Title: I'm still fighting the bumps
Post by: The_Chavez on September 24, 2007, 11:09:27 AM
hey guys. sorry it has been so long but i got really busy really quick and i haven't had time to get on here. anyways as most of you know i was fighting razor bumps and i still am. im using a headblade with gelette sensor 3 blades, headslick, st ives apricot scrub, baldguyz moisturizing gel and bump patrol liquid formula. i just started using the bump patrol stuff and it seems to help but not enough.....and it stings like a bitch lol. i put a new blade in this morning and shaved and it was horrible...as soon as i looked in the mirror my head was covered with bumps but the sides of my head are the worst. i have shaved with and against the grain and i seem to have the same result. i would order some clearhead but i am in-between jobs and i am trying to save money. i am just very frustrated....I just dont know what i should do. out of desperation i used some of my mother's makeup  on my head(some kind of skin-colored liquid stuff) and it took the redness out of the bumbs but of course they are still there. i am a sly man in need....please help!

Try King of Shaves Alpha oil under your headslick.  Put 4-8 drops of the oil (oil costs $4.99 at CVS) and then cover with headslick.  I also use Sensor blades, and I found that I get less razor burn with triple blades, but I refuse to use them because I get a closer shave with doubles...

Bro, sounds like with all you are doing and so little results that this could be an allergic reaction.  Have you consulted a dermatologist?

Another idea is maybe an electric razor?  I've never tried this (I am a headblade man myself) but maybe that would cause less irritation for you?

... maybe try Tea Tree Oil ... it's sold as a 'bump fighter.'

Look for Pacific Shaving Oil.  They have it at Whole Foods and stores like that.  I'm trying it out right now and it's some good stuff.

Could you possibly be putting to much pressure on the blade ,like pressing to hard ? That'll make you bump up like a fool

I had a bunch of red spots until I tried the King of Shaves Alpha Oil underneath my gel.  It makes the HeadBlade slide pretty smooth across my head, so I think it helps get a closer shave too.

Also, that oil also contains Tea Tree Oil that the others mentioned.  Give it a shot, sure helped me.

hey bro...i've had trouble with burn myself.  i have tried the tea tree oil, it didnt really help and it smells VERY strong...do not recommend.  ive found that baby oil works great...just massage into scalp before u apply ur headslick.  plus the great part is that it only costs like a buck for a big bottle  O0

I've had some issues with that...I switched to Aveeno Therapeutic Shave Gel (there are several different kinds; get the one with colloidal oatmeal). After I shave I finish off with witch hazel, followed by Vaseline Intensive Care. It's a regimen I found online, and has made a dramatic difference. Most of the red spots were gone the same day, and I don't seem to be getting any new bumps.

I've been going sly for a week and developed some red bumps on Saturday.  The only change to my routine was I started using Headlube on Thursday (instead of Aloe).  Is it possible that it has something to do with it?
Today after shaving I used Clearhead, and went back to using Aloe and it seems to be helping.  Anyone else have a similar issue?

So, I normally use an electric, but every so often I'll blade it and the other week I got some really bad razor burn and bumps all over, and I mean from the base of the neck all over the sides and on top.  I threw on a hat, which I never do, and went looking for something.  I was at the mall and had no luck at the Shoppers Drug Marts so I decided to head into The Body Shop (mainly cause there were only the employees in there and they were all very nice  ;) ) and I asked them for help.  They immediately brought me this tube called "For Men Razor Relief" and had me try it right there, and it worked really well.  Within a few minutes it was already starting to clear up.  I would definitely recommend trying that out.  I don't know if The Body Shop in the US do this, or even if there are any there, but here in Canada they give out samples for you to try.  Something else they recommended was their "Aloe Caring Body Balm."  It's a bit greasy at first but has worked well for me since I've got really sensitive skin, and there is really no odor to it either.

Ok guys, I have been reading all the threads about shaving, bumps etc..and want to put out a challenge. Everyone has different remedies for razor bumps, a close shave etc. Mixing shave oul with shave cream, oil alone, etc, etc.

For the first 50 Sly Bald Guyz who want to try out Bald Guyz Shave Gel I will give them a tube FREE as long as they complete a survey and provide honest answers. Bald Guyz Shave Gel will provide a closer shave, help eliminate razor bumps and irritation (better when you combine it with Moisuture Gel after).

All you have to do is send the Email to me @   info@baldguyz.com and put Sly Shave Survey in the subject line. Provide your name and address and the shave gel will be on the way.

We want to PROVE that we have the best for the head and face and look forward to the challenge.

Hey PM... I don't use HeadLube anymore... not because of bumps, but because it always felt greasy.  You should try BaldGuyz moisture gel... that stuff is rightgeous!!  (Sorry about saying "rightgeous" but I just watched Fast Times at Ridgemont High again last night...)
