I've gotten pretty hooked on these Discovery Channel shows, man.
Think I like "Survivorman" a bit better since he is actually alone with the camera equipment and documents 7 full days of survival strategies.
Their strategies don't contradict, but Man vs. Wild, it seems the guy, "Bear," when saying he will "show" survival tactics ends up climbing down a sheer cliff, or scaling a tree or cliff or something in a manner that only the most fit among us could pull off.
Survivorman, IMO, has the edge on realism.
Both are very intriguing...anyone else?

i would have to agree robbie. realism is better. if the average joe got stranded he could not do some of the stuff on MAN vs. Wild.
-
I prefer Survivorman. More realistic and I understand from watching another program that he has really had some rough goes in some of those shoots to prove it.

I'm hooked on Discovery Military channel.

I'll have to check out Survivorman. Man vs. Wild had some controversy over reports that Bear was actually sleeping in hotels when he was supposed to be out in the wild.

For some reason that doesn't shock me
I'll have to check out Survivorman.
You'll like it....he rocks the reality of roughin' it.
I've noticed that in M.V.W. the guy sets up his shelter, but rarely if ever does it show him bedding down in it for the night. Survivorman checks says "good night" to the camera and checks in with the camera periodically and especially first thing in the morning to report how good he slept or did not sleep......stuff like that.
Donno...but with M.V.W. it seems like he's always running, jumping, climbing, etc...sometimes with Survivorman, he will just plain admit he hasn't eaten in 5 days and he simply ain't gonna walk anymore or he ain't gonna spend the energy to make a top notch shelter because he feels like he's gonna pass out.....

I really enjoy both shows allot. Although the first Survivorman I watched he was sorta of simulating a plane accident. The plane was there from an actual crash. He even tied his arm behind his back for a while to show what you could do in that situation.
But I do have to agree that at least he is for real on his own and admits to being tired and cold and all that.

Barefoot Bushman was pretty good too.

Here is a link to some clips of Man vs. Wild. Looks like Discovery has changed the name to Ultimate Survival. http://www.discoverytv.com/emea/ultimatesurvival.htm (http://www.discoverytv.com/emea/ultimatesurvival.htm)

Survivorman all the way!!
-
There's a Man Vs. Wild marathon today, Sunday, the 30th on Discovery Channel all afternoon, evening and into the wee hours.
Even though I prefer Survivorman.....Man Vs. Wild is pretty damn cool too.
-
I know what I'm watching tonight.
For me it is Survivorman all the way but both make good tv. I like the Amazon episode when he had to run away from a Jag that chased him while he was taking a leak. Intense stuff.
