Hello fellas!!! What a delight to find this site!
My name is JD and i'm 40,living in Washington State.Yesterday was my first full day of baldness since being a baby!!
And i love it!!! I won't post a photo till the slight razor burn goes away but here is how i looked before:
(https://www.slybaldguys.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi62.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fh93%2Fn7myw%2FMoustache%2F8-july05verysmall.jpg&hash=ed1265f9e69c541225068eba4af11efe4a42d271)
I purchased some good pivot razors and some Bald Guyz moisture gel from Walgreens today.
My main thrust in going bald was to help with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and raise money for cancer research. So some of my workmates and i were shorn for this great cause.
But... i love this!!! And my wife does as well!I didn't expect to but am hooked. Now i hope to get rid of the reddish marks and maybe get that close, smooth head all of you have! Maybe just be patient???
The moustache stays though!! Thats my trademark!
Thanks for reading.I hope to start posting soon!
Regards,
JD

Thanks for all the kind words fellas.Much appreciated.
I partook in the Leukemia Walk tonight and estimate 2000 also walked.A great turnout.
I headed straight to the shower when home and tried out my new Gillette 3 blade razors.Took some doing but eventually shaved it all again, this time mowing down that pesky stubble.I missed a few places i know but i would say 99% is much smoother.
Now to get the tan so it looks better.I want that splendid look you fine gentleman have cultivated!!
Then used an apricot exfoliant .After that,a washcloth to get rid of any dead skin.
A rinse and the Bald Guyz Moisture Gel.Ahh what a feeling.
Feels so much smoother. Now to keep track of when to shave again.I tend to grow hair fast(as my moustache can attest to ) and so i figure every 2 or 3 days i will have to shave.
And it seems that side to side worked better at first then front to back, back to front.
Would appreciate any hints. I will be reading a lot tomorrow to catch up.
BTW,here is a horrible yet current pic i shot quickly this evening. The burns have subsided a bit and things are getting better.Excuse the unkempt moustache.Usually it is much better .
Thanks again,
JD(Jim)

JD, sounds like a good routine. Bald Guyz moisture gel is a great product.
I think if your hair grows that quickly, you won't want to let it get past two days. That seems to be the limit for most of the guys, if not every day.
And I believe most use the exfoliant before they shave, from what I've read.
For after my shave I've been using the TN Dickinson's witch hazel, I let it dry and then put on the Headlube glossy. Been working wonderful and the scalp feels great.
Keep us posted on how it goes.

Handlebar, welcome! Dome looks good and the 'stache rocks!
-
jd....the slick, smooth noggin' suits ya. it looks like u got a pretty good routine. u might want 2 try a cold water rinse, followed with rubbing a ice cube immediately after shaving your dome. the cold water rinse & ice cube will help close your pores & keep u slick longer. i agree with xnewyawka that u may want 2 shave more often than every 2-3 days. most of the guys here shave everyday or every other day. there r some that shave twice a day like "jdog". anyways.... u might want 2 check out the headshaving section of this forum 2 get some more tips & info. feel free 2 ask questions..... we r here 2 help. keep us posted in your road 2 slyness.

Thanks again fellas. I shaved again this morning but think i might be overdoing it LOL
The burn from the initial shave on thursday afternoon hasn't gone away and i hate seeing those black folicles on my head.
I want this head to be baby smooth.
Maybe time is whats needed. How long would you fellas say it took before your impressive domes really looked like they do???

Jim as you read various threads the one thing you will pick up on is that shave routines vary by individual. I was wondering though if you changed YOUR routine slightly if it would help with the irritation. Trying using the exfoliant BEFORE shaving to soften the hair and remove dead skin. Often shower shaving will help as well by keeping the hair good and moist. After the shave use as cold a water rinse as you can stand. Some of the brothers even use ice cubes. This closes pores and cuts down on the irritation as well. Then apply your moisturing gel. Continue to read the various techniques routines of the other sly guys too, until you find out what works best for you

Jim,
I got to say (since you like compliments about it) ;D but I say it with all sincerity ..... that is one really great 'tache you got there. Love it! Also .... looks really good with the shaved head. The combo is definitely a keeper.
Great way to discover the joys of a shaved dome too O0 total respect for that!
So, hope you stick around Jim! O:O
-
Glad you joined us Jim! What a great way to discover SLYdom huh?!
You definitely rock the look with the 'stache, like the other guys have said.
KEEP IT!!!
-
Handlebar, I forgot to say that the shaved head and mustache is a great combination. The shaved head really accentuates the mustache. In other words, there is nothing else to distract away from the 'stache. I am envious. I think I would keep chewing on it if I grew mine that big! But I have to say that are really cool looks out there in terms of the sly look. I am finding that it is neat to see, even among our members here, that everyone's sly look is unique and cool. So again....welcome!
-
Thanks so much for the positive words. I really value my moustache and the new shaved look really is fun.
As i journey down this bald road,i'm certain to find many new and delightful friends!!
