Title: Hi all! New Bladie here ^^
Post by: dexter1984 on October 28, 2007, 01:37:30 AM
Hi to all fellow bald guys here, I just became bald afew days ago.
Well, almost bald. I didn't do a good job and my head's like sandpaper now.
And I'm suffering from razor burns. . .

Just some questions for the experienced forum'ers here  :*))

1. Any tips on preventing razor burns? I'm using a fusion and nic'ed myself afew times. My headblade's coming soon so I hope that will solve my problems.

2. How frequently do people shave their heads?

I love my new (almost) bald look! Just need to get rid of the stubble and I'll be a smooth guy soon

Dexter, welcome to Sly Bald Guys!

To answer your questions, it would be good to check out the Shave Routing topic:

http://www.slybaldguys.com/smf/index.php?topic=923.0 (http://www.slybaldguys.com/smf/index.php?topic=923.0)

It's also helpful to know what your current routine is:

Razor - you said Fusion
Shaving Cream
Shower or Sink?

Remember that burn is usually caused by too much friction on your scalp, so you need to reduce that friction by using one or a combo of the following things:

Less pressure on the blades
A shaving cream/oil/gel that provides a slicker shave

Look forward to getting to know you!

Hi ^^ Thanks for the thread, helped me alot.
I'm using some Gillete shaving gel, doesn't seem to help with the burns.

I'm shaving while bathing though, takes quite awhile.
Letting my head recover from the burns =\

Welcocme, Dexter, Glad you found us and joined the group.  BaldGuyz Moisture Gel is great for irritation and razor burn.  You can find it at WalMart, CVS, or Walgreens.

Welcome Dexter, great to have you with us.  The other bros have already given some great advice.  I would just add to try out the HeadSlick instead of Gilette shaving gel.   You can get it at Walgreens, Osco, or CVS.  Really helps the blade to glide with minimal friction.

I'm sure if you switched to HeadSlick or  Bald Guyz Shaving Gel you'd rid yourself of the irritation.  If you can't find HeadSlick in the stores, then as a backup, get some King of Shaves Shaving Oil or Shaving Gel until you can order one of the other online.

Hello, welcome!

If you have your HeadBlade-Equipment: No further razor burn, no stubbles. But shining chrome dome.

I shave daily and it's very a good feeling.

Welcome, I agree with my bald brothas, headslick and a Headblade will help with the nic's and burn.

Also, I notice a lot of folks that are shaving their head for the first time get some irritation. I think once your head gets used to it, you will not have this problem as much.

Welcome brother.

I have been using the King of Shaves gel and its the best I've found yet, its good and slick and most important is no clogging the blades, everything I used before clogged the blades.

Hey Dexter, Welcome to SBG's. I think you may want to try a couple of combo's before you decide.

Headslick (by HeadBlade), is one of the best shave creams. I also recommend King of Shaves Alpha gel, they also make a shaving oil, which is excellent, as Tyler said. I alternate with all three.

I haven't been able to try it yet, but some of our sly brudda's swear by Bald Guyz shave gel.
Stick with the HeadBlade once you get it, it is the best tool for the job.
Good Luck, and let us know how it goes.   O0

Haha thanks to those that replied and viewed this thread.
I'm onto my 1st week of headshaving. Cut my shaving time by 1/2 from 1 hour to 1/2 hour now  :XX

Still trying to improve, but those hair grow fast! The stubble keeps coming!
