Title: Electric shavers
Post by: reddog on June 19, 2025, 07:14:09 AM
My trusty old Remimgton 3 foil shaver is finally failing after 20 years. They haven't been available for years, and replacement screens have gotten expensive and harder to find. So, I'm shopping for a replacement. The 2 head F5 seems reasonable at $53. Anyone have one of those? I tried a couple of the rotary headshavers, and they just didn't work for me, so I sent them back. I razor shave daily, but sometimes I hit the sides and back with an electric first.

I have an Andis foil shave that works well.  I normally use a razor blade, but us the Andis when traveling so I do not need to bring all my gear for blade shaving.  It does a good shave and holds a charge for along time.  I first experienced an Andis from a barber.  It is the electric that barbers use most in place of a blade.

I also have an Andis foil shaver. I don?t use it often - only when I am in a hurry

As a barber I own the Andis foil shaver I own the Wahl foil shaver and I also owned the Braun series 9.  All work well, but the Braun is by far the best, although seriously more expensive than the other two.

I got a Baldie Pro rotary shaver last fall and used it once on my head which resulted in shave bumps and burn. I'll stick with shaving gel and a razor
I currently use the dollar shave club 4 blade, but bought a Harry's with 13 blades at Costco for $20. I hope it as good or better than the dollar shave club razor.

When I shave with an electric, I use a Panasonic Arc 5. It's pricey, but it's a great investment. I got one last year as a present and I have no complaints. The look and feel is about 90% that of a razor shave honestly. Much less scalp prep involved too.  Great if your rushed in the morning, and can't do a full razor shave.
