My aunt always makes this stuff called "Banana Split Cake" made with cool whip, bananas, pineapple, and some other stuff. I could eat the whole thing, but I'd better not. I don't think it's on my new low-fat, low-cholesterol diet. This Thanksgiving may be hard with the new eating rules. :Xo!
-
OH SUNSHINE! yeah..i forgot all about taht banana split cake...omgish..my aunt makes that too.....just give me the damn pan and a huge spoon and im fine....

Hey all just wondering..what is your favorite holiday dessert?
i would have 2 choose either a pecan pie or my mother-in-law's famous poundcake. O0
This Thanksgiving may be hard with the new eating rules. :Xo!
hey rick...don't worry about the new eating rules during the holiday season. just remember moderation... if that helps.

I agree. Enjoy yourself -- within reason, of course. Just remember it's one day and after that it's back on your regimen. It's the leftovers that will kill you. Unfortunately, for a lot of people, Thanksgiving is just the start of the holiday eating season, which seems to continue non-stop until New Year's. If you can limit your indulgences to just the holiday itself, you should be fine.

I really don't know how to answer this question. Rarely have I come across a dessert that I didn't like. I'm not a big fan of pumpkin pie, though. My mother makes great cheesecakes, but I don't think she's planning on making one for Thanksgiving.

Homemade toffee or shortbread.
Hey, it's the only few days out of the year when butter gets a hall pass.

Key Lime Pie is where it's at for me.

My wife makes something I call Green Stuff. It is pistachio pudding mixed with cool whip. Simple, but oh so good.
Tomgallagher, I'm coming to your house. I've never had Chocolate Pecan Pie topped with Cool Whip..... , but that sounds good.
-

I've never tried pumpkin pie, though pumpkins on Halloween are becoming more and more popular here. Perhaps you could send me some through the post!!?? ;)
-
OMGISH....you have never tried pumpkin pie! That is a sin here in the US. LOL...I just figured pumpkin pie was world wide. Oh well....I guess my grandmothers recipe for pork n bean bread isnt world wide either.
-
then I guess I'm a sinner! >:D

my wife makes german chocolate cake from scratch and when teamed up with a big glass of cold milk.......OMG. good stuff. my sis in law makes MISSISSIPPI MUD PIE and that stuff is pretty good too. really any desert is good with me. not real big on pumpkin or sweet tater pie though.
-
I really like some of the variations of fudge that come around from different folks "goodies trays" etc.
My friend makes this egg nog drink with mocha ice cream and all kinds of liquor, absolutely great!
I love most Pies too, Pumpkin and berry pies especially but Apple Pie is one of my favorites all year round.
-
Oh, and don't forget the lemon bars. My mom makes them every year at Christmas. And sugar cookies also. Man, no wonder I need to lose weight... :Xo!
-
Our family has a recipe for a delicious pie called Jeff Davis Pie. All I know is that it's a custard type of pie and there had better be at least two of 'em at Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. Tasty stuff.
-
Pig Pen, can you get the family to release the receipe? The "low cal" version of course. Pumpkin pies, from scratch from "pie pumpkins" are unbelievably good, definately not post office material though. My wife has an old Fannie Farmer cook book we inherited from like the 1930's, the receipe is different from the latest edition, and that old version is Thanksgiving in my book. Although the Meyer lemons are getting ripe on the tree in the back yard, so we'll also have homemade and grown lemon tart and as May West taught us all, "Too much of a good thing can be wonderful!" It's not called gooble-gooble day for nothing. Decisions to be made, Turduckin, smoked turkey or fried? Decisions, Decisions!

Doubtful saintc, it's closely guarded.
-
My favorite is without a doubt pumpkin pie, but I also love coconut custard pie around the holidays too.

Happy Thanksgiving to all...to those who wont be reading this before next week!
see ya
TimTom Turkey!

TImmj if you Google it, I think they ship them. It's definately good. The guy that invented them ought to get a Noble prize. And if you're having guests they'll remember it with pleasure too. Katrina couldn't hurt Louisiana cooking and cusine.
-
I make a mean chocolate mint cheese cake. Throw on some red and green spinkles and it's christmas!!!!
-
Nothing like a versatile dessert!

Green Stuff?
Never had pistachio pudding and don't like Cool Whip 'cause it has all those chemical ingredients. A better version would be pistachio ice cream with Ready Whip. :-\
Chocolate Pecan Pie?
I have to agree with you herronm. Tom Gallagher's Chocolate Pecan Pie
sounds mighty inviting. But there's no need to go over to his place if he just
shares his recipe with us. O0
It's gonna be an ordinary home baked Apple Pie for me. Maybe I'll be adveturous this year and try topping it off with some of herronm's "green stuff". @c3
-
I like Little Debbie's Pumpkin delights. Sucks thier only availible during the fall, I'd buy 'em all year round.
-
Thats ALOT of nuts Tyler....always thought you were a little nutty!
He would have to be to have a nut case like you in here! hahaha jk bro
