I remember the music. Bands like Nirvana, Candlebox, Matchbox 20, Korn, Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw and several other country stars.
I also remember t-shirts like Big Dog and Big Johnson being popular. Big Johnson Casino - Liquor Up Front, Poker In The Rear.
On the west coast beach brands like Stussy, Mossimo, Local Motion, and Quicksilver became popular.

Man...The 90's.. My favorite decade after the 80's...I grew up in this era and I remember a lot about it,good and bad.
Keg stands at college house parties,the teen movies(American Pie,Cant Hardly Wait etc),sappy TV shows(7th Heaven,Dawsons Creek,)nu-metal,the samurai haircut, the stoner lifestyle,lawnmowing,tree climbing..economic prosperity..true emo music none of this My Chemical Romance crap..Bill Clinton..minivans w/ or w/o Soccer moms...Soccer moms..the suburbs...the rise of the car stereo system...1.50packs of smokes..$8 cases of beer...Friday night football played under the lights...the smell on a warm summer night...
The great thing about the 90's was the fact it wasnt the 80's anymore. I miss the good 'ole days.

The things I remember most abut the nineties are Stone Temple Pilots, No Fear t-shirts (I did not like those at all!) and Ford Mustangs.

the first part was a blurr. i was snowboarding, rock climbing, mountain biking, drinking, smoking weed. the middle was a blurr cause i was working, drinking, smoking weed. the last part was a blurr cause i was married and wishing i was drinking, smoking weed, snowboarding.................
ha ha i enjoyed the hell out of the 90's. had some REALLY good times.

I mentioned this in the 80's topic, but I guess worth repeating here. 90's was a decade of change for me. Met my wife, got married, had both of my kids, moved about 4 times, and worked for about 6 different companies.

I remember OJ from the 90's LOL. Well, the 90's for me was very life changing. I got married, had 2 of my three kids. The 90's ...wasnt that the big boom for everyone getting the internet? Alot of changes happened in the 90's.

Besides what I mentioned in my post above, I went to college, met, courted and married my wife. :@` It was a good decade for me!

Geez, I remember a lot of stuff. The stuff that really sticks out for me would have to be playing in my first band. Moving back to Albuquerque to live with my mom. Graduating high school, my first not so successful semester in college. Speaking of college, like JDog said, house parties, keg stands, and the fraternity parties. Made some really good friends in the 90's whom I still talk to today.
That's when I thought I was invincible, like every other teenage boy.

First jobs after college and realizing this was actually going to be work. I was still staying out late and getting up early to put on a suit & tie (yes, business casual had not yet caught on) and thought I'd be easy. Wrong!!! It wasn't until I got married in 1995 that I finally got serious about my career. Although there was a lot going on in the 90's, the fact that I finally grew up is what I'll take from that decade.
Other things I remember
1. Monica Lewinsky pretending to be a humidor and Billary Clinton denying it.

3. Rodney King
4. Discovering an appreciation for MILF's
5. Discovering that I liked Vodka
6. The Oakland Hills firestorm

In the early 90s, people (including me) used to wear these tacky as hell, colorful jeans....like bright green, or red or purple. And it was cool.
Looney Toons were worn by tough guys, and people would get Nike and Looney Toon Tattoos and designs in their haircuts....corny.
I had a mushroom haircut up until 96, lol...damn I love being bald.
Booty music was in style...not sure if you older folks know about this, but it was extremely fast tempo rap music....like Uncle Luke and 2 Live Crew.
The TV show Martin was hilarious....Simpsons were still funny....We had a bad ass president.

the 80s was my favorite decade because it was a fun, carefree decade as a kid/adoloscent. the 90s was another memorable decade. it was my college days at FLORIDA STATE. like jdog.... i attended many keg parties & house parties of all kinds w/ live bands, dj's. like chico...i remember the booty music. like timmy i remember the bad memories of the oj trial. i also remember nine inch nails & nirvana when they broke out. it was an un4getable decade. i met my wife in the mid 90s & started 2 get serious with life & finally got married in 1999. this decade ain't so bad either. O0

I graduated High School in 1990... then... College, parties, Janes Addiction, beer, parties, gigging with my band, Lolapaloozas, snowboarding, rehearsal, Pearl Jam, parties, weed, Nirvana, parties, gigs, Sublime, job, college, parties, gigs, blank spots of no memory, dogs, Soundgarden, parties, shows, my 68 Camaro, tours, gigs, beers, microbrews, backwards baseball caps, snowboarding, my 98 Jeep Wrangler, shows, dirtbikes, parties, gigs, marriage....... next thing I know I am toasting the year 2000 with many friends and my wife.
it was kinda like that ....

Very similar situation as SLYinKC for me as well. The 90's is when I got my Sh** together after the '80's rock & roll business..........and finally went to college and grad-school.
Met my wife in '90...got married in '93....went to college from '93 to '97.....grad-school from '97 to '00
Graduated High School in '80 and went directly into the Hollywood heavy metal scene.....so everything I've done that "normal" people do (college, marriage, career, kids, etc.) is about 10 years behind schedule. :*))

I also recall that one of the firms I worked for in the 90's was hired to help clean-up the Savings and Loan crisis. I spent about 2 years going through the records of failed S&L's. Does anyone remember those?

Like some of you guys, it was meeting and marrying my wife, kids, house, etc... all a blur to me now. I do remember that other than jazz, I didn't like much of the music. I like more of the 80's or earlier music, and currently like Big Band & Sinatra style music. I think I'm becoming my dad.

The 90's were when I started my nomadic lifestyle and they were a blast, I don't remember alot, they were just a big blur of new places and new faces, but I do remember it was way to fun.

Swing was more of a West Coast thing. I'm surprised that no one mentioned the former Stray Cat, Brian Setzer. He was part of the most successful swing group of the 90's. Does anyone remember "The House Is Rockin' and "Jump Jive An' Wail"?
What about Soundgarden's Outshined, Stone Temple Pilots Plush, Nirvana's Come As You Are, Pearl Jam's Better Man, Smashing Pumpkins 1979, Radiohead's Creep, Tonic's If You Could See?
To me the 90's also mean wearing my Gazelle shades, Kangols and watching "old-school" Nickelodeon TV Shows.
Some advice for Stew: You say you're turning into to your father. Watch a Shakira video. That should jump start you right back into the new millenium. OK, the Rat Pack was way cool way back in the prehistoric 60's. Seriously I don't mind listening to Sinatra, Sammy or Dean from time to time either!
