Is one styptic pencil better than another? Are they all the same? Does anyone have a preference of one brand over another? Or are these pretty generic?
For those who don't know, a styptic pencil, when applied to a facial or head shave cut, will help stop the bleeding.

Hmm, good question. I've never used one in my life...I'm sure some other brothers here will know.
-
I honestly didn't know there WAS more than one as that is all I have seen available in our town.
-
I have one, but it's still in the package. Does anyone know what is in these things that makes them work?
-
I have one that is liquid with a spounge on the end. It does not sting as much as the solid type.
-
They are pretty much all the same and I think they have alum in them.
-
I purchased one from the Art of Shaving for like $8 and then one from RiteAid for $1.50. They both worked the same.
-
Are styptic pencils and an alum block one and the same thing then ?
-
I use cayenne pepper, I would be interested to know which stings more the pencil or pepper

When I saw this old post and that it was posted by our recently departed friend WaliGuy it brought a smile to my face. That smile was immediately followed by the realization that this will be his children's first Christmas without him. My Prayers to his children and Family for Christmas.
