Title: Had it shaved
Post by: kyleferebee on October 28, 2007, 03:06:05 PM
After two years of my older brother bugging to shave my head like his i finally gave in Saturday.  I let him buzz my hair and shave my scalp queball smooth.  After it was over my bro swept up my hair and put it a zip lock bag and said it was his "trophy".  Well so far I hate how it looks and my head feels "wet" all the time.  My bro has convinced me to stay shaved for a few weeks and get the feel of it.  His head shines and looks cool,  mine dosnt shine,  is snow white and has a five o'clock shadow even after is just had a fresh Mach3 over it.
Kyle
P.S.  Some great advice on this page,  Glad I found you guys!

You have to use the 30 day rule. The whiteness will go away after you get some sun on your dome and your head will shine just like your brothers. You just have to give your self a little time. Welcome to the group dude.

I agree with Tom -- stick with it for 30 days.  By then the color will have evened out and you'll be over the shock of your change in appearance.   It's not uncommon to have a lot of mixed emotions in the beginning.  You really do have to stay bald for a while to truly experience what it's like.  You've come this far, so stick with it and see it through.  If you decide you don't like it after 30 days, it only takes a week to get to a #1 buzz cut length.

You're lucky that you're young and can still grow your hair back if you choose.  It's nice to have options.   Allow yourself to enjoy the bald experience for a while.  You may decide not to keep it, but if your hair starts to thin in a few years and you have to shave it again, it will be a lot less scary because you'll already know what it's like to be a sly bald guy.

Welcome to the group.

Welcome, Klye. I have to agree with the others.  You definitely won't know for sure if you like it until you give it a little more time. So why not hang around.  This is a great place for advice and encouragement.  Welcome. O0

Kyle, welcome to Sly Bald Guys!  Your bro is correct, give it a few weeks to get used to it and get some color.  As for the "wet" feeling all the time, try picking up some Bald Guyz Head Wipes to wipe your head with.

kyle....welcome 2 the sly fraternity.  glad that ya found us.  why don't u recruit your brother 2 this forum?  anyways....like the other sly brahs mentioned...give it the "30 day trial".  the 30 day trial is the unwritten rule in the sly forum.  after 30 days....the person will decide 2 keep it smooth or grow it back.  the percentage of people keeping it smooth is 99%.  so....i'm betting that u will keep it smooooth. O0  again...post up often & become an active member of the best site on the internet. O0

Bro...welcome man.  Yes your brother is right...you need to keep ti smooth for at least 30 days.  Use the proper techniques found in this site and get some sun on your noggin and you will be good to go.  The first week is where you find it feels really different.  After the first week....you sorta stop noticing it.  Just stick wiht it and post up a pic of you with teh shaved noggin.

Definitely try it for 30 days; the pale color will go away.  If nothing else, consider this an experiment to see what it's like to be shaved.  So, if for some reason down the road you develop hair loss, you'll know what to do and what to expect.  By the way, is your brother losing his hair?  You didn't mention what started him shaving.

My bro and I dared each other to get horseshoe flats like some of the other guys in JROTC a couple of years back and he didnt like the flattop and shaved bald and liked the look and easy maint.  I have to say I feel better about the look today,  everyone at school had positive comments.  And the shower after football practice took a fraction of the time,  no hair to wash and dry!

Kyle, glad to hear you're feeling more positive about the look. Give it some time like the other bro's have said. See how you feel after that. It really is much more clean and easy.
Good luck with your shaving, and if you need any tips just ask us.
