Is it possible to add a location field to the profile info that shows up next to our avatars? The "where are you from" question seems to come up a lot whenever new people join.
-
that's a half decent idea
-
The field is available to fill out in the profile. Let me see if I can get it to show on the main forum screen.
-
Not a bad idea T.
-
there is an area in the profile information where you can add info that goes under your username. Why not just add your location in that area. Or like many of the Sly Bros here do, go to www.imagechef.com (http://www.imagechef.com)and create a personalised license plate of where you come from and add it to your user profile.

I know. I was just asking if that information could be brought forward to the forum pages. I've seen other SMF forums that do that. That way it pops up automatically and people can see where everyone else is from.

Once you click preview, click on the button to post to a blog or myspace. Then, copy the [IMG] link below where it says Message Boards / Forums.
That should do it.

OK, I think I've finally got it. Thanks. Now, how so I fix it so the code doesn't show up next to the image?

I ran into the same problem when I copied and pasted the code in this field to my signature line initially:
Doing that, gave me this:
<a href="http://www.imagechef.com/" target="_blank"> <img style="visibility:hidden;width:0px;height:0px;" border=0 width=0 height=0 src="http://counters.gigya.com/wildfire/CIMP/Jmx0PTExOTQ5MjI1NTMyNDQmcHQ9MTE5NDkyMzAwOTU4OCZwPTExOTMxJmQ9Jm49.jpg" />
You could just delete "<img style="visibility.....jpg" /> and it would look normal.
OR
you could copy the text from this field:
And it would look like this:
(https://www.slybaldguys.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fcdnll.img1.imagechef.com%2Fw%2F071112%2Fsamp129d7b3b6f97ba1c.jpg&hash=4186bd74183f0b61a38943df904ed8d5f2ef46db)
Either option will give you the same results. Personally, I would recommend the second option because with the limited number of characters allowed in the signature field, the second option allow you more room to add other text.
Thus ends my imagechef posting tutorial. :*))

Thanks, Doug, after reading your post, I went to my profile and deleted that part of the code and it worked. For some of us "non-techies" things like that are just way over my head sometimes. :/O
-
SLYinKC, glad it helped. O0

Thanks, again. SLYinKC and I are accountants, not "techies", as I seem to be reminding people at work a lot these days! ;D

Great to see the Sly Plates are catching on! I think Tyler,Schro,Marz and BaldAndre are outta luck because there appears to be no California plates to use as a template on the Imagechef site.
-
Check it!
