordered some of this stuff about a year ago and it was by far one of the best shaves I had ever gotten hands down.  But like you said it is a bit more pricey and since it's only sold around the Cali area I have to order it online.  Which is no biggie to me but the shave secret is only around the corner for about $3.  But for sure, Pacific Shaving Oil is some good stuff.  If anyone ever wants to give something else a try you will not be disappointed I guarantee it.  The best thing about it I found, besides the awesome shave, is the smell.  It's not over powering at all.  I actually still have a few drops of this stuff left.  I think I'll treat myself today.  :)

Just to give all of you, that care, an update on the Shave Secret ingredients I received a reply back.  Here's the guy's exact words:

The blend is comprised of cold pressed seed and nut oils, botanical
essential oils (clove), vanilla oil and Rx grade menthol. Nothing else.

So it sounds like some good stuff.  I mean, I knew it was a great shave but now that I know the exact ingredients I'm that much happier with it.  I think I found my new routine.  Shave Secret followed up by Aloe Vera.   O0

Thanks, Lance. Now I'm going to have to try it. I will pick some up next trip to Wal-Mart.
I have to compare it to KoS oil, since it got such rave reviews. Been a while since I bought anything new for shaving anyway.

I don't know about this stuff my bros.   :-\  I just gave it a another try and it didn't do too well with me.  It seemed to almost have a drag to it.  For me anyway.  I used it just like I do my KoS oil.  I applied a little extra just to make sure I covered the dome well and rewet the dome in between every few razor strokes.  It just didn't do it for me.  I'm not going to knock it just yet though.  I'll give it another go the next time I shave just in case.  It did tend to make my dome a little oily just like my KoS does.  That's why I had stopped using the KoS and went back to HeadSlick.  But we'll see.

I gave the Shave Secret another try a little bit ago and it did a way better job.  I think it's because I used a different razor.  I'm totally convinced now that there are just some razors that are not going to work on some people's head no matter what.  I got my Fusion out of storage yesterday to use with the Shave Secret and it just did not do anything for me.  My head has a lot of bumps and dents in it and it just seems like the Fusion goes right over these spots.  I used my Schick Extreme today and it was a big difference.  Smooth as can be.  I notice too that the Fusion seems to drag a lot more than any other razor I've ever used.  Just my opinion.

One trick I have learned with Shave Secret is put a drop of oil on the blades of your razor and the lube strip. It makes it even more cushiony. I like to do this when I am shaving on my neck where I have to be careful. Try it!

I gave Shave Secret another go earlier today and it was a lot better of an experience.  I used a different razor and a little more of the oil and it was really nice.  I may add this to my routine.  I'm still not sure if I like it better than the KoS Nexium oil I use.  But we'll see.

Man, I just picked up some Shave Secret yesterday and used it for the first time this morning. O0 What a difference it made in not only in the soft silkiness of my slick dome but it also improved the length that my head stayed smooth.

I just used a few drops on the noggin before applying my regular HeadSlick and then shaved with my HeadBlade and a new Atra cartridge. I also like the mild clove aroma.

Next will be the Pacific Shaving Oil since I've heard a lot of great things about it.

I've been using this with my HeadSlick and I dig it, I use it on my face too. The shaves are great and it keeps the skin slick and the razor lubed. Also at $3 a bottle, its well worth it in my opinion.

I do wish they would ditch that clove smell, I'm not a fan of it at all, luckily it is short lived.

I have used Shave Secret for about 4 months, and was very happy with it! Then, I read where a couple of my Sly brothers were using it in conjunction with Head Slick and thought I'd give it a try. Simply put - Incredible. This is my go to combo! Next time I buy a new bottle of Shave Secret, I'm gonna dump it into my bottle of Head Slick and save myself the trouble of doing first one, then the other. If you haven't tried it yet, all I can say is "Try it, you'll fall in love!" O0

Tank, I think you will like this product. It really works great, and it has a slight edge on the KOS alpha oil. I have them both, but haven't used either one for a while now, so I will use it (Shave Secret) today.

Hopefully you will get good results, and you may even want to try it under your cream or gel, as some guys do.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.    O0

Used it twice since it came for my face and head.  Like the rest of u, I'm finding this pretty excellent. Was a bit worried in not wanting to ruin my badger brushes but it was sweet as. I'm lucky enough to  get real smooth most of the time but this just seems to make the process that bit quicker and easier.

My regular oil I'm not ditching, it's more a conditioning oil which seems to give me nice glow and kill off shadow but Shave Secret I'm keeping  O0

Yeah actually tried it with applying the oil first and then massaging BaldGuyz gel by hand and going right to the shave, Perfecto!!

I use traditional English shaving soaps for the face such as Trumpers's Rose that I use with shaving brushes.  Just out of economy, I do the my noggin that way too if I feel like it and Shave Secret works fab that way too.

This oil's the bomb either way  O0

Yeah the WalMarts around here carry it but I've been trying out some product that is sold in local RiteAid drug stores. It's actually its a whole line of products made by "One Planet".  The oil is 100 natural oils including eucalyptus, grape seed and olive oil. It seems to work pretty well alone but I'll have to try it under my head slick. It's actually in a little pump bottle which I'm not sure if I like yet or not.I'm also using their aftershave balm which is made from eucalyptus, peppermint and aloe vera. The only issues I see with it is the fact that it does smell quite pepperminty and  it does have an additional sting which only lasts a minute or so.

They have that at the Wall Mart Supercentre in Oshawa where I live. i only seen it a couple months ago, but because I keep a buzz and no longer shave my head completely bald (due to wearing hats and cant get a tan on my head to get rid of the white color) I had no use of buying it. Altho when I used to shave my head, I used to buy this oil from Shoppers Drug Mart, but cannot remember the name of it, my dad might tho, he was the one that showed it to me in the first place. Altho I need to ask a question even tho it does not fit on this post, but does anyone out there kno of a tanning lotion for people who shave there head? Does a product like this exist, and is it cheap??? If there is a product out there like this, or one ment as a general tanning lotion for anywhere on the body that people use for their heads, I might start shaving my head completely bald again, instead of using buzzers with the LV 1 setting to maintain my Buzz Cut.

I don`t know why they call it an oil. It`s a liquid and it has a very strong smell. It open my  sinus up the first time I used it,but it`s a great natural antibacterial and antiseptic.

This morning was the first time I used Shave Secret and OMG! It's the first shave I've ever had without irritation on the back of my neck!  The smell wasn't strong at all for me.  Being an oil, I somehow expected it to be very slick and glide on my head like a lube, but it didn't.  About 10 drops, rubbed into my palms, then onto my head, lathered up the brush in the shower and it went great. Shave Secret rocks!!

OK, found this stuff in wally world, decided to blow the three bucks and give it a try.  Loved it so much I just had to come here and let all in on it, glad I did a search for it first, only a few years behind the curve, but I am still learning the way of sly.
I do love the product. About forty-five days into the way and this is the first TRULY smooth shave I have managed.
It works extremely well if you massage it in on a wet head until scalp is dry of water, then re-wet head. I use about nine drops (I have a big head).
Use Pro-Fusion Manual at sink and just run hot water backwards through it, no clog issue.
Also carry secret to work and apply about five drops to dry hands and rub in throughout the day, very refreshing and I LOVE the shine.
Anyway, two thumbs way up, at least from this newbie.

Wow.  I was on the fence about adding shaving oil to my routine ... but decided to give Shave Secret a try since so many of you raved about it.  UNBELIEVABLE.  Last night, I used 7 drops of SS underneath HeadSlick and got the best shave of my (albeit short) head-shaving career.  It is at least 2x-3x better than just HeadSlick alone!

After just one SS shaving experience, it is a permanent fixture in my shaving products.  It's really that good.  Thanks to everyone for the recommendation.

Sounds like a good product, I would love to try it but my mom is afraid to go to the closest Walmart because its in the "ghetto" LOL. She also is afraid to buy stuff online because she had an identity theft thing happen with a buyer on amazon.

That stuff sound like this Bump Stopper stuff I used to use, you put it on your head and rubbed it in before your shave. From my experiences it wasn't the best.

The best part about it is that the cost for it isn't high. About 3 bucks at Wally World, and you can either combine it with Cream or use it on its own...you can't go wrong. The only downside I have with it is that it clogs the razor when you have more than 2 days worth...

Very nice. I'm just trimming the 'edges' right now ... but the result was much smoother than just Head Slick or traditional foam shave cream.  Mixed Head Slick with the Shave Secret as some have suggested.  A very little goes a very long way. (on both head slick and shave secret).

I've only done this one day and I'm not fully shaving my head yet, just the temple area and about an inch up in the back.  But everything felt very smooth ... more so than with out the oil (shave secret). And for less than $4 for a bottle and you use only 3 drops per day .... it's pretty inexpensive.

Sure it works on the face very good...just follow the directions and put the oil on first and then your gel and you'll get a good shave. There are other light oils that work well too.

I have read so many good reviews about this product that I ordered a bottle yesterday online from their website. They offered me free overseas shipping which is great for those of us on the other side of the 'pond'.

I'm a sink shaver after a hot shower. Before leaving the shower i rub some baby oil on my dome, than apply shave gel or sometimes the Headslick (I'm not really that much of a fan of the HS but I still have a bottle to go thru).

With the Shave Secret, would you recommend to also add some cream, gel, Headslick...or is it enough to just apply the SS. I will eventually try different scenarios but would be good to see what your experiences are

Cheers

I apply the SS and rub it all over, then rub on some gel...Bald Guyz or Head Slick and then start mowing with my electric or cutting with my Fusion. You're right, try different ways to find out what you like...good luck.

I've only been using the shave secret for a few days. Add 3 drops to a small mount of head slick. Mix them together and apply. Seems to result in smoother skin that just head slick by itself.

Yes i just started doing that and it makes it even better and adds even more protection.. i add just a few drops of secret shave, rub it in real good, then i add the regular shaving gel cream, then go at the shaving, for me it has been the smoothest shave i have ever had  O0

I used it today on my face (shaved down from beard to Van Dyke) and it left the face real smooth...It did okay on the head but not exactly anything to write home about...I used four drops each for both head and face. Nice aftersmell, BTW

I posted a few days ago that I just bought the SS online. It finally arrived and here's my little review, using it alone and together with my regular shave gel, always applied on my wet dome exiting the shower

- Using only SS I took 9 drops instead of the 4 or 5. It was enough, you can rewet with water whenever you feel your skin is too dry or you want to make another pass. I got a very good and close shave

- I achieved the same result with my shaving gel applied on top of the SS. It glided just a little better, but the closeness was identical. Instead of 9 drops I used 4-5 as SS recommends

SS definetely works and I'm glad I tried it. It will be part of my routine for sure. I guess I will be using it together with my shave gel when shaving at home, when travelling I might only take my little bottle of SS with me. We'll see

If you are considering giving it a try I would say go for it

I'll post again once I receive and get to try the product, but I wanted to post about the great customer service this company provides.

As the product is not sold in Canada, I looked into ordering direct. I couldn't tell from the website what the shipping cost would be to Canada so I emailed them to find out. They got back to me very quickly. I then ordered from the site, but what came up after I entered my payment information did not agree with what they had told me. I emailed again to let them know about the issue and that I would have to cancel my order as the shipping made the transaction not worth it. They again replied very quickly. They let me know that there was a problem with the site, that they were working with the webmaster to fix it, that they'd void my transaction and they'd let me know when they got it sorted out. I replied to thank them and to let them know I'd order as soon as the web issue was resolved. They emailed me again (again a very quick response) to let me know that I shouldn't have to wait and that they were sending me out a sample right away.

In all, it was less than two hours from my first email to them and to the final email that the product was on its way.

It's all too rare that we see such great customer service these days (In particular, getting this type of service to a Canadian customer from a US vendor), so I wanted to publicly acknowledge them.

Sorry didn't post again sooner.  My Shave Secret arrived in early Feb and I've been using it ever since.

I don't use it for my head shaves, just face.  I tried it several ways:
1. alone - this worked very well. my only issue was lack of a visual cue as to where I had already shaved
2. mixed with shave cream (Bigelow) - this worked well, just slightly better than the cream alone, not better than the oil alone
3. massage oil in first and then apply cream - this worked the best for me.

What really made the biggest difference for me was after shaving, rinse and dry was to use 2 drops to massage in as an 'aftershave' (this was suggested in the instructions that came with it). This along with option 3 has taken care of the razor burn issues I've recently been having around my chin.

I also want to mention that the company has great customer service. Very quick to respond to emails and deal with any questions or concerns (I had some concerns about the shipping to Canada, but they resolved them quickly and beyond any expectations).

I just picked up 2 bottles last night.  Funny story which I'll post in a new thread.

It was about $4 at Walmart including tax. Oh, my first bottle lasted 4 months, 4 drops per day/shave.

I have been using SS for 6 months and really like it.
I bought it online from their website, it was shipped free to the other side of the pond
However today I went on a small ´shopping tour`at a Tesco shop in the
UK and bought a small bottle of KOS Shaving oil.
Besides that I got a KOS Super Face Scrub and a Face Wash from Bulldog.....so plenty of new things to try out over the weekend!!!!

I did not find the difference dramatic, but I still use Shave secret daily.  I think there is some difference and thus I like it.

Used Shave Secret for the first time yesterday. Wow. I'm excited about using it again as it made shaving my dome so much faster and easier. Recommending it to all of my Sly buds...

And it is cheap ... $4 for a bottle. I use it daily and have only used half the bottle in 6 weeks.

OK, I picked up a bottle at Wal Mart today.  Just got out of the shower; here's my $0.02.

I friggin' LOVE this stuff!

I planned to use it under some cream, but decided to try it alone, per the instructions.  Using 9 drops and a new Schick Quatro 4 blade I proceeded to shave.

Incredible!  No more cream; this is my new oil!

Thanks for this thread and the recommendations!

Congrats, Stoots! It is nice to have whether alone, or combined with your favorite gel/cream/shaving soap.

This stuff is really good but I don't recommend using it alone like the bottle says.  Didn't work very well alone for me.

10-12 drops is what I use and then I apply shaving cream over the top of it.

Much smoother shave with this product but keep it away from the eyes, it can irritate them

It is good stuff, but in a pinch you can use most any light oil. One member uses coconut oil. I tried it and liked it, but I was hungry all day. Good luck!

I only use it on my face. (Only because I'm happy with my HB products on my head and had issues with my face shave I wanted to try to get over)

I found it worked for me both alone or under my shave cream.  I do prefer using it then the shave cream over top (I use 4 drops)
I also use 2 drops after I finish shaving instead of an after shave. I find this helps with some irritation I get on my chin/neck area.

Shave secret really isn't a secret.  I have used it many times over the past 15 years.  It is awesome when you don't have all your stuff with you on a trip and you don't want to spend a fortune on supplies.  I did not care for it as a daily use item, but like I said in my travels it really helps.

Either way--I've peeled the peach with just SS--but personally I like it cover with Headslick, applied with a brush.  A great travel accessory--it doesn't take any serious room in the one quart bag for TSA inspection and the bottle has never leaked.
