Title: Shiny or Matt?
Post by: Smooth Jack 😁 on May 25, 2025, 06:05:11 AM
I'm thinking I might like a matt finish on the ceiling, I'm not sure silk/eggshell or gloss suits it?

I suppose there are general purpose moisturizers for this, rather than an niche "formula" tailored targeted at $lymen.

What do you guy's prefer?

Shiny seems to feel slightly vulnerable to me, I'm leaning in favour of "natural" consistency with the rest of my skin.

As literally a "Sly Guy I'm Training" a consideration is exercise, I do a lot of running... when I'm not injuried! I've already noticed there is less sweat, but when it does happen as I'm bald there is none resistance of absorption that hair gives, a lot of the perspiration runs straight off the scalp and into my eyes. AGGGGHHH. So I suspect there are times to use products like (oil and balms) and times not to?

I like it really shiny. All I use is a post shave splash of witch hazel.

Yeah I also like a bit of shine, but more a natural shine than an enhanced shine.

Dabbed a few dots of mild moisturiser after a shave and rubbed over

I like it shiny too. I use witch hazel and aloe vera to buff it. Best shine ever was 3 applications of aloe. let it dry in between. Headblade makes moisturizes that are matte and shine finishes. But I think the aloe works just as well and it's cheaper. A matte finish you can achieve with everyday moisturizer. you just have to rub it in thoroughly, so the skin doesn't appear pasty. Aveeno makes a good moisturizer.

But the sweat! I remember meeting with a landscaper on one of the most humid days. We were standing outside talking and my head was sopping wet and streaming down my face into my eyes. It was like a waterfall. Nothing to hold it back!

Ahhh Aloe Vera! I just had that to hand and put that on for moisturizer and to help with the - many- nicks. I didn't know it was an expert's pick as part of a intense shine formula. It makes sense now why my head was like a flash bulb.

Nearly 300 views, but only 3 replys - there's something odd about this site, loads of bots and lurkers?

It's a trick I learned from one of the guys here. A little aloe vera in the palm of the hand and add some drops of witch hazel rub it together and apply to the head. Let it dry and add another coat or two for even more shine.  :) It works great.

Yeah, I'm not sure why the traffic count is always high. Maybe the board host can comment on that.

So, Smooth Jack, one week down of the sweet bald life!

Are you keeping it smooth or experimenting with a bit of regrowth?

My preference is shine.  Since my skin is naturally on the oily side, I have natural shine.

Sweat getting into the eyes is a problem.  You man need to get a sweet band if you do a lot of running.  My issues with sweat is normally when doing my lawn maintenance.  I keep any running (mostly fast walking) to the indoors at my gym on a treadmill.

Shiny for me. Nothing more satisfying to end a good close smooth shave with a shiny bald head.

Shiny for me. This is my second day trying the 3 layer aloevera method. So far, so good!
