Title: Liberation
Post by: Marz on October 10, 2007, 06:22:16 PM
I am new so I figured I would post up since anyone I talk to about being bald is usually a pseudo counseling session or trying to explain to narcissists why I don't wear a rug or other "System"... Finally a group who actually "Get it".

Things I love about being Sly;

I dont have to mess with hairstyles and "product".

I am not hiding under a carefully sculpted comb over, wig, rug, piece, paint, plugs, etc.

People that dont know me assume I will break their arm if they mess with me.

People that know me know I wont.

Being in my early 20's when I started loosing my hair, I have overcome one of the worst things that can happen to a mans image. It not only made me stronger but it gave me an advantage in life I couldn't get with George Cloneys hair.  I see men twice my age jumping through the foolish hoops of desperation that  many of us did and I just sigh and hope they get hip.

I have made countless people I know comfortable with loosing their hair and discuss it openly with everyone.  I hope no-one has to feel as alone as I did at one point.

I spend haircut money on motorcycle parts and beer.

I wake up looking just as good as I did when I went to sleep.

Most hats look great.

Rain, wind... no problem.

Swimming.... no problem

I can actually dry off with a towel

I can get that much closer to open flames

superior aerodynamics

I can never cut my sideburns too high

I make modern day man look like a caveman by comparison, give em 150 years, they'll catch up.

Welcome the forum Marz O0 Very creative and cool post. Good to point out the money you save.

Sure, some goes into getting grooming products/razors for us pedantic headshavers but the amount you save from haircuts and other hair related stuff is awesome.

Liberation is the perfect word to describe it.

For me, the sense that once I shaved, I left behind 15 years of looking in the mirror and wishing I had more hair.

Now I don't care, and realize how much energy I expended on that.

I'll add a few to the list:

Never have to carry a comb.

Look younger.

Chicks dig it.

Had to quote you on my favorites of your list. I'll add one...
You can sell ad space if you need more money for cycle parts & beer.

I think this is just plain the BEST post I have EVER read on this site.

Not only is it insightful and positive beyond measure it is tightly knit, consice, doesn't ramble; gets right to the heart of the matter.

I think the best thing you say is how  loosing one's hair is devastating to any man's self image ( So true) ; and / but that going sly can completly liberate a man from that devastation.

My hat's off to you .

"Liberation" is a good way to put it. I've often termed it "freedom from the tyranny of hair".

Marz, great work.  Now I have even more to use on my "fencers" in the office and out.  Only one I'd add, for myself, is how GREAT it feels to shave it in the morning.

Excellent post, Marz. Tight, to the point and honest, I will keep this in mind to use on the naysayers.
Freedom was the initial feeling I felt when I finally decided to get on with taking it all off, and I can't imagine going back.

Liberation definitely sums it all up, bro.   O0
