hello fellow chrome domes....just wondering...in celebration of halloween...what was your favorite halloween candy when U were a kid.
i'll start: my favorite was bubble yum & candy corn. so...how 'bout u? what's your favorite?
WARHAWK O0
-
I recall going to my grandmother's house when I was a kid and she would always have homemade popcorn balls to hand out. Couldn't do that today.
-
Well the candy that I always looked forward to at Halloween were tootsie rolls. But when you are young ,its all good eh O0
-
Candy corn but like Jesse says, when u r that age it's all good.
-
Rum Balls. :D
We had a fun neighborhood.
In all seriousness, I'd have to go with mini Snickers.
-
It's be a tie between mini KitKats and Twix. I still make sure to buy those for Halloween so I can enjoy the leftovers.
-
Far and away, Three Muskateers and these little pieces of candy in rows on paper strips.
-
OMG where is everyones head at....the all time are the miniature Reese Cups!
Its sad to think how Halloween has changed over the years. Its now what limited to 2 hours on the night of Halloween. Man, I can remember we would start trick or treating like 3 nights before Halloween and we would sack loads and loads of candy. Im not talking about those small plastic grocery bags we have today, Im talkin about the large paper sacks with the handle on em. We would go all over town hit different neighborhoods each night. We use to get popcorn balls, apples, homemade brownies, candy apples and cookies. Cant do that anymore unless you really know the person. Just hate it that our kids today....dont ever get to experience the stuff we did as a kid. And we wonder why kids today do not know how to be kids.
-

what were those called? Dots? i remember them....Fun Dip was always good too. And I always thought it was cool to get a Ring Pop....walk around with this big jewel of candy on my finger!......silence....silence.... :*)) :*)) :*))
Remember the wax bottles and lips....the bottles would have flavored sugar water in them. And the wax lips..what was the purpose?? I could never bring myself to eat the wax.....knowing me I would get constipated.
-
I agree with TimmJ, Halloween used to be an all out event when I was a kid.
We would start at like 5:00-6:00 and Trick Or Treat as much of the town as possible. Houses that didn't answer would get the T.P. treatment or some other "trick". We would meet up with other groups of kids and compare our hauls and swap tips "The lady over on 5th is giving out full size snickers" etc. this would go on untill like 9:00 or later... People used to totally deck out their houses like mini-haunted houses and stuff... man it used to be such a cool day as a kid, now... like everything else... it has a soft, non toxic, padded cover on it so no one gets hurt...
My favorite was Tootsie Rolls (Right on JDog). Reeses PB Cups are my favorite candy to this day, I have a bag of the mini banana cream Elvis edition ones in my freezer right now... they are on lock down due to my current diet.
-
Defiantley Reeses and snickers..
as a crouchity old adult I really dig the annual candy corn though, lame huh?
...what's next for this old man...
Marmalade and rum fruit cake?
-
Have you ever taken the candy corn and mix it with salted peanuts in a bowl? If you like paydays...eating them this way has a big resemblence of a payday...toss in some carmel pieces if you wish. I have often thought about melting down some caramel and then coatin it with peanuts and candy corn...hmmmmmmmm think i will just do it this evening.
-

OMG!!!
Thats like some sort of bathtub sugar crack!
-
I always looked forward to Nerds or Snickers.
Like Tim and Marz, my friends and I used to scour our neighborhood and then venture in to adjacent neighborhoods to "raid" them of their candy. We used to also meet up with other groups and discuss where the best places were. We'd even carry two masks so that we could hit a good house the second time. Then, there was the annual egg fight that usually took place once the candy getting was over. Ah, the memories...
-
Every year one of my elderly aunts. Margaret, made Toll House cookies. Imagine how popular her house was! Tyler would have needed many mask!!!
Some years afterwards, and just prior to her death at 96, I asked for the recipe. She kept thinking and thinking (and by this time, she was into Alzheimer's) ... finally she said, "I can't remember it ... but it's on the back of the Toll House bag".

Whoa Tim, Marz, and Tyler, you were some baad little dudes!! :x!
For me it was always some chocolate bar like Snickers, Milky Way or 3 Musketeers that were my favorites. I also liked that the candy dust in the straws and the hardened candy dots on the paper. O0
I never liked anything with peanut butter as an ingredient. I guess it's not the kind of junk food you desire when you're out begging for candy on the one night of the year you're allowed to dress like the devil! >:D
-
For me it the candy corn and reeses, I still hold them as favorites today.
the powder in the straws are pixie stix, Ben
and like you all I do miss the memories of the good old days of the all night halloweens, and the mischief that went with it.
-
So who says we cant still go out and do it?????? No one ever said Halloween was for kids did they????
-
When I was a KID???? Dude come on.... I still love candy... and well let me tell you i'm like an 8yr old i don't complain as long as it does not have nuts it's going down the gullet.
-
Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, Man!!!
They're STILL my favorite
-
Reese's are the #1 candy for me....especially when they have those Reese Eggs....now they have reeese trees,turkeys,pumkins,hearts....OH man....
Oh Rob..dont you hate it when you go buy a reeses cup and you open it and bite into it and the peanutbutter is dried out. Man I hate that...just ruins it. I dont know how many times I have driven back across town to exchange it or get my money back.....I have I swear...that is a disgrace to Reese Peanutbutter Cups....my wife gets mad at me at times too...cause I will sit there at the check out stand and actually open it up and break it in half to make sure they arent dried out. Im sorry...but Im a die hard fan of Reese's.
-
MaryJanes..... O:O
-
MaryJanes..... O:O
I bet Mary Jane's some hot chick, Tom! >:D
Cause it better not be those molasses peanut chews. I once pulled out a filling eating one of those! :'(
-
Oh Rob..dont you hate it when you go buy a reeses cup and you open it and bite into it and the peanutbutter is dried out.
I guess I'm fortunate in that I don't recall biting into a dried out Reeses......sorry bro
-
Dude...Rob...you must be one of the few lucky ones. I think it is that they are old....just nasty...i will sendyou one sometime.....hows that...lol
-
MaryJanes..... O:O
I used to keep a tub of Mary Jane candy on my desk at work. Then I would take them to meetings just so I could announce that I was bringing the Mary Jane.

You are right, TimmJ. Candy corn and peanuts are awesome together - just like a Payday. We usually have some of that around the house in the fall I don't have to go Trick or Treating to get candy -- I just raid my kids' stuff. We don't let them take it to their rooms (yeah, we're mean). Besides, it's a lot easier to take what I want then. Seriously, they like the non-chocolate junk most of all, so I go after their chocolate. O0 Oh, by the way, I liked everything when i was a kid.
-
Tim I know what your talking about with the dried out old reeses. It just kills it for me when I get an old one from the store.
-

Yeah me too..thats why Iwill turn right around ..march right back in there stomping both feet and giving the cashier a look from hell! >:D
No Im generally nice about it..but if you are a true Reese's Cup eater....you know what Im talkin about. You just can not settle for a stale Reese's Cup. Its just not right.

I take it that those are not available in Australia? Have you ever tried Peanut Butter M&M's? -- equally sinful and awesome. I love M&M's. Dang, now I'm hungry again.
-
STOP THIS TALK! I WANT CANDY REALLY REALLY BAD RIGHT NOW. just too lazy to go get it. Besides...its raining out side...I dont want to smear up my shiney head..... O0
-
Too lazy to go get candy?
Your not a very good fat kid are you?
You probably have all your teeth too....
-
Candy apples, and I don't have a name for these, just a description, I've never seen these in stores so they must not be made anymore. Basically its a wafer candy bar thats vanilla flavored, but it has a dense consistancy. In a white and blue package, I think, but it tastes like a milkshake. Damn good!

bit-o-honey. or those brach's things you could get in bulk at the grocery store. the ones that were sorta like tootsie rolls but different flavors. yeah, bulk candy is great. i will going to the store shortly.
-
Ok this is a little off the line of Halloween candy..but while we are talkin about candy...Brach's Maple Nut Goodies are the bomb too. I can buy a bag of those and they be gone before I even reach the driveway.
Umm sorry there Rick...BUT YOU DO NOT FREEZE REESE'S CUPS. THE PEANUT BUTTER MUST REMAIN GOOEY, THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO EAT A REESE'S. But, when I do eat a Reese's Cup....i take one small bite out of the side...eat the middle, and then the edges are left. OK I will be back in a few....going out on a Reese's Run.

I need to get some of y'all's addresses for when I do my Holiday Bake-a-Thon.
*pause to let everyone soak in the image of me baking*
Every year, sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas, I bake up batch after batch of the sweet nectar known as the Peanut Butter Temptation. Visualize a peanut butter cookie wrapped around a mini Reese's and you get the idea. And, just like Santa delivering us all Headblades under our trees, the Bake-a-Thon only comes around once a year.

Well, what can I say. ;D I have a great long term memory, but don't ask me what I did yesterday; chances are I would have a stupid look on my face. I hope they're as good as you remember since you ordered a case!
