Title: Shiny Shiny or Not
Post by: Rawgutts on October 31, 2007, 04:43:00 AM: I have talked with a people on this and like to know what you guys think on it.

Do you like your head being shiny shiny or do you like to use products that tones down the shine and if you do use that product, what is it?

Post by: waliguy on October 31, 2007, 08:15:52 AM: I'm one of those guys who sometimes wants a shine, and sometimes doesn't. For me, it depends a little on the type of shaving creme or gel that I start with.

I've found the best shine for me comes starts with some Trader Joe's Honey Mango shaving creme. After I'm done shaving and out of the shower, I'll rinse the chrome dome with some cold water for about 30-seconds. This works great for me. Then I'll apply a little moisturizing lotion and I'm good to go.

Today, top down on the car, sun block on, in the rear view mirror I could see reflections of the trees! Good!

I prefer a "matte finish".
I've recently started using the Matte for Men products and I'm completely satisfied with the results. O:O

I prefer L'Oreal After Shave Balm with SPF 15. It's a little more expensive than the HeadLube, but it's a much better product.

I find that I get my best shine if I rinse my head with really cold water after I shave. I shave in the shower most of the time so I just turn off the hot water and let the cold water run over my head for as long as I can stand it. Most times I don't even use any headlube or aftershave to enhance the shine, the cold water seems to do the trick. O0

I'm with Ben on this one. I'm a big fan of Matte for Men's lotion with SPF 25. If I'm going out at night, I'll use HeadLube Matte since I don't need the SPF.

Some of the guys here at work told me to use vaseline on my head to stop the shine. Now I have never heard of such a thing, kinda seems weird.

I've never heard that either. If you try it out, let us know if it works.

Same here, Nomad. Mostly reserved and less shiny.

For me it's the reverse.
If I can't see the reflection of my blindy melon in my car keys, then I'm not leavin' the house! @c3

Seems like the sunscreen is what really brings out the mirror where my noggin used to be. Not so sure I'm going to keep buying HB moisturerizer after this runs out... it would be real convenient to have a moisterizer/sunscreen all in one.

I use 'Boots' sun cream, which i can get cheap because a lady friend of mine works in Boots the chemist here in UK. Sun cream really seems to get the shine working, plus it moisturises as it shines.

I agree here, there are days I really want to shine and then some days I want to be a bit more toned down. I switch off between the HB lubes (glossy, matte), and Bald Guyz moisture gel. I also tend to get a natural shine anyway.
